Nothing Like Waiting Until The Last Minute- Days before plant 2021 we're tearing down the planter for some major upgrades. We are going to be installing a brand new Exact Emerge Performance Upgrade Kit from John Deere. We will be able to plant with better accuracy up to at least 10 MPH, which will make our planter more efficient.

Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Our dog "Dog" often likes to sleep in the tall grass next to the driveway, even in the rain. It's his life and it's something he chose to do. Funny how independent he likes to be until meal time, just like. me. Gotta love dogs.

We had a Jim, as we did his field work and he drove tractor getting fields ready in the spring and either ran the grain cart or disc cornstalks in the fall. Our Jim was a big help to us as there was 3 of us boss, me and Jim ,the boss would grease everything and fuel everything up and fill the planter and I was in charge of chores and Jim would do my job until I got there cuz we had 600 sows plus 100 gilts to add anytime and 100 hd of cattle and 3000 - 5000 hogs on custom feed and we farmed 2500 acres that was including Jim's ground and my son would show up and help me usually with chores after school and at night and weekends.

Tip from a guy that has done several of these retro fits over the past winter. When you go to put the new backbone harness in; take the floor out between the CCS tanks and use a ratchet strap to hold up all the other wiring and hydraulic hoses so you can run the new wiring and hoses underneath of it. Creates a lot more room to work with.
