The best paragliding channel on YT. As a new pilot it would be great to see how you go about trimming a new glider and setting up a speedbar range.

trimming? no way. A new wing shouldn't need trimming. for speedbar range, best is to hang your harness up somewhere, and set the full bar to be at full leg extension.

Greg Hamerton Thanks for the info Greg, I had heard trimming being referenced on YT clips so I thought this was a procedure. love this channel

that's only necessary on super high performance competition wings with crazy thin lines and critical trimming. All production gliders in the lower classes should not require trimming, apart from an occasional wing service.

Thanks Greg, really enjoy these reviews. Great objective information mixed with beautiful video. We envy those grassy slopes. .. We are hoping you will review the Rush 5 when it comes out later this year. Cheers!

I was thinking about this for my first wing as I have an option to buy one used, for a good price. I was wondering if you could elaborate a little on why you wouldn't suggest this as a first wing. Thanks!

Think the speed riser has always been an option. Would really be interested to know if or (how many) have converted theirs as to order a new set of risers is around £200 compared to an additional 60 when purchasing a new wing.

Always enjoy your unbiased views about any wing you guys test fly. However, after having flown the M2, M3 and M5, I can't help but post that the M5, flown the M at 104 all up (90-110kg)is the most boring, docile, lame, low B glider I have ever flown. It misses feedback, lacks in agility, and even trying a wingover reminds me of trying it on my school wing Bolero 3, (an en-A) best you get out of it is gentle rolls. Screw performance and glide angles, there's more to a wing than just that. Nova has clearly lost it's direction without Hannesh.

LOL skippie, that's what I said! In a diplomatic way. Read the full written review...

I am thinking (??) Skippie, that you are not into Cross Country flying, in thermic conditions. For true XC flying, which is what the M5 is designed for, the Mentor 5 is fantastic!

Didn't you try the light version?

What size would you recommend for me? I weigh about 74kg and my equipment ist between 11 and 15kg so all in all it is around 85 to 89kg. The problem is that I will sometimes overload to 91 or 92kg. Would that be a problem for XS?
@greghamerton4422

HI Affenrotze, it doesn't stop flying when it's outside the certification range ;-) you probably won't notice the difference in handling at 92kg, it will just have a slightly higher sink rate. If this kind of thing bothers you, consider another brand that offers a 75-95kg wing.

Thanks for your help. I want to buy the Mentor 5. I tried several wings and I think the Mentor will be best for me. Now I just don't know wether to buy the S or XS. Would you rather buy the S or the XS then when I will overload only once or twice a year?
@greghamerton4422

XS, but check carefully on your full flying weight .. pilots often underestimate the real liftoff weight, with car keys, phone, that little extra bottle of coke etc. But flying the XS normally at 86/87 will be perfect.
