This information is obtained from actual research. The research data this was pulled from performed the research on individuals with ASD only, with no comorbid conditions such as ADHD.
Ok so I just wrote a tumblr post about this actually. Buuuut these studies aren’t done on the current generation (obviously) and there’s another thing that increases dementia risk: ptsd. Those studies were done on a generation that was abused, institutionalized, and misunderstood. We don’t know how autism affects dementia risk, because we haven’t done a study on a happy, healthy autistic population. So don’t worry about it too much, because we don’t know if that data is actually accurate for US just that is was accurate for a previous generation.
@@user-ml8go9yw6q ok to be fair I don’t know how many autistic people are actually happy, buuut we are working towards it and I would definitely say that as a group we are much better of now then say in the 50s
..... Could have gone my whole life without knowing this - I asked a nurse if we die earlier too. We don't. Chances are, we live longer. I also doubt to fuck this is true. Our memory is too damn photographic and precise to be fucked later
Don’t worry to much, as in my post above, studies not done on current generation, treatment towards autistic people has changed, the increased risk could have been from other factors that could not be appropriately addressed or assessed.
