I remember getting so cross with my body when I was so ill and I was eating nothing but my weight wasn't coming down anymore... I'm recovered now /in recovery and so grateful my body protected me so well and did its best to keep me alive. It's taken ages to rebuild muscle and strength and fat and hair and nails.... But wow I'm sooo careful now and literally treat it like the gift it is 🙏❤️ I'm left with osteoporosis and bad teeth plus other long term health issues but generally I'm functioning well thank god 🙏🙏🙏 Hard hitting but great video, thank you Tabitha ❤️

13:17 I think the rant about the body constantly and continuously trying to optimize in order to survive and how we with EDs abuse the survival mechanism of our body when it's only trying to save us is I think the most powerful rant in this channel

Hi Tabitha. I have been grateful for your channel every day since discovering it some months ago and this video is a standout. You should be prescribed to everybody struggling with restrictive eating - but I guess that might wipe out the diet industry ... Thank you so much for sharing your amazing wisdom. (Especially in current circumstances. My heart goes out to you.) The biological/genetic/neurological explanations help me so much. You are truly unique and I love all your videos. (Also love your take on “Vikings” and religion.)

I NEEDED THIS MESSAGE! I have kept this video on my lists as I think I need to listen to it EVERY SINGLE DAY...... I love your blunt, but oh so truthful, message Tabitha. Thank you for being REAL and just calling out our BULLSH!T. So many of us play this game for decades and feel and think and 'pretend' we are ok!

Thank you for this video. Got up this morning and didnt like how my clothes fit(tummy rolls due to 2 csections), but since gaining some weight and being puffy with edema I just feel disugusted. Was starting to get thoughts "Do I really need all of this food?" "Why do I enjoy eating all of this food now?" "Am I getting binge disorder now?" Sigh....but I clicked on this video and you put it back into prespective, that it is serious. At my lowest I was having tachycardia and issues with super low blood pressure. My body was shutting down. Its crazy how in just a few short months we forget how bad we really were. So thank you for the much needed reminder today. :)

That talk at the end was so what I needed to hear. Just the reality check/kick up the bum I needed today. I’m going to revisit this video a lot because that is the reality - my body is doing such a good job at keeping me alive but at what cost? And how long could it carry on like that for? It’s scary but it’s true and if that isn’t motivation to eat and recover I don’t know what is. I struggle to find motivation to get better or feel like I need to eat more because I haven’t been severely restricting (or I don’t think I have been anyway, my perception could be skewed) but any restriction at all over a long period of time is so damaging. I’m going to go and have some biscuits now because my body needs and deserves it just for still being alive and keeping me alive.

That's false about not regaining bone density after age 26. I'm 46 now and have had my dexa scans show that bone has regenerated close to normal levels.
@sarahbartlett9870
@sarahbartlett9870 3 года назад
That’s because peak bone mass is at 30-35 yrs. it’s only after that that bone loss starts to happen. Before 30-35 yrs , the body can still produce more bone which could compensate for previous bone loss

I was told you can build bone in the body until menopause but not in your mouth x
@sarahbartlett9870
@sarahbartlett9870 3 года назад
@@leannecraggs3165 once bone stops forming , you can’t build more bone, you can just prevent bone loss mainly from oestrogen and also supplements such as vit D and calcium

During childhood and adolescence, much more bone is deposited than withdrawn, so the skeleton grows in both size and density. Up to 90 percent of peak bone mass is acquired by age 18 in girls and by age 20 in boys, which makes youth the best time to “invest” in one’s bone health. The amount of bone tissue in the skeleton, known as bone mass, can keep growing until the late 20s. At that point, bones have reached their maximum strength and density, known as peak bone mass. Women tend to experience minimal change in total bone mass between age 30 and menopause. But in the first few years after menopause, most women go through rapid bone loss, a “withdrawal” from the bone bank account, which then slows but continues throughout the postmenopausal years. This loss of bone mass can lead to osteoporosis. Given the knowledge that high peak bone density reduces osteoporosis risk later in life, it makes sense to pay more attention to those factors that affect peak bone mass.

Like minimalism for example but I have to teach myself not to be a minimalist when it comes to food but get what I need to nourish myself,and also allow myself my fav stuff being minimalistic is about setting yourself free not being miserable,and not allowing yourself pleasure in life thats not it.....

Is it normal to still feel cold all the time even after restoring a lot of weight?
@meganann9625
@meganann9625 3 года назад
Yes. Your body may have not caught up with you yet if you’re still pursuing recovery. Also if you fall back into a restrictive pattern, then your metabolism and your heart rate slows down as well as internal temperature. Absolutely never restrict again after putting on weight. Your body will adjust metabolism to the amount your eating if you actively recover.

Hi Tabitha. I wondering what you think of mindfulness in relation to eating. Obviously I’m not suggesting to do this in early recovery or when some one has extreme hunger, but after weight restoration and return of normal appetite. Many coaches talk about the hunger/ fullness scale. To be mindful when eating, no distractions etc..., so that you don’t overeat or get too full. Basically to pay attention as you eat so you can notice when you start to get full. Do you do this when you yourself eat or teach your clients? Thankyou
@ZuzannaStella
@ZuzannaStella 3 года назад
She recommends ,,mindless eating" because people with ed already are hyper aware of food, fullness, calories etc

I used to hate you but now that I’m recovering from anorexia and can fully tell myself I have an eating disorder I would like to take my judgement back lol. What I was doing was killing me, i lost 40 pounds in like 3 months yet I couldn’t see it. A weed trip made me realize the stuff your saying is true. Now that I’ve just gave up gym for the last few weeks and just ate a breakfast lunch and dinner, idgaf about food at all, I kinda miss it tho, how I’d go on fast food websites and pick the order I was never gonna :(. But I’m way healthier and life is actually really cool, your perspective changes when a certain switch happens
