Nothing Phone 2a vs Galaxy A55 Speed Test - Nothing Phone 2a was just unveiled to the world this year and today we have a speed test comparison against the Galaxy A55 to test its performance and show you how it performs in multiple different areas. Nothing Phone 2a comes rocking a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 pro 8 core 4nm CPU with 8/12GB of RAM and comes with an 8GB of RAM booster along with a hyper-engine 5.0 to smooth out gaming frame rates. The Galaxy A55 comes rocking an Exynos 1480 4nm CPU coupled with 8GB of RAM and Android 14 with One UI 6.1. Nothing Phone 2a as of the recording of this video has Android 14 and Nothing OS 2.5.4.a. The midrangers are now just as usable in everyday life as the flagships. Of course, the flagships have a few more gimmicks and are sometimes a little better in terms of loading times and some games. But for the vast majority of users, this sort of thing plays absolutely no role in everyday life. One should not forget that the performance level of the midrangers is now at the level of the flagships of 3-4 years ago. And no one complained about the lack of performance of, for example, an S-21 at the time. Who cares today whether an application loads 1/2 second faster or whether swiping is EVEN smoother? Let's be honest, if you don't have a direct comparison, nobody cares.

I agree with your comment! They're pretty darn good today. I would glady use one over a flagship if it wasn't for the cameras. I value really high end photography and video quality so I prefer the ultra. However, most people don't need all the extra features so these phones have their place

Absolutely! So, speaking of performance, midrange phones these days are really holding their own. Especially if you're coming from a regular phone, you'll be pretty impressed with what they can do. But if you're used to the lightning-fast performance of a top-tier flagship like my OnePlus 9 Pro, you might notice a difference. Even though the benchmark scores might show them as equals, in real-life use, there's a bit of a gap. Like, when you're swiping around for navigation, it just feels smoother on the flagships, Also the cameras are better. But hey, progress is being made, and midrange phones are getting closer and closer to that top-tier experience. So while they might not be there yet, they're definitely on the right track!

My opinion: Do not go with Exynos 1480 if you are using it for more than 3 years, it will suck. Matter of fact, the speed and performance it gives is seriously not compatible with the upcoming android versions

As of 16 April 2024, in India the A55's 8/128 variant ($480) is more expensive than the Nothing Phone 2's 12/512 variant ($467) & the Nothing Phone 2A ($287) is 40% cheaper than the A55. So in India the A55 is a pathetic phone at it's price point. (Better options than the Galaxy A55 for the same price or cheaper include.. OnePlus 12R, Nothing Phone 2 & Iqoo Neo 9 Pro)

I honestly don’t like the look of nothing os. The os just looks boring to me with the black and white aesthetic. Then if you change it to the stock icons it just looks like stock Android. One UI looks more mature in my opinion.

I was shock even samsung has faster processor, the ram management still left behind which some apps that you reopened has reloaded again. While nothing has lowered benchmark compared to samsung still can optimise the ram management with the faster animation plus with smoother transition. I would pick nothing over samsung because in my country Malaysia the nothing priced is RM1,699 and samsung priced is RM1,999.

iPhone user here 👋 Nothing really put me to the test … of course I am completely in the Apple ecosystem and I don’t plan to leave it at any point. But I laugh everything that nothing does. And even the thing about the app icons is just so smart. Not only on this Samsung device, but basically on every android phone I’ve seen and used so far, the app icons wear one major issue for me because on android everything always looked so messy. One reason why I laugh the iPhone so much… Nothing steps in at this point with their own OS and simply makes it better. You can absolutely tell, that a lot of things they do, are inspired by Apple and Carl Pei It’s just one hell of a CEO. Like I mentioned before, I am not gonna leave the Apple ecosystem and all my beloved devices but since I’ve first seen the nothing phone, I find myself searching for reasons to get a second phone in regular intervals.
