The history of Valencia Club de Fútbol's Nou Mestalla could have been very different. Unfortunately, the timing, fate and circumstances mean that Los Ches do not play in a state-of-the-art stadium. Instead, what they have is a skeletal hulk of concrete.
The initiative of the former president of Valencia CF, Juan Soler, accumulates 175 million euros invested in the skeleton of what promised to be one of the most outstanding stadiums in Spain. However, the project plunged into a lethargy that has lasted for 16 years.
Despite the optimistic efforts and announcements, the lack of liquidity in the coffers of the Mestalla club has made it unfeasible to complete the construction works of the new stadium. Now, after more than a decade of paralysis, the Nou Mestalla aspires to become a footballing emblem ahead of the 2030 World Cup.
