Notre Dame's Offense was off due to missing their center for sure. Multiple bad snaps including a couple doinkers really kept Ian off guard. Give credit to Mack Brown for a well coached and prepared team. That being said ND's defense was GREAT. Shut them out of the second half completely. High powered offense like that getting shut down is impressive. Offense just needs to play better.
Correll looked good today. He wasn't a problem. The issue was more so Lugg, who looked really underwhelming and apparently, he was playing hurt. Kraemer comes back next week, so that's a good thing.
@@chris57421 yeah the line definitely had a bit of a challenge today but this was good practice for them and overall not a bad performance from the O-line today. as long as they can get these reps in as a group come ACC Championship time... i think we’ll still give Clemson a run for their money👌🏽
@@NexGenSlayer Clemson lost that game in the trenches. Notre Dame won the line of scrimmage on almost every play. Held Clemson to their lowest rushing total in 9 years.
I’m really impressed by how Notre Dame’s defense stepped up after their star Kyle Hamilton was ejected. 3 points since then against the Number 1 offense in the country
With the 2 starting offensive lineman out, the Irish did not run the ball as well as they usually do. Must improve before the Championship game vs Clemson.
@@johnflynn7861 You mean Alabama... Tell me, what SEC team do you root for? I bet they haven't won a national championship in a long while, if you're cheering for the Conference...
He's only junior and he could play at the nfl lvl he could of went to the nfl draft his freshman year but decided to play the rest of his college years
Notre dames defense is so good and when they get to sam howell its not just one their defense really rallies to the ball. This might be the best defense in college football
@ I agree. I’ve been an ND fan since 1990 and honestly I think this is probably the best team they’ve had since their dominant years of 88-93, but unfortunately I still don’t think they can beat Bama, Ohio State, or Clemson a second time. I think their defense is great, but they just don’t score enough points. And when I say their defense is great, I guess I mean it has been great. Bama could throw down 50 on us for all I know.
I REALLY DISLIKE Notre Dame a great deal. I'm a life long Clemson fan, and I've not cared for Notre Dame or Ohio St. for over twenty years. So, what I'm about to say, I never thought I would say EVER!!!! After watching Notre Dame make defensive adjustments after half time, I have to say Notre Dame has a COMPLETE TEAM. They play hard nosed, SOUND, and most importantly DISCIPLINED football. They don't turn the ball over, they have minimal penalties, and they are very GAP SOUND. I blamed our Clemson loss on the fact that we had several starters out. I'm not so sure they would have beat us anyway now. Notre Dame deserves all the credit in the world for their play on the field, and even more credit for doing what it takes OFF THE FIELD to be successful on the field. Notre Dame is definitely a CFP team, and they have all the tools in place to win it all. Truthfully, ANY Notre Dame haters that can't see that now, are still just in DENIAL and are not true college football fans. We have to give them credit, THEY HAVE EARNED IT. Now let me go wash my mouth out. LOL. GO CLEMSON TIGERS!!
@Kenneth Burleson, Classy comment. Part of the fun of being a fan is disliking ( and as far as that team up north goes, hating ) other teams. I'd love another shot at your guys in the playoffs this yr, but with 3/4 of our secondary gone to the NFL, I don't like thinking about what Lawrence could do to this one. They gave up 3 plays over 50 yds last season and gave up 4 to I.U. last week alone. Your last sentence had me laughing, with visions of Ralphie in A Christmas Story. I'm a little bummed that UNC won't get to play your team this yr. They're gonna be a team to reckon with under Mack Brown.
@Ken you're a true and honest fan, that's rare these days. Not saying that because I am am Irish fan...just saying it because you can see past your dislike and understand good and bad points about other teams. Most fans can't. I like Clemson too, btw
I don't think he's better than the top QBs. ND is way more talented than the teams that they typically play in the ACC. They have elite OL, RB, and tall athletic WRs/TEs. Their offense still struggles in most games against unranked teams. Also he clearly got outplayed by a freshman QB in the Clemson game. ND was able to win because of their running game and run defense. I think there are better options at QB in the draft.
@@trippieblue9207 He still got outplayed by DJ (a freshman). QB play was not the reason they won the game. I'm not saying that Book shouldn't get drafted, but drafting him to be the franchise guy would be a weird choice.
ND was at least four touchdowns better than UNC. They whipped them the whole game after the first quarter but missed out on some opportunities. If you call this team overrated, you're just a hater. It's that simple. Only team that has been better is bama
@Theodore Nahas troll. Ohio state looks like they have gone backwards from last year. Florida looks great but will get whipped by Bama. Nd is a solid team all around. Only two teams are as good or better and that’s Clemson and Bama.
