The first time they walk into view of the raptors? Cuz there's so many parts labeled "Control" in the novel its hard to tell which one by just the name
21:38 Oh I remember that part of the book! Yeah, it was a very cool section -- them realizing that, because they'd been concerned with dinosaurs escaping, they'd made their monitoring system focus on whether any dinosaurs had gone missing, rather than actually tracking the total number of dinosaurs on the island. I don't remember the details but I really did like that scene, once they adjust the settings and realize they had a lot more dinosaurs on the island than they thought....and no idea how many might've escaped. Anyway. This mod is insane. So, so many color variations. And having the juveniles is fun, too. Clearly a lot of work went into this.
Who wants the novel Dilophosaurus and few other novel dinosaur cosmetics (as well as new species mentioned or from the novel, including Procompsognathus, as well as that Deinonychus cosmetic shown in this video) to be officially added to the game (either free update or paid content), with all the known bugs fixed? I know I want them added. :)
Ah the full reason why the novel dilo didnt release the first time is either 2 things. The first one is you almost got on point with it, there is actually 2 dilophosaurus variations being V1 and V2. V1 is the one on Nexus as its own page, V2 is the one with the Expansion Download page. V2 depends upon the custom stats which V1 grants, they are sort of treated as mini new species. Similar to dominion dreadnoughtus, so like the stats that V2 was completley missing since V1 didnt exist which grants all those stats. The other could be that you hatched more then 4 novel dilos which cannot be possible since its on Cryo rig which goes up to a max of 4 cryos in its animation so it messes up the animations there. Hope that clears things up! Also I did include Camouflage in the Carnotaurus! Works just like Indom and is the first mod to include camouflage! Also for the reason of 2 Rexes: Its mostly just for a neat choice. The V2 model was made based off of Lewis' design on a doc he made based off the Novel. Same reason for Dilo. More choice in how you want the design to look like.
Love the book skins. The whole " the dino can't be getting out because the computer counted them" was brilliant in the book. Those carno's for the second book ....wild 😮
IIRC I think Coelurus also pops up on a page in The Lost World as one of the species they had been working on, but hadn't hatched yet. 31:44, by technicality, it does feature in the novel. The species in the book was "Velociraptor antirrhopus", which is a name that comes from a very brief attempt by Greg Paul to reclassify Deinonychus. Crichton may have still been writing the books at the time, and may have made the switch wanting his work to be as realisitic and up to date as possible.
deinonychus does make an appearance in the novel though, specifically deinonychus antirrhopus which was lumped into velociraptor at the time by exactly one author known as gregory S paul.
He didn’t pick the name velociraptor because it sounded better. He picked it because his main reference book “predatory dinosaurs of the world” hypothesized that Deinonychus was synonymous with Velociraptor and were two species of the same genus.
Actually the reason for deinonychus being called velociraptor in the book was because Crichton consulted Gregory Paul’s 1988 book “predatory dinosaurs of the world”, in which Paul re-classified deinonychus as a species of velociraptor (v. antirrhopus). This has view has since been proven false, but at the time of the novel’s creation it was a valid taxon. I believe it was Spielberg who then decided it should still be called velociraptor in the films and books both to avoid audience confusion and because it sounded cool.
I always love your JP franchise inside that I never would've been aware of otherwise! They're the gems in mod spotlight videos that I rarely watch for the mods :D
The novel rex actually That's what it supposedly looks like Which then was made into a toy back in 1993 for kenner Which later was brought back by mattel. The skin is by no means supposed to be based of mattel.
I used to have that toy Dilophosaurus as well and yes it was Kenner. It also came with a info card and the picture of the Dilophosaur while not the novel size was bigger than the movie version. I think the toy would squirt water. Deinonychus did appear in TLW game but that's the only time I remember seeing it in any part of the franchise. The Velociraptor skins seem to be referencing Trespasser and toys. The one you sat on while you talked about it I had that one as a toy years ago and it was Kenner again.
the funny thing about the compys? as I remembered from watching the movie in the italian translation they actually got the species right, Burke calls it procompsognatus triassicus
Its based off Fred's Rendition. (didnt get to do the long neck cause rig editing was a bit more of a pain in the butt before we got new tools to help out with that. The Model Draco made did have the long neck but had to crunch it down.)
Tbh seeing the juveniles makes me wish frontier would add a nesting/breeding mechanic. Even if they don't grow up, just to have full family herds running around
I'm shuddering at how much time and work this mod must have taken. This is one of the most insane and mind blowing ones I've ever seen for this game. All the references in the skins were delightful and they all look amazing. Kudos to everyone involved with this mind shattering mod.
14:23 Crichton didn't choose Velociraptor because it "had a cooler name", he chose that name because, at the time, there was a theory that Deinonychus was a different species under Velociraptor, V. antirrhopus. This theory was mostly refuted at the time, and similar to how nowadays there's only so many people who honestly think Nanotyrannus is a thing, the theory had very few supporters. One of these supporters though was Crichton, who used the Deinonychus info gotten from Ostrom, the man who actually described Deinon, and put the name Velociraptor over it to fit with his taxonomic opinion.
After the Mongolia digs of the AMNH teams came back with the truckloads of material though, the theory fizzled out fast as everyone who ever supported it took one look at the nearly if not complete skeletons of Velo and realized that it was very much a different genus entirely.
Them not running out is just cause the normal batch size for Dilo is larger then the release animations is supported for the bigger dilo. Bigger dilo is using a rig from another dinosaur and that dinosaur doesn't have release animations for the super large batch of dilo.
He actually calls it Procompsognathus Triassicus, rewatched it recently w subs and it does say that. But we know that is compsognathus not procompsognathus because burke is a dummy which caused him to get killed
If there isn't a T Rex recolour that makes them into Beast Wars Megatron then they're missing a trick. Barney is similar to Megs but a darker purple with a green underbelly. Megs is a light purple with green spine stripe and tan belly.
Are a few of these skins based on skins from Primal Carnage Extinction? I haven't played that in a while but some of the skins in this video look really similar to some skins in that game.
God I love ur videos bestinslot, like I was rly rly baked last night (legally) n doing some very very deep thinking and the amount everything and oml ur series of park building w a story behind it and idk I js rly would love a jwe2 version of the cryptid park and even planet zoo builds, I love it all.
Why have no modders recreated the Ornithocirus from WWD? Or any of the dinosaurs from WWD? Also while I don’t like the look of those Carnotaurus, they would look better if they looked more like the Carno’s from Disney’s Dinosaur. They got the size down so far.
One of these days I'm hoping for a more snake-like neck Dilophosaurus and not just a mod that's over the Metriacanthosaurus or whatever dinosaur they modded over.
