The level of performance they reached this day at the same time did not occur again. I have never seen both of them hiting the ball so hard on each shot honestly, and the famous breakpoint saved by Djokovic in the 3rd set at 3-4 30-40 is probably the best rally I have ever watched, no one else on the tour could have pushed each other so far in such a quality rally ).
Most underrated match in tennis history, both guys were playing at their peak, and hiting the ball ruthlessly. The score does not represent the intensity of this battle, I don't remember both of them playing so well at the same time ( AO 2012 very close to this, but they were playing even faster at USO 2011 imo ).
Yeah the time When Federer was about to retire and Rafa past his prime after 2014 due to injury....both three great rivals becoming aging veterans losing out of bad physical shape and near retirement and retiring...that's why I love Rafa the most ... when everybody was young.. Murray was having his best year in 2012 & 2013 , Federer was a beast . and Djokovic peaked in 2011 & 2012 and defeating the other bog three s a lot more than before and being consistent knockout performers.. Nadal becomes three times champion in 2008, 2010 and 2013.. Olympic champion in 2008, first man to win three grand slams in 3 different surfaces in tennis history in 2010 and Winning the summer slam ( Montreal + Cincinnati+ us open ) the only man in history to do so in 2013 .. whilst winning 10 Grand slams between 2008-2013 at an avg of 2 per year... and beating his rivals Djokovic and Federer in grand slams on grass an hard.. like for example tie ing 1-1 in Australian open and 2-1 in Is open against Djokovic I'm this time while defeating Federer in the historical 2008 final ending his Wimbledon reign.. Nadal always had the edge over Federer before 2008 and within this time..m while beating Djokovic always before 2011 while being dominated by Djokovic in 2011 and half of 12but getting back at him in other half of 12 & 2013.... When all of the big four peaked Nadal triumphed the most..m but then he got injured post 2013 and Djokovic performance against Nadal In 2011 became consistent against the battered agimg veteran from 2014 onwards .. and despite that ..still Nadal managed to hold suit on clay against Djokovic....
The celebration of Djokovic at the end by kneeling on the floors of Arthur Ashe Stadium tells us about the inner spirit, motivation and dedication of the man
@@syeedchowdhury2501Murray and Federer played one final at the USO and it was anything but a classic. It was a comfortable straight set win. I think you need to go and re-watch it.
All that effort Nadal put in to the 3rd set and first game of the 4th took it out of him. He was a zombie buy the end. This is when Djokovic had turned into a beast.
Ten AO , three Roland Garros , seven Wimbledon , seven final ATP of the year , 420. weeks as ATP no. 1 . Plus 12. Grand Slam finals and 12. semi finals . 40 ATP Masters 1000 .
Djokovic's returns in the third game of the second set are insane. Historic match. It was of the beginning of the fourth set and almost four hours. It seemed like it was going a long way but the last games were quick. Djokovic didn't give any chances.
another great upload, could you possibly do full hd highlights of djokovic vs nadal 2012 ao open? kind of a tall order i know so i get it if not, but the extended highlights that are up omit a lot of good points in the game
I should have that, I’m pretty busy these days but I’ll definitely keep that match in mind and hopefully make it whenever I have time. Thanks for the comment.
2011 was the year of Djokovic, perhaps the greatest in his career. I always thought he belonged in the same bracket as Federer and Nadal, but he had to prove it. There was no looking back after 2011. Djokovic has been far and away the most successful tennis player since this year with Nadal proving his biggest rival with his dominance on clay. Federer was a distant third, that semi final defeat proved to be the end of his dominance, despite still being a great player.
I always thought Roger had issues with grinders and counter punchers like Rafa and Murray more. He beat Tsonga, Roddick, Berdych, Raonic, Cilic etc easily and they are all bigger hitters.
This was Nadal in is prime. Djokovic hadn't reached his prime. On a hard court or grass Novak is supreme. Even on clay Novak has beaten him twice at Roland Garros. GOAT debate is now closed.
The thing i don't get with Djokovic is, why isn't he always that aggressive? He only seem to rise the intensity and quality of his shots when he is facing either Nadal, Federer and now Alcaraz. That is one of the reasons i find him extremely frustrating sometimes, why giving rhythm to opponents like Zverev or Medvedev when you can bully them with sheer tactical awareness and ball striking quality?
The US hardcourt suits Nadal well as it's the surface (with clay) that bites the most when it comes to heavy topspin shots. The bounce is also relatively high compared to most hardcourt. Generally, Djokovic has the avdnatge in Wimbledon/AustralianOpen, while Nadal has the advantage in RolandGarros/UsOpen.
The Physics of US Open matches from this period feel very off to me compared to most other Tennis matches. Every shot feels awkward whereas other matches feel so smooth. Most shots from Nadal and Djokovic in this match look to me like they are giving everything just to meet the ball and get it back over. Trying to outpower rather than outplace. Compared to most matches with these 2 which where it looks to me like they are dancing around the court in total control of every shot and painting the lines at will. Is it the camera, the bounce of the court, or just me?
Nonsense. Novak crushed Federer in the last 4 games, and Mr. "Lucky shot" had no choice but to feel sorry for himself. If he had qualified for the final, he would have lost to Nadal, as happened before at Roland Garros 2011 & as will happen next in the 2012 Australian Open semi-final
This medical timeout crap drives me bananas. Djokovic famously took "a break" during an early AO match v Monfils because he was "too hot". When Monfils pointed out that this was against the rules, he was ignored. Then the other final where he was losing, took a "bathroom break" then came back to win it out of nowhere. Don't believe the lie that Djokovic hasn't had help along the way.
ACEITA QUERIDO!!!
at the presser rafa said ''even though his back was hurt, I was very tired in the 4th set''. that third set took almost everything from nadal but djokovic's back was no longer that big of an issue after med timout I believe
Ah yes, running to the net after every single shot and getting passed 90% of the time would be much more entertaining. Why do they try to win?? They should just worry about entertaining the old heads who couldn't sprint for ten seconds without throwing up. Why do they try to win??
@@KunnuITF you are right about grass , but nadal since Novak became better on grass couldnt even reach him and challange him on that surface or i am sure it would be much in novaks favour, i mean expect 2018 where Novak is coming back from long injury , i mean injury is not an exuse, but that was only time he reached nole in last 10 years , plus NOVAK NADAL on wimbledno is 2-1 in favour of Novak
I mean of course Novak has clearly surpassed Rafa on grass now but their rivalry as it has played out is close on that surface. They likely won’t ever play again so we’ll have only those 4 matches to judge.

If the federer man no mental did his 40/15 Djokodope do not exist..So lucky this guy with his boring tennis..federer had no mental..How much he Lost stupidly against del potro, safin, Wimbledon 2019, and us open 2010 2011..with two match Points..He could be at 24/25 easy
Djoker with a stiff back is hitting faster second serves than Nadal's second serves. Maybe rafa himself was dealing with some issue. It's like his worst serving performance. Probably because he played his 4th round, quarters and semis on three consecutive days had a role to play. This was Nadal's 4th match in 5 days
He wasn't injured. He was continously tinkering with his serve mechanics at the time. The year before he was maxing out at 135 mph or 217 kph. I have no idea why he decided to change. Nadal didn't really fix his weak second serves until about 7 or 8 months after this match.
