Richtig starkes Video! Freue mich schon jetzt auf den Austausch mit dir. Es ist schon spannend, deine Entwicklung der Videos und der steigenden Qualität zu beobachten! Einfach weitermachen. Liebe Grüße aus Hamburg. ❤
Thanks for this amazing video! Another great use case is when you want to create a new (nested) database inside a database page. I also wish Notion would add dynamic dates so that we can specify today + x days.
@matthias Frank can you please help me ?? I bought a template called flasaphic from envato and I want to delete the account button on the home menu but it doesn’t work
@@mfreihaendig Your idea to use it for daily tasks instantly caught my attention. I've tried so many different ways of setting up a simple recurring task system for daily life tasks (I have a more robust system for my job that works great) and haven't liked any of them so far. I could also see this being great for adding tasks to a project database inside a templated page since there's usually a regular cadence to those (project kickoff, design, creative review, revisions, hand off).
thanks for this! if you want to get more people to keep watching your videos, I'd suggest to provide a value pitch a lot quicker. Why is this valuable to me? Intro was a good hook but then it took to long to keep my attention. Recommend Simon Sinek's golden circle approach. But keep up the good work!
@@d6h597 haha I feel you! In case you want some more stuff to do instead of working, I just released a video with my 99 favourite notion tips 😅 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DaVY04Dxaic.html
Some great examples you gave. Eagerly awaiting this to drop in my account. Looking forward to using a button to close out open entries on a timesheet..
@@mfreihaendig Could you maybe open a page with an embeded that triggers it? I guess it depends if you need to send data and authentication. I'd also love to be able to apply templates. That seems like a major missed opportunity.
Congrats on the video and use cases! That's a powerful addition to Notion. Are you aware of a limit to the number of actions? I'm working on a case similar to your #3 but I can't add more than 10 tasks/actions. I can't duplicate or add new ones.
You can’t set them up during template setup, because that won’t generate a fresh set of tasks - instead, all iterations will be linked to the same 5 (or 10) tasks you originally created
How to I edit an existing button that adds a recurring template to a different database? I want to use this for university notes and I don’t want to have to keep creating content in each notes page
How do you create this "impossible filter" you suggested at the beginning? That might be very helpful to me, but I was never able to do it, as anything that I add as a filter is actually added to the new entry in this view.
@@mfreihaendig Thanks for the reply! I tried that before, but there was an issue: this only worked if I created something new in this database. If I dragged something into it, another block from the page or another entry from another database into this filtered view, the name would be automatically deleted, as the database would adapt the content to the view. Either way, I just found another solution: using a Created Date property with a filter for when it this value is empty solved the issue ;)
Hey Matthias, how would you deal with longer mails, of mails which have the entire conversation (Re: Re: , etc.) in the mail? also, do you know how to split longer requests above 4000 tokens into chunks in make? curious if anybody encountered the same issue
Depends on your goals - you could adapt the prompt to summarise the conversation whenever Re: is detected in an email or you could split the email at each Re and process them individually For splitting you have various options - the simplest being to just chunk after every ~10,000 characters using a length formula ☺️💪🏻
I think I found a bug in the edit database feature, because even though once you finish the action it applies the property changes, if you try reloading the page some of the properties (like date, status, relations) are back to their previous value 🤯
well feature! thx for tutorial! i have a question, how to erase empty lines in my tablet if i want to add new ones? (all of them just duplicates, when i'm clicking on button to add my usual routine)
The buttons don’t have a built-in delete feature yet - so your best bet would be to create a filter on your view to hide the unused items and then apply that filter through the button 💪🏻
@@mfreihaendig yeah, first i tried to put the limit for new pages, but its not what i really want then i added advanced filter which hiding empty spaces, but they still exist hope they'll fix that. anyway, thanks!
@@mfreihaendig no I published only page in which buttons are linked to another pages. But it seems to it not works. I just found it buttons not work on published pages
Is there a way to let the button create a FILTERED view of a specific database? I would like to create a view of my invoices database inside a client page that's filtered for that specific client project. I have tried everything and just can't figure it out :-|
Thanks for this Matthias, do you only get the 'open page' after you've added a page? If so, then i guess you can't use them to navigate around notion? eg creating a 'home' button
Ok, what drives me crazy is how the whole internet is oblivious to the fact that the task list added via the BUTTON is in reverse order. NOBODY is complaining about it on any forums. Matthias Frank and Thomas Frank... oh what do you know... both Franks! Anyway, you all just click on the button and pretend you didn't see this happen. WHY!? Am I living in the twilight zone? Am I in the Truman Show? What the hell is going on?! Why is nobody talking about this?! CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE ANSWER ME!!!
@@mfreihaendig haha thank god you noticed. so the best time stamp to explain this would be 6:32. You have created the button with Task 1, Task 2, and Task 3 (in this order). But when you use the button, it lists Task 3, Task 2, and Task 1 (the reverse order from top to bottom). It looks like I just have to make the button in the opposite order ON PURPOSE, to get the list to display the way I want.
@@libykim6259 That's because buttons mimic the effect of clicking the big blue NEW button on the top right of a database - that also adds new entries to the top of an unsorted database (Thomas Frank was so kind to double-test that behaviour and compare it with a bunch of other scenarios😎) Instead of creating it in the opposite order, you could simply add a sort to your database Sorting by Created Time / Last Edited Time would be the simplest way to achieve that 💪🏻
@@mfreihaendig Wow, that explains it all, thank you. Although I still would have liked it to list from top to buttom, understanding how it works at least gives me a peace of mind. I didn't know Thomas Frank tested this. Well, thanks again.
This update lagged my phone . And i could not even retrieve my python notes that i accidentally deleted on notion . What a dreadful moment. They should fix their app on retrieving accidental deleted information.
@@mfreihaendig you know what is the most strangest thing ? I deleted by accident and went to the trash area to find the accidental deleted page and I could not find it . Tried opening my computer to see if I can retrieve it says “this page could not be found”. And what is the most frustrating thing is that I create a simple buttons on notion, tried using my phone to see if it works , it lagged the entire notion on my phone . That is seriously crazy . And it’s a relatively new phone.
