More focus on our differences splits us apart. We need to focus on our similarities in order to teach true compassion, empathy and care for others. By the way, playing football in 4Inch heeled shoes is ridiculous and could lead to an horrific injury. Homosexuality should be treated the same way as any other sexuality, because homosexuals are still people and as such deserve basic human respect. The same is true of transgender men and women, who are, again, still people who deserve basic human respect and rights. We need not treat them special or different in any way, which is why I am personally opposed to the rainbow laces, if only for the pandering to people who need support, and not this meaningless pandering.

I used to feel this way, but I think my opinion has since changed. As I see it, the point is it takes bravery to be open about it, and people need to visibly see that bravery displayed in role models, for encouragement, and to set a societal standard. One thing that IS different about queer people to straight people is that there's lots of people out there that want to hurt them for who they are. If everyone was just silent about this difference, forever, nothing would change, and people would still be hiding from the world. Rainbows everywhere means we're all lumping in to confirm "it's Ok", and provide a counter to the loud angry voices that haven't had that much opposition throughout history, since historically we've killed people just for being different. So I don't think it's pandering, it's just support.

@@theAverageUpload3r i can kinda agree but at the same time it takes real action to do anything, rainbow laces on the boots of millionaire footballers doesn’t help the homeless LGBTQ youth who were kicked out of their homes for being LGBTQ, when there could be so much better work done like donating to organisations like The Trevor Project to help LGBTQ youth with their mental health should anyone need it, money actually will help. Gestures won’t feed or clothe people, or put roofs over their heads.
