Keep in mind Corrigan lost to Duke/Danowski TWICE in the national championship, 2010 and 2014. That takes some serious commitment to come back 13 years later and beat the #1 seed and Danowski's squad. Third time really was the charm! Also, they avenged their only two losses of the season to UVA on Saturday. In overtime. I think this win constitutes a big middle finger from ND to the seeding committee;) They proved they're #1 the hard way.
@@nayr497 nobody was going to stop Maryland last year although ND should have earned a bid _ The ACC was shafted and the Ivy League was over-rated _ in addition to the 2 National Championship Losses ND lost to Duke 3 other times in the Tournament _ 0-5 against Duke in the Tourney now 1-5 _ ND finally got one Congrats
@@kennethsomers3893 Seasons are always long, so I forget. Are you saying ND missed the tournament last year? (I can't remember off the top of my head, though I do recall people being upset with so many Ivies.) If so, an even bigger wow that they came back and won it this year! 0-5, must feel great for Corrigan/team/staff to finally beat Duke in the NC.
@@vipwanrinkle6439two of em, i think! i’d bet a lot of money that his brother got concussed in the semi and/or today in the ship. those guys grappled with some gnarly hits, gonna be the sweetest kind of sore tomorrow lol go irish!
Hell of a match! Those kavanaughs are tough as hell. Playing with a torn hamstring is crazy 🤯 and hats off to duke they were right there the whole game
UConn should get a lacrosse team! They should turn their old football stadium in Storrs into a lacrosse stadium! It would basically be a whole stadium-revamp though.
I've never heard of or watched lacrosse. Watching this and the fans going wild I feel like some extraterrestrial who just landed on earth and is clueless in awe
Those kavanaugh brothers, Jesus Christ, absolutely dominated. that family bloodline is something else. I remeber his brother. I guess those apples don't fall far from the tree.
ND sophomore Will Lynch went 12-19 against Naso. THAT was the difference maker. Yup, Entenmann played great too, but ND isn't winning this if the two Chaminade guys didn't have huge days. Not many FOGOs outduel Naso. And Lynch did well against LaSalla, Mr. Two National Championships FOGO.
Agreed. Lynch was the unsung hero. That semifinal against Virginia, he had 2 must win faceoffs against LaSalla. One with 1 minute left in 4th, down a goal. He loses that, it's over. The other to start OT. Clutch!
The level of play is gonna be abyssal outside of america, canada and maybe UK. In France, there is like 20 club at best in the whole country. And I'm not talking about serious team, I'm talking about 20 hobby club. It's probably even equal or even worst for other European country.
I literally don’t understand how defense and offense works. Can’t one guy just sprint down the field while his teammates block and hold back the defenders? Are they allowed to tackle or just whack each other with sticks? Why not recruit guys who are like running backs to just run it down everytime. Seems like an easier version of hockey.
It’s in tv lol also, highlights never do the game justice. You don’t get to see all the defensive highlights and the battles that ensue. Highlights are just scoring, but none of the stuff in between.
Lacrosse is based of a native american game. And while hockey is English, it's archaic earlier variations could be found practically everywhere. From Egypt to India. Wherever people had stick, they decided to hit a ball like object if they could find.
Lacrosse desperately needs to GET RID of the FACEOFFS after every goal. There should be 2 per game. This game would take over if it was played like basketball.. After every goal the ball should be thrown to a player at X then the clear should start. The action of lacrosse is too fast paced to constantly stop.
I've thrown that around a few times myself. Definitely pros and cons to both. It allows a team to feel like they're never out of it, by continuing to win faceoffs and scoring. However, on the flip side, it can be frustrating when your offense hasn't had a shot or even had the ball in 5 or 6 in game minutes because you can't win a faceoff.
@@jonwolf83 the pros greatly outweigh the cons from an entertainment standpoint...which is why Lacrosse is in a state of false growth...It's spreading but it's not growing.
Whatever. If you love a sport, fine. But like, you can’t go “professional”. These dudes out there going hard a celebrating like some scout is there watching them 😂 Yes, there is professional LaCrosse, just like there is “Professional” anything else, but it’s not big. You’re not getting paid big bucks, you’re not going to be in Beer Commercials, people are not ordering Wing Stop to watch the big LaCrosse game 😂
Was Duke 10 man riding there? I don't think I've seen that from them this year. Saw UVA do it plenty, and I definitely did not see every Duke game, but had they done this before or did they try it in the NC and it backfired? I'd love to know!
