Wa alaikum al salam. I've honestly heard so much about Paradise, and it was actually the first Gurnah book I was recommended to read. I bought a copy and lost it, so I ended up reading Gravel Hearts first and fell in love with it. Paradise seems to be a good place to start. If you read it, do let me know what you think.