@Theodore Nahas dude did you watch the game. Unc should’ve been up by at least 7 at half if they didn’t make some very critical mistakes and if they didn’t jump offsides would’ve on that 4th down they would’ve never scored that TD
Coming from a ND fan: ND shouldnt talk about playoffs or Chamionship yet. ACC championship is the first big goal to reach, which will be tough but possible and afterwards we can talk about Bama, OSU and their weaknesses
ND is a good team. One of the best TEs I've ever seen. Noone wants any part of Bama. Its unfortunate this season will have an * beside it. This is the best Bama team I have seen. Balanced at every position. 6 1st round draft picks and 9 in the first 1.5 rounds.
As an Ohio State fan who thinks NDs teams are often overrated, I don’t think this one is. I think they’re the clear number 1 team and can play with anybody
Id pump the breaks...they lost Patterson for the season prior to this game. Hard to replace a elite run blocking center like that. It will be much harder for them to run in general now I think with him gone.
As a bama fan there good but not no number one team.. if anything it’s bama or Ohio state. I think it should be Alabama , Ohio state, ND and Clemson in the playoffs
@@loganallen2550 Ohio state is good but not better then Notre dame I’ve loved Notre dame all my life we’ve never played this hard and we can beat Ohio state and a healthy clemson if Notre dame watches Ohio states film they’ll learn to try to get their secondary’s in
@wholly33 yes exactly. while ND does have some studs on Def. and Off., they do it without “stars”. they are using what they got, which is, on paper, average to above average talent. we don’t get these 30 yr. old looking 5 star freshman that committed to Alabama since elementary school. it’s usually 3 or 4 star recruits.
HATERS : "Notre Dame isnt any good. They have a weak schedule. They need to join a conference to be considered for the National Title." NOTRE DAME : "HOLD OUR CHALICE !!! " Joins ACC. Beats 2 top 20 teams. Beats the #1 team in the nation. Goes 9-0. CAN YOU HEAR THE GHOSTS ??? CAAAAAAN YOOOUUUUUU DIG IIIIIIIIIIIIITTTT ?!?!?!
ND fan here. Ian Book will never start a game in the NFL lmao. He is smart and doesn't make mistakes, but he has nowhere near the arm talent to succeed in the NFL.
I don’t really see a path for a&m, I mean if Nd lost by 28 to Clemson, and it was a Clemson and Miami acc champ game, no one would be bringing up Nd for playoffs, so I don’t see how A&M can be brought up
As a UNC fan, Phil Longo needs to go and our defense needs a lot of discipline. Only UNC would give Norte Dame a 1st down on 4th down when they do absolutely nothing. And for the love of God we cannot tackle. But great game by Norte Dame, especially their defense. Sam was clearly not comfortable in the pocket. Although that could also be our terrible O-line, too
as an irish-american, i'm offended by the offensive and insensitive mascot stereotyping my ethnicity, and demand that they be known from here on out as 'notre dame football team'...
Anyone know how that targeting call stood? You play it perfect, lead with the shoulder and aim for center mass but the offensive player lowers their head and somehow that’s on the defense?
@Sam Jones it was a dumb play on Kyle Hamilton’s part regardless because it was 3rd and 20. All he had to do was make a clean tackle and Irish D was off the field. It cost em 3 pts
@@TheDeviousCat suspended? You mean ejected? That hit look completely clean to me. No bad intention would make it not a penalty. It’s forcible contact, not incidental.
You mean the Derek Carr who beat Patrick Mahomes, and is looking like a Pro Bowler with his only consistent receiving target being his TE? Raiders need help at literally every position on defense before QB

Notre Dame is missing two starter offensive linemen and most of their receiving corps not to mention a key player DQ from the game and they still smash mouths!
Very pissed by this game. You can’t give up 3rd and impossibles. You have to sack the Qb when given the opportunity. Just so much wrong. Unc shouldn’t have been able to score and ND should’ve scored on every drive.
You cant expect to shut out a top 5 offense like UNC lol. But I was also pretty pissed, ngl. I shut the game off after we gave up both that 3rd & 18 and the 3rd & 20 targeting call. Still, a wins a win and they should be savored.
@@jonnybaze Jonny...finish your cookies and milk now....it's past your bedtime. Yeah....ND is supposed to win by 100+ points and shut every team out....because they're Notre Dame...that's the rules.
If Notre Dame wins out, including winning the ACC championship, they’re then obviously a lock for the CFP. The only thing is will they at that point be number 1, or number 2??? Also if Notre Dame wins next two games, but loses a close game vs Clemson in the ACC championship, I think they would still make the CFP, but most likely be the number 4 seed. What do u think?
