I feel like matches like these show why Djokovic is truly great. Everyone sees him consistently beating top players in the semis/finals of slams, but I bet these matches are equally tough for him mentally sometimes. A lot of these guys come out playing like they have nothing to lose, and Novak is usually not in top form in the first week. The fact that he hasn’t lost before the quarters of a slam since 2018 is wild.
Hats off to the wonderful highlights, amazing. Secondly, Prizmic showed true heart and courage, what a great match! Djokovic didn’t play his best but he persisted through his struggles and a player that truly played a great match, respect.
That exchange at the net literally brought a little tear to my eye, this is why I love Novak and will unconditionally love this man for what he has brought to the sport of tennis and to humanity. Just an incredible human being in my opinion.
First rounds are difficult sometimes for top players because their opponents have played well through many qualifying rounds and are ready while top players can come in a little rusty. Many upsets happen in the first round. If Novak was a lesser player it may have happened here too.
If Novak was any lesser of a player it def would have happened. But your assesment is correct. We've seen it time and time again. Top players are more susceptible to lose in first rounds
@@jonfreeman9682 I would think it's freeing because no one expects you to win so you can hit freely and not stress about it. I remember when Nick Kyrigos played Rafa for the first time his team said just have fun because you're not going to win... so he went out there and beat Rafa.
Such a fantastic match! Will definitely be following this young player in the rest of his career. I wish him the best. So glad AO puts this footage out so fast!! Great social/content team!
This is a great first round match for Novak, it puts in him gear for the tournament early. First rounds can be tricky at times. Great job by Prizmic for showing up to play at a high level.
Djokovic knows how to treat kids properly! He did what he did to Ben Shelton in US Open because he deserved but as he is a humble kid Novak treated this guy very kindly
Apparently Novak is Dino's idol. Novak would have had his 2011 year when Dino was like 5 years old. This kid had a front row seat to the dominance of the GOAT, as many of us had. Novak wants to make sure these type of guys succeed and I imagine Dino will be getting Novak's number to ask for advice as he gets his career going. Dino certainly is on my radar now. I'm hoping for a great year for him.
@@dannyboy2851I'm an American and I don't think it's cool what Ben did to other Americans. I love his game but it was a bit much. And his comments were a little stale too. There's a reason you don't see him doing it much at all anymore 😬
I'm calling it and saying this Dino Prizmic guy will be big soon. His strokes seem very good, he is humble, and was able to get in some long rallies with Novak this match. Novak still pulled it off because he is the GOAT, but give Prizmic some time and he is going to be an amazing player.
Prizimic has high rally tolerance just like a young djokovic eho keeps on getting everything back Djokovic was making errors because he understood that this guy is not going to end the point and djokovic had to be aggressive to finish the point
His articulate intelligent speeches is the only thing that saves him and sportsmanship when he loses. But during a match when fans are cheering more for the underdog as in this match he is quite jealous and arrogant and is known for cheating / traits aussie sport fans have never forgave him for since his first match here at the Aussie open ..
That's how it goes. Sometimes a top player comes in fresh and ready to go, sometimes they look out of it in the early rounds. Kudos to his opponent bc it was not a easy match up
I love how so many self proclaimed tennis analysts have reservations about Prizmic, while it's clear that Djokovic was very impressed. I go with the GOAT's analysis. I mean, he played against the dude, he didn't just watch him on a screen from a distance.
I like some of the things from this new kid. There is some good flexibility that should help his athleticism. Hopefully, he takes care of that ability. Explosiveness is pretty good. He has some heart, which was on display. I would like to see him try to hit a few more two handers on defense. Otherwise, it was nice to see Djokovic tested and giving Prizmic what appears to be a cheer up and words of encouragement at the end.
4h match as a first round is far from ideal for Djokovic. His game felt rusty and mind wandered a lot, but I am sure he will try to win in straights sets until the quarters to reduce his court time. As for his opponent, fantastic match!
More than his game what was so revealing in this match was Novak's extraordinary sportsmanship. He showed the world yet again that he is an embodiment of human values.
Prizmic hit some big shots a la Djokovic there. Djokovic did the boring stuff well such as serving well and taking care of business - hitting put away backhands to the opponent backhand. That's what distinguishes a greatest of all time player from anyone and everyone. Like the Prizmic game a lot - a jazzed up version of Djokovic. Hope he stays with it.
