Shouldn't affect it; current can only be "pulled" by the device, so at a specific voltage the amount of amps being drawn will be constant. However, a lower voltage may reduce the skip rate since the capacitor will take longer to charge. Haven't actually tried this though.

I have the open grill one and it’s really cool! My only personal complaint is only 2 wire but it also only skips on 2 wire :/

Actually, any model of the SpectrAlert Advance series can be mounted on either the wall or the ceiling due to the design of the strobe; it says so in the manual. Also, since this is just a demo system and it's not being used for legitimate protection, it's not that big of a deal if it's not code compliant. Thanks for watching!

Well, I only allow ceiling mounts on ceilings at my house, and wall mounts on walls only at my house only.
