@Anthony Lee Because back then, the artist sold the music. Nowadays the music sells the artist. Everything now is so engineered from the lyrics to the sound and the image/ persona. It's all marketing. It's no longer about the music, it's about sales and how much they can make. If you really pay attention, you'll notice that everyone pretty much sings about the same subjects. There's no real storytelling anymore. It's all about what words and phrases they can use to illicit the desired response from the listener. That's part of what Don McLean was referring to in American pie when he says the day the music died.
This song feels like the embodiment and encapsulates the 1980s. Even with its flaws and problems, the 1980s was one of the greatest and most magical time periods in human history! 😊
This has to be one of the most life assuring songs ever to be produced. “Nothings gonna stop us…standing strong forever”. Therapists use this song for the severely depressed. How can you not feel 10x better after listening to this song. Privileged to have lived through the 80’s!
I love this song very very much and love the movie "Mannequin". I had watched this movie on 1986 and that is change my life. I have been working Visual Merchandising job over 27 years
It's July 2021 now, I grew older (44) and still look Back to the songs of the 80's. They often were real, with soul and unique. Today nearly every Song Sounds the Same. Is that just my impression? What do you think?
I have this impression as well. Also, a lot of female voices now sound like Rihanna... In 80-ies - Annie Lennox, Kate Bush, S.Nicks, W.Houston, D.Bozzio, etc. all had totally different voices. And songs are way too synthetic, In 80-ies synths and drum machines sounded quite natural.
Simplesmente maravilhosa... Saudades dessa época... Saudades da minha infância...saudades de pessoas dessa época... É voltar no tempo...tempo tão bom... Quantas lembranças..........
116 dislikes? you folks dont know what great music is ... pity ... FYI this song inspired a lot of people during its era and the generation of kids on those era grew up to be a better person today!
Canta muy bien la cantante, tiene un tono de voz muy similar a la cantante original de este hit eterno de los '80s. gracias por este posteo!!! 💓🎶🎼🎵🎶🎤🎸🎧🎶🎵🎶
Grace would probably not want to sing this song anyway-- she couldn't stand it!!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GAiQf-jQhWI.html&t=267
The very few singers from 80's and 90's still have their voices intact and dare to sing live. I called that being professional. ForThe Great majority their voices are already gone for several reasons not worth to mention here and for those it's shameful and sad when they have to rely on playback even for concerts. One of my favorite songs ever.
