Mate this is actually the best comment i have seen really. So these sounds are really only Novation engine and nothing else (no external effects). Unfortunatelly i have sold MiniNova five months ago - i do miss it slightly but i have bought a synth modal electronics cobalt8 x which has more stero (wide sound and capable of ambient sounds) which i missed in MiniNova. I don't have any soundbanks anymore - those are mostly available in those digital stores. I might buy one back in near future... Since Cobalt is totally different beast as i stated more for analog, ambient cinematic sounds (which i like)

I been lookin at several synths, mainly the MiniBrute2s and the new KorgModwave, but price kept me going back to the Novation and Im used to working with synths with multitimbral or seperate independant parts, so this was the next best thing as i'll be routing the mininova into the Ultranova when it arrives... Id kill for a Modwave though as the Gaia is bitterly dissapointing (although it DOES sound nice, its no JP8000 replacement, which Im still mourning.. lol) however i was lucky to find it dirt cheap when i was lookin for a tweakable controller KB for my VSTis ..I might get rid of it but it has good studio and stage prescence I found that the mini has afew quirks when editing on the unit directly, but the SW makes up for it!! How are u finding Cobalt8? I'll see how i go with the ultranova and if it makes the gaia redundant on my desk when it comes to controling VSTis, then i'll probably get rid of the Gaia and the mininova and dig into something a lil more versatile. These are nuanced machines but i found that the mininova was possibly the best VA available going back a decade now (except for its garbage toy KB, but apprently the Ultranova uses full sized keys with aftertouch) Save for the more intense and very expensive units like Iridium and Andromeda, i think this unit and surprisingly, the mc101/707/Phantom Zencore engines are possibly the best things to be released in the last 15years... We could be here all day talkin toys.. im going to shut up now and get some work done!! Well done on the programming mate and hope the Cobalt does everything you need it to do!!

@@PedroAnastazi Well if you were looking for great sounding Synthesizer which can also controll vst's really well i can assure Cobalt8X and Argon8X are just that since they also have fattar keys and they are smooth like a cake i can assure you that. Haven't tryed Argon8 and it is my wish but currently i can't afford any synth. That's why i also sold MiniNova to begin with to have slightly bigger and better machine (but i couldn't have both). Cobalt is slightly different to program than your usual synth but it is rather easy (let's say more in your face... but you need to figure it out) LOL. It is all in Cobalt's algorithms. Yeah tell me about MiniNova KB - they broke of easilly so i had to replace them (since i am cheap mofo i have replaced them all by myself) heheh Let's put it like this there is no such thing as an perfect hardware synth (having everything and capable of whole bunch of things like vst) to be honest - but it is a real deal real knobs that's why i love it (of course if you can afford it). Never had a chance to try out JP 8000 and prety much any synth besides MiniNova, Cobalt and Waldorf Blofeld (desktop - broke down years ago). I had a chance to try Access Virus Ti Desktop a tiny lil bit - i was unimpressed but that was like 10 years ago when i really didn't have any clue that i will be into sound design (i was releasing tracks but in these days and age you actually use just vst's and banks which you buy). I am four years into designing on and off - you wouldn't believe i needed 2,5 years to finish this MiniNova bank :D But it is another story with Cobalt i've done it like in two months (but still slow in some ways) - i have a daytime job in meat factory (i live in country Slovenia)... so go figure

Yeah it is indeed a great little synth i have it more like an desktop version since i kinda don't see those mini keys as usable. They are kind of fragile so you do need to be gentle with it. Unfortunately i have never had luck to get my hands on JP8000 and Virus C or any kind of Virus in that matter. Hi thanks mate i appreciate it. It is all about filter envelope which corresponds with filter. It is mostly how i imagined particular sound while designing it. Sometimes the sound would not be the same if i've done it other way arround. Also most of the plucks are supposed to act like that - opening the filter and i kind of always have live play in mind (different scenarios). It was my first soundbank though but i still do the same strategy 😁 Thank you so much for liking it

@@dmallegro613 just practice. This is how it came to be with my self. I coudln't afford Roland JP 8000, Novation Supernova series let alone Access Virus. But i always wished to have hardware synth so i gambled and bought Mininova and let me tell you closest hardware synth for trance sounds like those i mentioned above (and cheap little monster). It took me a while before i knew how to design sound but eventually i got there

Thanks dude! The most helpful thing in mininova is you can do it through intergrated software. I forgot how does it call (vst librarian thing). If you do it directly on synth it can be a little time consuming and tricky to program

@@cnovasalmanhussain751 Am it is an Subtractive synthesizer like Access Virus, Roland JP 8000/8080, Clavia Nordlead, Novation Supernova etc... What is a sample based synth (you mean stuff like Akai and those sort of synths)? And yes they are the same and have similar engine to Nova and Supernova. A lot of people have one of these synths Giuseppe Ottaviani has Novatio Supernova, sean Tyas has Novation Peak, Stoneface and Terminal own MiniNova etc...

@@julko28 I mean it looks simplistic upfront..., Then I come across some vids with some mind blowing sounds being made from it... By sample based I mean a synth with synth samples that can be tweaked on board... Or does this ultranova and mininova have their own sound engine if I were to create sound from scratch...

Yeah mate this is only mininova no external effects were used. Unfortunately it doesn't have sequencer. Just arpeggiator

if u listen closely, you can actually hear the Novation nuances, but this patch collection blew me away as theyre very "roland" flavoured in their smoothness and thick freq filling refined use of effects, which is why I was stunned when I heard this patch collection. The MiniNova is phenomenal, so if youre thinking of buying, dont hesitate. Theyre goin up in price too. Once you get used to it, you can recognise the nuances and the chaining algorythm (i use that term "algorythm" as the filter and fx block is configurable much like an FM synth, not in sound heirarchys, but in the sense of stacking and treeing and chaining hierarchies) of the effects engine which can also have a line in routed through it, so you save on audio channels on your mixer, and use the MiniNova as an effect box. Dario did some phenomenal work here, and thats comin from a someone who's a sound dsigner and works as a surround sound mastering engineer for 25yrs now... and I NEVER compliment ANYONE lollll

@@gtLeppard prety much every ultranova ultranova soundset works on mininova since i have them. So it should be vice versa. They share the same synth engine. Only that ultranova has aftertouch keybed and mininiva doesnt. Lets say mininova is an desktop version of ultranova

I also sold MiniNova. I bought Modal Electronics Cobalt 8X and i don't regret it even slightly. Although it is more synthwave/80's/analog/cinematic oriented or centric which suits my love for cinematic music. I might buy second hand Ultranova next year just for sake of insane supersaw oscilator.
