Hey Frank. I have been a follower of your covers for like a few months. My dad passed away recently and I did not know how to deal with the sorrow of losing him. I was taking care of him until is last breath. This cover of yours opened something because I finally started crying. Thanks Frank. Take care and rock on.
Hey Frank, I know this is a very odd request but could you try “Highlands (Song of Ascent” by Benjamin Hastings? It’s my favorite worship song and really my favorite song overall. It speaks to me so much about having hope no matter the circumstances, and I think would be a great motivation to other Christian subscribers on your channel!
My father is 85, born in Los Angeles in 1938, and my worst fear is not being with him at the end. It could happen any day, but he's a world away. It would take me two solid days to reach him by the fastest transport we have, but there's barely an hour that goes by that I don't think about him. So, cheers to your memories, and cheers to all great dads in the world who've inspired the next generation of great sons and daughters. I honestly can't think of a better tribute. I tear up every time I think about him.
I was scared to click on this one. This song hits really heavily for me. My amazing mother who pretty much raised myself, my brother, and sister had this as her favorite song. She had requested at her passing to have this song played at her funeral. When this song comes on I can't help but break down. She had passed away at home, and I had found her. Immediately as the EMS were arriving, I had played that song on my phone because I know its what she would have wanted. Such a powerful song to me. As humans, especially men, we are told to move on so quickly, and life never stops. When I put this 8 minute video on I took that time to stop and experience this emotion with you. Frank thank you so much for what you do. So much love for you and what you do.
RU-vid randomly suggested this video to me. You know, out of a million videos I could have clicked on, sometimes the stars align and just tell you to go on, click it. I'm so glad I did. As someone that's listened to Metallica since their debut album in '81, I thought this was fantastic man. Had a bit of a rough patch lately, nothing bad, just a bit, but man did this brighten the day!! Glad I found this channel and I'll be subscribing!!! Thanks for doing this one Frank!
i dont care what you say and what anyone else says. you're a true musician. you dont just "play" the music. you feel the music and you share that feeling. at many of your covers i feel all the emotion you feel and you display the intent and reason for the piece perfectly. I can not describe the appreciation i have for you and the appreciation I have for you time, commitment, and talent. PLEASE keep doing what you're doing. Much love.
Frank, what a beautiful performance, man. Your voice is like worn-in leather slippers. The kind you dig out of the shoe cupboard every year on that first day of autumn when your feet just can't stand the cold anymore. The homely kind that makes you go "aaaah" after putting them on. Intro or no, this was beautiful, and I thank you for it.
This is seriously underappreciated! It's so earnest! To this day I thought covers on RU-vid divide into two categories - 1) people with incredible talent who do music as professional career and then adapt the song to whichever style they do in concerts etc. 2) people with more credible talent who make a career out of putting these on RU-vid, because their physique lends itself to pretty thumbnails appearently there is also a third category - 3) people with talent who can put a whole different level of emotion and empathy in these songs because they were afforded a long life, and though this group can't reasonable compete with the thumbnails of group 2), they more than level the playing field when it comes to the actual audio.
Jesus Frank, I'm always crying when I listen to your voice. I'm hearing music so differently through you. The words and melody take on such a deeper meaning. Thank you ❤
It’s been a while since I’ve commented on a video, but I just had to say I can’t stop coming back to your videos. They spark so much emotion and your voice is one of a kind. Thank you for another stellar song.
It took me a minute to work out what was different. I don't think I have ever heard this in 4 4 timing before. I didn't think 4 4 would be this beautiful. Well done Frank. The honesty of your delivery is amazing. Thanks Frank
Great Frank, I'm glad you decided to give it a go. Thank you! And of course, I was going to make it to the end, no excuses asked, just glad you talked with us, and your joke cadence always gets my laugh. Miles apart, similar hearts. HugS
Mate, your playing and singing is great! Every video I hear and watch from you always triggers emotions. Your songs have helped me get through my mother passing and inspires me to write. We love listening and watching your videos! You touch souls, it is beautiful. - Marcus
Oh my god ! I was just wow... And it's good to feel your own versions, it's totally different mood from metal songs but I really love it !!! Cheers up from Myanmar ! 🎉
There's something so touching about this pacing. I think it's gorgeous, and I think they would too. It's taking the song and giving it a new weight in a way, REALLY highlighting the lyrics. It's a beautiful song and one worthy of you covering it. Don't cut the joke!! Metallica would love that too ;)
Absolutely incredible interpretation of this beautiful Metallica song. As a 0.1% top fan of Metallica on Spotify and die hard Metallica fan, this was spectacular and not like so many of the other covers. You officially have another subscriber!
My goodness, I really appreciate and love your work! Your version of this song hits all the feels. Having just found you today, I'm so grateful for your work and your beautiful renditions. Thank you, very much. Xx
What a beautiful rendition Frank!! I am awestruck at how you make every song your own, its a skill that is really difficult to master and you clearly have
I was having trouble sleeping due to the pressure and less of the future days. I found this cover by chance. Thank you, you saved a lot of my nights thinking bad things...
As a Metallica fan for more than 25 years, I'd say job very well done!! Several more poppy renditions from big names can really put my neckhair on end, they're so cringe... But somehow, you giving it a different tone and rhythm, didn't bother me at all... on the contrary! Another excellent cover, my dear sir! Keep them coming, please! 👍
I LOVE YOU FRANK WATKINSON..❤There is nothing you can't sing and play,my friend. What a performance!! Glad Marshall is back.😊 Love that joke by the way.❤ Much Love from Ohio ❤😊
Respect. What a great, special cover from you, Sir Mr. Watkinson. You are a great musician. All the best, good health and thank you for this sensitive interpretation of this song. Greetings also to the sweet cat.
Almost medieval. This is absolutely fantastic. That extra bar makes me so happy and nostalgic at the same time. Seriously, did you just turn a Metallica song into a slip jig?
Frank, you are a unique individual and I appreciate your musical styling a lot. So humble and yet such a strong creative voice. Edit : that JOKE tho. 😂
A song that is very near and dear to my heart, done in an astoundingly beautiful form here. I appreciate the change to a minor key. Makes it feel unique. Most people just cover the song straight. Thanks for that mate! Also, that joke is golden. Would love to hear more.
Among everything that is wonderful about your interpretations- I find that your deep dives into all kinds of songs across every genre is a real gift to us all. These posts are magical, thank you for sharing.
