Thank you for this very well-presented tutorial! It has just the right amount of detail. If you ever need an idea for what to teach, I'd love to see how you adjust a basic sleeve for a blazer/jacket (especially a two-part sleeve).

Hi, thank you for your nice words. I normally don't adjust a basic sleeve to two piece sleeve. But I have plan to make videos on how to make two piece sleeve. There are several ways to draft two piece sleeve. I'll make the videos one at a time. Thank you 😊

You must explain on Darts in Midi skirt or any trouser with fullness because sometime i confused what and where should pleat effect on both sides of pattern or whatever else

Thank you so much for your tutorials. They are detailed and straight to the point. Please, my question is this, while drafting collars, why should the collar line pass through 0.6cm mark from the HSP? This way, the collar line does not align with the neckline.

The collar edge should be longer than the neck line of the collar. If you draw the collar neck line the same as the body neck, the collar edge is too short. Does it make sense?

@@PatternStudio101 Yes, it makes sense. Thank you for your response. If I get you well, to make sure the collar edge is not too short, the collar neck line will not be the same as the body neck. That is collar neck will pass through ¼inch from HSP. Does it mean this method cannot be used to construct shawl collar where the collar neck line has to be the same with body neck?

@ruthola1977 That was not what I meant. The neck length of the collar & the neck length of the body should be the same. If you don’t go out 1/4", because of the collar angle, the collar edge length will be too short. Hopefully it makes sense. I have a video on shawl collar drafting as well.

It's my first time trying this, I'm a beginner and I have two question. First of all how do we sew the overlap line so that we have a clean finish, don't we need to have more fabric to turn behind and sew to have a double fabric and also be able to sew a botton, like in chemises ? Also you talk about the overlap but in the photos I don't see it. I'm confused am I supposed to see it? Lastly I get that the lapel is cut along with the bodice. Though the collar is cut and sewn on seperately right? I would appreciate to get and answer from you or anyone that would be eager to help. Thanks for reading my comment Byee, Christina :))

Hi, I'm not sure if I understood your question correctly. You said "overlap line" means the edge of the front? In this video, I show you how to draft a notched lapel and collar. That's only the front self. When you make a blazer, you need facing and lining. The center front edge will be sewn with the facing. In the beginning of drafting, I extend 3/4". You can see dashing at the center front. That's going to be overlap once you finish a garment. And yes, the collar should be cut separately. Hope it's clear. Thank you!

Yes maybe I didn't put it quite clearly, I did mean the edge around the lapel down to hem and you got that , bravo! I figured it out later on about the facing it surely cleared it out. Thanks for answering to my inquiries. Your tutorial had been very helpful, I've traced out the patterns and I'm ready to sew :) Have a nice rest of all that you're doing:) Christina:)
