I´ve seen some division in the community regarding Guts giving in to the Beast of Darkness. Does it go against Guts´ philosophy and morals? Is it a shortcut? Was there any other way to obtain enough power to go against evil? 4:06 I go into detail on Guts here if you are interested.
Totally, the exclamation mark serves a purpose. I think it also showed how surprised Guts was at seeing the vision, yet I personally would have preferred a more "clean" look for the panel, such as the one in the Golden Age Arc. It's just a personal preference and by no means takes away the beautiful artwork Studio Gaga has shown in this chapter. Looking forward to more amazing panels in the future.
I am also eagerly waiting for an apostle fight. I am curious how the panels and double spreads will look by the studio. From the continuation chapters, I think it is safe to say that they will be amazing.
There's a chance guts kills everyone, including his friends... this is the only manga I've read where something like that is a possibility. I really hope not, but I could definitely see it happening...
Well, Berserk has never been shy to show brutal scenes, and with the statement that Guts will embark on some journey of his own from Kentaro Miura´s interview, it could happen. I personally do not think it will go this route just because Berserk has shown that death is not always the most painful thing. Sometimes specific traumatic events can become more miserable. I could see Guts nearly killing them, thus scaring their friendship and moving away on his own. It would definitely hit harder to know that his friends are still alive, yet he can not be near them, just as with Casca.
For some reason I can’t see Guts killing his friends, nor can I see him killing the Kushan army. He just seems too tired and broken to suddenly get up angrily and start swinging his sword at anything and everything once again. It would be nice to see Guts take a different approach to loss this time. However it’s obvious he still feels hate and anger, that’s why the Beast of Darkness is there and has broken from its chains, so it’s hard to say what’s going to happen. It’s basically two contradicting feelings being portrayed at the same time.
@Beyond Thinking I agree that I don't think it will happen, im just saying this is one of the only manga where it's actually a possibility, and it's nerve-racking. 😅 I feel a little less nervous after this chapter, seeing guts lying there defeated, but for a while I was super worried that his inner monster would take over, and guts would do something that he would deeply regret.
