Fed was nowhere near even 50% of his best performances , he was so predictable coming to the net and Novak has a very good anticipation of play, Fed made many wrong decisions in this match Novak was just better, 2016 overall wasn't a good for Fed he suffered from injuries
After set 3, I was anticipating a colossal comeback from Rog. He has orchestrated 2 sets to love down comebacks before and we know he's a master performer in 5 set matches. Unfortunately, it didn't happen but the next year he was magnificent against Nadal after playing a brutal match against Wawrinka before the final!
@@Magicpot567 Are you blind? Fed just got roasted infront of yr eyes. There is no such thing as prime federer. The truth is he has always consistently beaten everyone on tour (irrespective of the period in time, from 18 to 38yo) except Nadal and Djokovic. He failed to dominate these two. Without them he would have ended with 60+ G.slams. 3rd and 4th set Fed was pushing too hard on himself, but couldnt hold that for longer. He logically lost
@@Magicpot567nole better and accept it Federer was outplayed by Rafa on clay every time while djokovic was able to beat him and h2h Roger and djoko 23:27 so nole goat 😘
Another super upload! Thank you! Roger's aggresive tactics backfired on him in this match. He missed many shots and Djokovic had an answer for this game that day. He was unplayable in the first 2 aeta and Roger changed tactics a little too late in the game.
Fed was striking the ball well, but tactically he was playing really stupid tennis imo. You can't keep rushing the net on a slow hardcourt like this, especially against Nole. You have to rally from the baseline even if you don't want to, because otherwise you just lose.
Never understood why Roger always tried to blast Novak off the court. Djoko is the best counterpuncher ever. Wawrinka was the only person who could do that.
A surprising statistic ; will take your word for it - and here's another ; in their only two grand slam final meetings , Wavrinka was 100% successful winning both meetings in 4 sets comfortably
Federer played well - beautifully at times - but Djokovic was invincible. Those 1st 2 sets were precise and brutal. He reminds me of the strongest chess computer that defeats even the very greatest human players. It would be fair to say that not only is Djokovic the GOAT, but his prime exceeds anyone's else's, at least on hard courts.
A great level from both ; difference btw Stan playing Djokovic & Fed - Stan very consistently kept the ball deep ( not allowing djokovic to step in & hit easy winners ) & , Stan hit flatter and more often more penetrating ground strokes on both sides than did Fed. Although not quite the variety of shot, Stan matched up against Djokovic s relentless back court style quite a lot better
@@theaviator1152 What's the common thing in all the matches you mentioned? They are not in Grand Slams. I do however believe that aggressive tennis is the way for Federer to play agaisnt anyone, especially Nadal.
yes i also feel now in hindsight, whether Fed could have tried a different strategy from the back..mixed it up more maybe like he did in Wimbledon 2019 and had the match won almost
It was so unfortunate Novak had the wrist and elbow issues this year.. He not only destroyed Fed here but also prompted Rafa to say after the Doha finals that “Novak played at a level that he has not seen anyone play ever.It was perfect tennis with all aspects perfect in it”.He blew Rafa off the court that day. After his injury he got back to his groove without much ado.. Back to being the champion player he always was... But his forehand was never the same.. His forehand was really something in 2016 before the elbow and wrist issue started creating major issues in his dominance.. Perhaps immaculate 2015 season had a say in it.
Even though Federer won a set, here Novak's level was God level, the set that Roger won does not make up for what was a crushing victory for Novak, this was one of his best primes
Lmao best joke ever!!!😂😂😂😂 Federer made djokovic look like a ball kid from the 3rd set until the end: it could have easily gone to 5 sets Even in the first two sets Federer played better but djokovic was great in the crucial points
Boring thing about Novak is he doesn’t look to kill. He just counter you and grind the point as long as possible. And Fed is killing it, keep the point short with variety of play. He tried to not make people pull out a pillow and go to sleep watching Djokovic.
So, are we sure we watched the same game? What's the reason behind your statement? I mean, if there was anyone who couldn't keep up with their opponent's pace, it was Federer. And yeah, you definitely don't achieve that without 'looking to kill' during the points.
Djoko était imbattable mais federer a fais trop d’erreur en se lançant au filet trop de fois Djoko était en forme olympique il aurait dû privilégier les échanges
I think a generation gap between Federer and Djokovic. When Fed was up and coming , there were hardly few good baseliners, but with time as game changed, there were many. Djokovic is a better baseliner especially considering his backhand. I think prime Djokovic beats prime Federer in a hard court grand slam. Djokovic doesn't get his due from fans which is sad.
You have correct racket knowledge my friend. Prime Federer didn't have strong competition other than Nadal. Also I would even argue that 2017 Federer would beat his 2006 version. He was more complete and better than him
Horrible match from Federer, his worst AO match against Novak. 58% first serves, 35% unreturned serves vs Novak who still wasnt the server he has become with Ivanisevic, aproaching the net so many times in Roddick fashion(mid court slices ) against the best passer on hard, missing crucial forehands on tight points etc .
He was playing well. Tactically he just made the wrong call. He decided he couldn't hang with Novak from the baseline so he started rushing the net like a headless chicken, but there's no way that works. Especially on a slow hardcourt like this. Even if you're outmatched from the baseline. You have to do it. He would have played better if he just decided to take on Nole from the baseline instead of giving up on that before the match started. You can't avoid the baseline rally in modern tennis.
That's why the year after he won 2 gs and also the year after another 2 when he was 37, and that's also why novak is 37 and still winning GS's and dominating the tour and number 1 forever lool indeed buddy 😂😂😂
Would anyone mention the age difference between Sinner or Alvaraz when they play with Djokovic? Who are at their peak fitness and about 15 years younger than Djpkovic? Or is the age difference excuse reserved for only for Federer vs Djokovic? Quite convenient. 28 vs 34 compared to 22 vs 36/37.
@@agranshanand well its about experience. Djo beats them like how Fed had a winning record over Djo in the first 28 ish times they met. Youth vs experience my guy. Fed played for so long so djo and nadal got more chances at him
