Brier Island is the farthest west you can go in Nova Scotia and has been on my list of 'furthest points' for quite a while. This video is a very brief summary of a most delightful trip exploring the shores of the Bay of Fundy and the western end of Nova Scotia. Nothing dramatic here. No stunt riding. No wheelies. Not even a single roadside breakdown. Just a gentle amble along quiet roads on a huge great bike.

I've found if I take enough pictures and footage, some tiny fragments are likely (if I'm lucky( to be useful. The time-absorber is finding the decent bits.

Great video of my home Province Nick ! I stayed in Digby many times ...camping with the family when I was a child and years later with my own family when the kids were the same age as I was when I camped there . A funny story I will never forget....we were camping when I was a child and we had a corn boil happening in a large pot over a fire . I thought of the cartoons I watched as a kid and there was always a witch that was cooking a witches brew in a big pot . The witch would always lift the lid and take a sniff of the brew she was making and at that corn boil I thought I would lift the lid and take a sniff . I inhaled through my nose strongly as I lifted the lid and the hot steam thoroughly burnt the inside and outside of my nose ...big-time ! Memories eh ?

There's nothing funny about hot steam. I hope it didn't take too long to recover.

Hi Nick I noticed that the quality of this video is exceptional. Great narration, beautiful associated pictures. I also enjoy the history behind the places you ride. It's makes a very enjoyable lesson for me as we ride along. There are plenty of different topics and subjects. I just finished reading your recent book Adventures On Borrowed Time and found it one of your best for similar reasons. Thanks Nick Cheers TT

You're very kind TT and super glad you enjoyed both. I always want more and better pics and video than I get but try to use the best. It helps that the subject matter is inherently photogenic. Stay well, and thanks for the encouraging comments.

Great to "ride along" with you through some beautiful landscapes. "Margeret's Justice" is an intriguing name for a ferry.

Noticed some autumn colors. Maples are past their prime on the North Shore o f Superior. Birches and Poplars are slowly moving to golden views.

Having grown up in the Annapolis Valley I love that someone from Ontario can say “The Valley” and everyone knows where you are talking about as if it’s the only valley that exists. Brier Island has always been one of my favourite spots to visit. The road on Long Island is a gem, even if it isn’t very long. Cheers!
@nick949eldo
@nick949eldo 9 месяцев назад
Haha. Yep. The Ottawa Valley does have that status (whether deserved or not). I didn't include much footage of your valley, but the mist hanging in those field and the fruit trees and vinyards were truly lovely.

You're very kind. My videos aren't as slick as many, but I enjoy the process as they help me prepare to write the trips up more fully. As for distances - I like being in the saddle, and it's a big country. Stay well. Ride safely.

Great stuff Nick, looks like a braw place to spend some days chilling on a bike, just back from a euro trip, traffic was terrible, stressful, not the real way to ride a bike.
@nick949eldo
@nick949eldo 9 месяцев назад
Avoiding traffic is one of my delights, but I know from riding in the UK that one can find quiet roads on that side of the Atlantic - avoid cities.

Nick great video. thank you. When crossing on a small ferry i put my bike on the side stand and sit on it to keep it from toppling over. This seems to be the least unnerving. Do you have any recommendations?
@nick949eldo
@nick949eldo 9 месяцев назад
I usually do the same Dave. Also, I leave it in first gear to limit any chance of it rolling forwards. If it's calm I'll get off and walk around, but it depends on conditions. On large ferries I strap the bike down as if it were on a trailer or flatbed so it can't move, no matter how rough.

@@nick949eldo Thanks Nick I was leaving in neutral so from now on Im placing my bike in gear. That will give me an extra level of confidence.
