I lived at Hovingdon Street, I think it was, next to the pub, when I was 4 in 1969. I remember the flats, the vibrant community not far from downtown, and best of all Goose Fair. In truth, the NCC did not upkeep these flats and they were built sub-standard. Great memories, despite what your hear, little to no racism there.

Quinn's fish n chip shop Shipstone St. and Hyson Green .... whoooo !!! ''' give us our daily bread'''' I emigrated in 1968 to Aussie , still here on the beaches of the Gold Coast cheers !!! good old Brownie's !

I remember the area...I lived on Shipstone St.Hyson green ....the slums there ..I would not go ... But I remember the building of the high rises.... I'd be 17/18 ...I thought OMG ...in Nottingham...why I left it all in 1968 .. as a single man..I emigrated to Australia......left ally world behind..mum was so upset... but as a young man....I thought so so still here at Surfers Paradise Queensland..1968 .... Been a long holiday....
I had blankets that was overcoats and we slept in a bed of four ,, feet up n feet down . if any ones interested please let me know !we used the babies pram to fetch coke from the gas works at old basford ,My play ground was the Scottholme pub !! on the corner of Gladstone street and Radford road ..do any of you are out there ...
Dodge Boy I used to go there and sit in the back yard - Raymond was the land lords son I think there was a big family that lived in the corner house kenny scatting when’re to scotholme school

I Remember the flats well, I lived in Radford Boulevard then New Basford i used to do my shopping at times in Hyson Green the area around the flats had a Notorious reputation for prostitution around Noel Street (prostitution and drugs were rife).
I lived on birkin avenue and then with sister in the flats cambourne walk mum use to send me to jakie powdells not sure if that's the way its spelt but she would send me down with old rags to weigh in from the rag and bone man lol many good times!!!!!!
