I wrote this song when I was 17. I wanted to sing it for you guys as it felt very relevant to life right now. As the song is really personal to me I decided that I'd film it up close and personal too. If it looks like I'm getting emotional it's because I was. In a world where the music industry has become full of contrived and fake shit it's refreshing to hear and know there are still artists like Janet who deliver "real" straight from the heart music just like music is supposed to be, and sung with a voice that can take you to another world without actually going anywhere, love this girl!

I am a teacher and I am forwarding this to our teacher that teaches poetry in one of her classes. This is a brilliant example of how poetry, put to music, can emit strong emotions. And there are some who believe that poetry is not relevant and should not be taught anymore. Simply brilliant!

This song tops my list of Janet Devlin most-played. It was included in a limited-release 2013 EP to sponsors of her first album, but was never subsequently released broadly and I have no idea why. In my mind, and to my ear, it's a masterpiece.

I think this is the most beautiful song I have heard in quite some time. When I saw you first I thought you were a very good performer, but after wrapping my senses with your songs I feel privileged to be able to enjoy your music because they are authentic and from your soul, mind and your heart. 'silent screaming,hiding in the streets', 'building myself up just to tear myself down' 'Dancing to a song no one else can hear' and particularly this one 'I'm fighting with shadows when no one is around' hit home for me. You wrote this awesome song when you were 17? Absolutely immensely talented songwriter with an angel's voice to deliver what you feel/write to us. The music business is mad when you think that 99% of the so called singers are talent less and sing absolute trash. Stick to what you are doing Janet, someday you are going to get rewarded. I'm struggling with the loss of my Father from this earth and the loss of a Mother who hurt me beyond anyone could imagine. She hated me because my father loved me, my only crime.