Only way Nd gets the one seed is if bama loses, or if Nd totally blows out clemson (highly unlikely) if they lose a close game I think they would get the 4 seed, as long as bama beats Florida
As much as I think nd deserves a spot, I think the cfp committee purposely has Texas a&m and Florida at 5 and 6 respectively so that the loser of the nd/clemson game gets pushed out. If notre dame loses to clemson, they will say "well thats 2 losses because Trevor Lawrence didn't play the first game" we all know esecspn is going for the double sec teams in the cfp.
Also sometimes I share this, the Bible says that GOD loves us so much that he sent his son JESUS CHRIST to this earth and HE lived a perfect sinless life. And JESUS went to a cross and gave HIS life for us.And rose again in 3 days and who ever will receive JESUS AS THEIR SAVIOR AND ASK HIM TO COME INTO THEIR HEART AND FORGIVE THEIR SINS,HE WILL TAKE YOU TO HEAVEN.
Jesus said if you keep my commandments ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Fathers commandments, and abide in His love. The love of God that He will always be with us. “For out of all those that you gave me I have lost none.” “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” “I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.” The promises of God through His Son that nothing shall separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord give us confidence and peace during these troubled times. “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Exodus 21:20-21 ESV “When a man strikes his slave, male or female, with a rod and the slave dies under his hand, he shall be avenged. But if the slave survives a day or two, he is not to be avenged, for the slave is his money." Read your bible folks
@@sdog1234 The word you used for slave in the King James Version is servant. What happened in those days is if you owed someone a debt you couldn’t pay you would take on the role of serving someone to pay off a debt(slave) Then after the debt was paid you could go. There was laws against violence to these servants in 21:16 it says “And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.” The slavery that the United States done and the “slavery” mentioned in Exodus 21:20 are two totally different things. But I have come across a lot of media outlets talking about the Bible defending beating and stealing human beings which is definitely not the God I serve. God is love. But people will bring it up so they won’t feel guilty about the choice they have to make. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on a cross to cleanse us from our sin. Freedom, to be with God again. We have to make the choice of coming to Him for forgiveness and love or live our lives in sin and bondage. It’s our choice but it does have consequences. God wills it that none should perish in their sins, that’s why He’s merciful to us. But ultimately He honors our free will. I hope you choose life and love with Jesus friend
Does anyone here think that if Cincinnati blows out number 24 Tulsa & wins big in the AAC championship, that they can then get into the CFP??? Just curious.
I just hope that Notre Dame gets to play in the ACC Championship game, and win or lose, gets to play in a major bowl game or in the playoffs because I believe, that with the media outlets and with our health professionals in panic mode over the Thanksgiving holidays, that if these numbers spike, like they are predicting will happen, it will being back government lockdowns again, and with these lockdowns college football will be canceled just like March Madness was canceled last March. I hope that this doesn't happen for Notre Dame or for the rest of the schools that are having a great year but don't be surprised if we get our 2nd major lockdown again from Covid 19. The potential for not having a post season is likely again like it was for college basketball. The NFL might be temporarily shut down as well with a playoff in March or April and a Super Bowl in April or May.
Who is the guy with the mink stole on his neck? Surely he doesn’t think he capable play with that n’émane and not get hurt? Hey, I lived in Indiana for 3 years, it’s cold, but not that cold
@Frank...I don’t need silly political statements from 20 year old kids, and especially from privileged athletes. 20 year old kids should be 20 year old kids and leave the race baiting phrases to those that do it. And we know who they are
ND didn’t exactly destroy the Tarheels. They ain’t ready for Alabama, although I want to see it. Then everyone can stop talking about it after they get destroyed.
I’m not a fan of either team, nor do I care who won, but (not that it would have made that big of a difference) the refs were not very on the ball today. There were many bad pi calls on UNC, and they didn’t call multiple holds on Notre Dame when Book was scrambling around so much. I think Notre Dame is certainly better than years prior but don’t think they are quite natty contenders.
No all those pass interference calls were obvious penalties. Also unc had a late hit on book when he was 5 yards out of bounds which the refs did not call. Refs had nothing to do with the outcome.
I get that a majority of referees nowadays will miss a few penalties here and there but, to say that they missed every possible holding penalty in this game is retarded. How about you chalk it up to excellent offensive line play? With two starters missing on the line they still managed 200 yards rushing. The only knock on their offense is the absence of elite speed on the perimeter. They need Lenzy and Austin back.
That is false. Georgia was better last season and Notre Dame gave them all they could handle. Florida and AM are good but Notre Dame is better at the lines and would control them late. Alabama is good. That is one where we will wait and see if they play. Vegas definitely makes them a favorite over ND.
I most definitely can see ND failing in the College Football Playoff. They are just not tough enough physically and mentally ESPECIALLY physically. This have been proven when it comes to them and that trend will continue. They can't beat CLEM(with Trevor Lawrence), definitely not ALA and especially OSU. OVERRATED every season and it's painfully obvious. ND fans just accept these facts and everything will be ok 👍😉.
