This generation will NEVER understand the impact Bone Thugs had in the 90's. The ONLY group in history to make songs with Eazy E, Pac, Biggie, Big Pun, DMX. And we not even talking about Phil Collins, Mariah Carey, and others who made music with them.
Stevie J produced this beat i bumped into him at the StL Galleria several years back and i stopped him and gave him mad props on his work here, he was kind of taken aback i knew he did that we had a great moment. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves for this here
I remember those years, especially 1998, the year of release. The album was produced after Biggie's death. I was 15, now I'm 40, but those songs are still on my best playlist. Biggie, Bizzy and Krazy did a great job on this song.
Love this song, it brings me back to 97 when it came out and I was the only goth skater punk metalhead in the local club every Sunday on all ages Hip Hop night, this was the jam and everyone went crazy when it came on
Man, i love Bone Thugs. They were just so different. They had a sound that was sometimes so haunting yet so dope. The first minute of this song slowly building up was crazy

And the beat,amazing bassline,timing,breaks...just awesome This is what you call a classic.
I first saw your eyes change at the very beginning. I smiled hard knowing it was gonna get you going. Then the notorious thugs hit, you were going. Then the music came in and it coalesced into the full music, l was jumping with you like the first time hearing it all over again.
Yeah mad, I'm from Australia and I grew up on this. Still the best rap song of a generation, the production on this is timeless, bizzy's verse is among the best in history also, no one was rapping like this. Bone 4 life.
I was 23 when this double disc cd dropped and I got it immediately. When I first heard this song. I lost my mind because I was a huge fan of both Biggie and Bone Thugs then. I had this song from then on in heavy rotation. It never made mainstream, but it showed me how diverse Biggie was because he put them on his album and altered his style to blend with them. RIP Biggie and shout out to Bone Thugs.
@@Jayothechosen The album wasn't released till the end of March after he pass. Plus Bone said they didn't hear the finish song till after the album drop.
@@Charles-qm3mo ok the album didn't come out until after he was killed but Notorious Thugs was out before then. I distinctly remember hearing it on the radio and that was at least two months before he was killed.
@@Jayothechosen Life after death was released on March 25, Big die on the 9. BONE themselves said they didn't hear the song till after the album got drop, if it was playing on the radio before they would of known about, right ?
@@Charles-qm3mo well they got their dates mixed up cause that song was definitely getting radio play before March 9th let alone March 25th of 1997. I mean, artists do release songs as singles before an album drops. Same way with Hypnotize that was out before Biggie was killed too.
Growing up with B.O.N.E., no Internet, no lyrics, no lyrics videos. We had to learn the lyrics by learning the songs over, and over, and over again. You actually had to slow the song down just to learn the lyrics. BONE will forever be legends.

The difference between today and the past is you actually had to be more than just a "rhythmic listener. " Most of these kids today only like to hear a beat or write something catchy on a beat. Back in the day, it took real talent. The bar kept being raised until it couldn't be anymore.

Going from BIG's cold hard delivery to Bizzy's melodic verses is just some of the best rap ever delivered. Bizzy is talking about their beef with 3-6 Mafia at the time around 1995. This whole song is an experience.

I'm not really a biggie fan But I'll listen to his music, but I'm not really a biggie fan. But I do like the song that he made with bone thugs And I'm glad they got a chance to make a song with him before he passed away.
I was blessed to be born in 1982. From that year, I was in a spot where I could later appreciate the music my parents grew-up listening to (oldies from the 50's, 60's and 70's) to the golden age of not just hip-hop but also R&B (during the times of SWV, Mary J Blige, Zhane, Michael Jackson, Aaliyah, 112, Jodeci, Mint Condition and so many more). Most "rap" nowadays is trash not just on a lyrical level (delivery/tempo and complexity) but also on a production musical level. Everything is just so lazy and 1-dimensional nowadays.
On some Bad Boy Records tip... There's a song from Ma$e that goes hard called _Stay Out of My Way._ Before he blew up and was signed to Bad Boy, Mason Betha used to be in a group with Big L, Killa Cam n 'nem. They were lyrically fire tho. Young and hungry. So when that aforementioned song came on that Bad Boy album, it was kinda unexpected because Diddy was tryna take a more pop music approach woth his rappers. But people forgot that Ma$e can spit. *Honorable Mention:* I guess Cam and Ma$e done squashed their decades long beef and came together to put out an amazing track with Jadakiss: _Gorilla Lion Hyena._ Please check that out at some point.
I appreciate your reaction to my boys Bone Thugs . I was not much of a Biggie fan because I was for 2pac back then in the 90's when they had beef. Im older now and understand Biggie was also good. He did exceptionally well in this song. He even had to rewrite hid flow to match Bone's flow. This music was amazing. My generation had a lot of gang violence. Bloods and Crips. Kings, ect. The police were awful. Just slaughtering young gangsters and even innocents. You wull find a lot of song addressing these issues. Like No Surrender by Bone Thugs. Bone Thugs, 2 Pac, Biggie Smalls, DMX, Ice Cube, Three Six Mafia (Bone rivals), David Banner, Lil Flip, Too Short, and Chamillionare, were my faves. We sure did bang the beats in the trunk back then I would say try Chamillionaire(Turn it up) or David Banner(Get like Me or Shawty Say) they're dirty souf. Three Six Mafia "Poppin My Collar" or "Stay Fly"