Prizmic really gave Novak a run for his money here. Took the second set, was break point down to go down 5-0 in the 4th, triple break, saved it and got one break back, and then saved SIX match points before Novak finally converted the 7th. First man ever to take Novak past 4 hours in round 1 of a major. Heck of an effort. Gave the champ a great fight and well and truly went down fighting. I remember turning on my phone and expecting to see a 6-1 6-2 6-1 esque score, and when I checked it was 6-2 6-7 6-3 4-0 and I was shocked he dropped a set but the 4-0 made me think we were heading for a near carbon copy of the Couacaud match which Novak won 6-0 in the 4th after dropping set 2 in a tiebreak. But it turned out to be much closer. Well played Dino.
Just when Novak thought that he has to worry about Carlos and Jannik for the next couple of years, here comes Dino...i hope that this kid joins the other two to form the next "Big Three",but until then, they all have to worry about Novak because he's not willing to pack it in yet...Idemo Nole !!!
Great mach from our neighboring country representative. This kid can do a lot in future if everything goes well. To all of this people now in comments who said that Novak is not in shape or match was not good, you all know that Novak is just getting better and better after each round of tournament. Let’s see goat 🐐 doing his goat stuff once again and witness some more daily history ! Cheers everyone!
Djokovic got old you can see that by his movement. You can not beat nature. He is playing way worse then before but even with this play he is level above normal tennis players like Dino. Would be good that he wins his 25 here. If not everything Djoko achieved is amazing. GG.
Yes prizmic is good but reading from the comments it seemed to me he played amazingly well. Not even close. Novak was dominant all the way through.. and even the 7-6 set was won at 7-5 while Novak was being adventurous.
People are so anxious to see Novak fall, they are coping and will hype anyone. Yes Prižmić played good, and showed fighting spirit, but match has this flow only because Novak has a cold and wasn't in good form. Even Novak praised the kid more than is realistic, but I think it's more because Ivanišević knows Dino and his family because they come from the same town and he told Novak about him.
@@limanac111oh,you are here to...now i know u are a Serb who works for 200$ pro month....hahahahahah And makes long coments on you tube, man u serbs are next level...
He's definitely pushing the limit. What's incredible is the guy is hardly injured like Federer. I think Noles only needed surgery once to fix his wrist and Federer only needed it twice for his back. Nadal needed maybe 5 or 6 times. But Noles has a pretty physical game too so it's a testament to how well he manages injuries to extend his career. If he keeps up he could play to 50 and win 20 more Grand Slams. With Federer and Nadal gone no one can challenge him.
Great match for the youngster. Clearly the master moved the game as needed, not to take anything from the kid, what an exciting young man. I hope he rises to challenge the Spaniard in the future
Where are the dropshots, volleys, or other excellent plays at the net by Nole in this??? This "highlights" (alleged) make it look like Prizmic lost only due to his UEs... 🤣🥴
Yeah I hear such great things about this match from the comments and by djokovic's reaction, but the extended highlights were no better than the regular ones at showing me some great tennis. I saw wild hits and alot of basic rally balls back to the opponent.
When Novak sets into oblivion, bhe will be knowing who are all going to rule the tennis world in future, so many young budding stars he is playing. Prizmc is one among the lot.
There is no such player who you wake up in the middle of the night when he is sleeping and is immediately ready to beat anyone, even #1 in the world... unless your name is Dino Prizmic 😱
It has to be that way. The young tennis player has the biggest challenge. For Djokovic it is one more match perhaps where his mistakes will be noticed if he has a player like Prizmic who wants to go to the limit of his performance.
Prizmic could of had Novak? Had Prizmic took the 3rd set Novak might have lost the match? Novak was really close to doing the unthinkable: “losing in the first round”. But I think Novak’s pride and legendary resolve wasn’t gonna have that? Don’t let the 3 sets to one set fool you. Novak almost lost this like a tight 5 setter. You have to see it to know what I mean. Congrats to Novak. That kid Prizmic is definitely going to be a grand slam champion if he continues his path and isn’t diverted with a “less than 100 % supportive partner” and continues to work hard and stays disciplined.
@@jonfreeman9682 you’re right, Novak was battling a cold in the match. And the wasn’t the best Novak. But if you noticed on the last point, match point, Novak was a bit pissed and putting all his power in those shots, lol 😂. You can tell he didn’t want that kid to get that point, and perhaps set?
Such a great gesture by Serbian GOAT to encourage young Prizmic at the net. May these nations build peace in the years to come. Maybe Novak can lead Serbia when he retires from this game?
I see good ingredients and potential I his game. But I’m in the minority here because I wasn’t blow away as such. I’m not sure if there’s a shot / weapon that stands out as the X factor. That’s not a bad thing of cos because he seems to have a solid all-court game. But I saw a lot more in Alcaraz and even Sinner when they were 18.
