people calling these guys newer country stuff "new" must not have ever done too deep a dive into their stuff or their influences and where they came from cause they always done country, just got bigger in the hiphop world first. And btw jellyroll wasnt the first to do this crossover stuff, nor was yelawolf. hank 111 was an originator of punk, hip hop, metal, country, but he even once mentioned someone else started doing all that m, just never got big like it is now. also, I dont know if hank 3 ever put iut too much hiphop stuff... but if i remeber correctly he said in an interview he did do some type of hiphop stuff at some point. edit: BTW im noy saying anyone does it better than anyone, or this person invented this or that, just my point is there been alot of this happening in certain pockets of the country for a while, and its starting to catch on, not knocking anyone or anything like that.

I love the raspy voice. For me, the song wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. There's something to be said for breaking the verse pattern monotony. This hit me like singing four verses of a hymn. His band was exuding more energy than he was, too. He did come alive a bit in the chorus, which I did like. I commented and told Struggle as much, and found myself rather surprised when he gave the feedback a personal like. I'm so used to people being so, "shut your mouth you don't know nothing". Improved my respect for him that he was willing to do that. Not sure how many SJ songs you've heard, but "Road I Came" really came across as a good song for me.
