With so many wonderful amenities to offer, I couldn’t think of a better place to begin this video than Yates Cider Mill! Dating all the way back to 1863, and still one of the BEST places in SE Michigan for fresh cider & donuts, Yates is a staple of Rochester Hills. While there, be sure to give yourself time to check out their trails, or even throw a fishing line in the Clinton River.
Like any other day, I need to start with some great coffee. In Rochester Hills, my go to is Half Day Cafe. Aside from coffee, they also have an assortment of teas, amazing breakfasts & sandwiches, and is located right on Adams Rd across from The Village, providing ample opportunities for shopping.
Rochester Hills boats a number of beautiful neighborhoods, with one of my personal favorites being Clear Creek. At the end of 2021, these gorgeous homes on the low end go for $650K all the way up to $1.4M. One of the things I love about this neighborhood is with 330 homes, none are truly alike. It’s worth noting that this area is also serviced by multiple school districts.
For breakfast, The Jagged Fork is a must. With multiple locations, there is likely one near you, but this is the only one I have personally been to. It’s a great family atmosphere and their menu is definitely impressive and the food is delicious.
Innovation Hills Park is a newer addition to Rochester Hills, and a great one at that. It’s a perfect place to visit with the family and kids. With 110 acres including 3 playgrounds, ice skating pond, a paved boardwalk, access to the Clinton River with a kayak launch and much more, this is the place to go to spend a day!
For an amazing lunch you have to check out Kruse and Muer. Locally owned, there are a couple of locations, each as good as the last. This is a well known place, perfect for business lunches, or just to grab a bite. I highly recommend coming hungry, and do not skip out on their bread - it’s fantastic!
Another awesome place to visit for a fun date, an afternoon out with friends or family, is the Tree Runner Adventure Park. Located right at Oakland University’s campus, there are seven courses with four difficulty levels, including zip lines, obstacle courses & rope courses. It's a heck of a lot of fun and something a little different to do!
For dinner, I decided to take a couple of recommendations I had received for the Rochester House - and I definitely was not disappointed. The ambiance was wonderful, the menu was loaded with an assortment of choices, the food was well presented and mouth-watering, there’s a full bar and the dessert was made perfectly.
No tour of Rochester Hills would be complete without including the Meadow Brook Amphitheatre located at OU, off of Adam’s Road just south of The Village. This is an amazing place to catch a live show, and also provides a more intimate setting with seating for just 7,700 people in comparison to the larger local venues, being Freedom Hill or DTE (Pine Know - its Pine Knob). If you have a chance to catch a performance here, I would highly recommend it!
I know I referenced The Village a couple of times throughout this video, so it’s only fitting that I end here. The Village is the unofficial “downtown” of Rochester Hills and the spot to visit for a wide array of shopping, as well as an assortment of dining choices. There are also some great events that take place here around the holidays and throughout the year, so it is definitely a place to keep your eyes on.
