Hopefully I can clear up a few things... 1. I write the lyrics, I am not religious. Each members individual belief is their own personal business, but as a band, we are not a Christian band. We don't preach religion, we promote individual thought. 2. This song is about my daughter. 3. "Heavens" is a commonly used term in astrology to describe the Infiniti of space. Not everything written is as it seems. Search the deeper meaning in the words & they may have an entirely new meaning to you.
I’ve wondered number 3 myself, but thank you for finally explaining. It’s a shame artists can’t share their reasons behind their creations that are so amazing.
How could they think November doom was Christian band but it’s not has bad as the Google search “ is god smack a Christian band lol” Your music is great btw
Very simply put....this song was written for our daughter Rhiannon Autumn Kuhr, her middle name is Autumn= (Autumn Reflection) she was the strength Paul needed to deal with his multiple spinal diseases. She was too young at the time to be in the video, she was only 3 but @ 2:09 there is a picture of Rhi & Paul hanging on the wall. (That was the director Tony's lovely idea) So yes technically she's in the video. Twilight Innocence & Swallowed By The Moon are also written for Rhiannon.
+Arline Kuhr I'm seriously way sorry to hear this. Hope both of you would recover from this...Paul is so handicapped with his diseases...but still doing way good vocals. I do have a foster child which i raised 5 1/2y with my ex (girlfriend back then) and can't see her for real because of her real father...that's a lot of pain...to live with... :-/
Thank you. I always felt when writing lyrics for this band, the lyrics should hold meaning to me. She inspires me, so there's a few out there with her in mind.
Can't believe it's been 13 years since this upload. I was in high school when listening to it. Now I have a daughter myself and the lyrics make more sense to me than ever. Life is hard sometimes. But looking at her peaceful face while sleeping, just like in the video, makes me want to face whatever life throws at me. Truly a relatable song that I will listen for all of my life. Thank you very much.
I remember yesterday The rain fell to the earth For I dream of your arrival And color my dark world with faith Knowing you would be the strong one To keep my focus in close view I thank the heavens above For the angel beside me today The guardian of my sanity The one who will save my soul If I ever doubt the faith I hold I only need one smile from you And an autumn reflection will deliver me to your arms Someday you will understand How much you mean to me for every day that passes me by I long for the person you will become I thank the heavens above For the angel beside me today The guardian of my sanity The one who will save my soul If I ever doubt the faith I hold I only need one smile from you And an autumn reflection will deliver me to your arms I am stronger now Since you came into my life With a thought of your smile I remember yesterday
My daughter just moved away with her mother.. and it hasn't been easy. I think about her every moment of every day. I just want to say, This song has helped me get through this hard time. Thank you Novembers Doom for your music. It really helps....
Always liked this song, but never realized before seeing the video that it's from the perspective of a father toward his daughter. The melancholy tune belies its sweet nature.
It sounds like conditioning. It's just something you build up a resistance to over time. Also, make sure you push with your diaphragm and not your throat. If you're serious about singing metal and protecting your voice, check out the DVDs by Melissa Cross. She's helped many vocalists in the metal scene.
My daughters are 4 and 1.5 years old. Sometimes my love for and responsibilities to them are the only things that keep me afloat. I'm not crying, you're crying.
Honestly i understsnd if it was not for my daughter i would be long gone. Every day i think about ending it but then i imagine her crying and mourning it makes me sad. I dont want to put her through pain no matter how much iam in everyday.
@@ryancarthen2198 Stay strong. I'm not a father but I'm a daughter and if my father was gone I would be half dead. Keep staying alive for her. You can do it. I don't know who you are but I believe in you.
I wanted my little girl so bad... I was so excited to protect and guide her. This song really puts me back in that headspace of how important she was to me. It's kinda bittersweet. I hope you're alright wherever you are, V.
This is one of those rare videos where the 240p quality really works. I’m not sure high def could improve anything about this. Whoever made this video, their work with the color, slow-mo, and sky effects was absolutely perfect.
Ive been battling with crippling addiction for 12 years. I just lost everything and had to leave with just 3 trash bags and move in with my only sober family. Theres 8 people in this house now, but im thankful for everything. Novembers Doom has been with me always..Thank you so much..
You can beat it!! I used to listen to this while I was addicted as well!! Now I listen to this with an amazing family and job...You are not ALONE!!!!!!
Keep in mind the lyric used. "Heavens" is a commonly used term in astrology to describe the Infiniti of space. Not everything written is as it seems. Look for the deeper meaning in the words and the songs may have an entirely new meaning for you.
Sometimes it makes me smile, sometimes it makes me cry, sometimes both at the same time. Means: I adore it with all of my heart... Thanks for this song guys.
Just heard the new My Dying Bride track "Your Broken Shore" which made me go back and check out the Paradise Lost track "Beneath Broken Earth" which then made me revisit this killer song. Beautiful Sadness,
You know what i like most bout this song, Novembers Doom is Doom Metal, Doom Metal is a genre based on death and well, doom. These guys make a song, yet another doom track, and it goes about birth and finding new life, quite te oposite and it friggin works perfectly. Simply genius, one of the best there is out there.
@NovembersDoom1989 This song helped me decide my daughters name. I found the lyrics fitting to our life. She, my daughter (AUTUMN) means the world to me. NovembersDoom helped me decide, along with the season!!!!!!! The lyrics are perfect and open enough for people to make their own decisions of belief............ Deeper meaning? You have no idea! Keep up the awesome work.
I'm making it a tradition to listen to this song every November 1st. It's usually one of the first, coldest, most autumnal days of the year here and it always gets me back to my beloved Metal roots. The lyrics feel so much more important too.
Novembers Doom gives a Gothic spin on Death Doom Metal -- Paul can sing both Gothic Metal and Death Doom Metal. He's good at the clean vocals. I came to know Paul over the years as he played with my my book cover designer. Novembers Doom hints to God in their lyrics but don't mention it.
Has it ever happened to you that you search for music, quite at random, to find something that reflects what you feel inside. Hours after hours, bands after bands you keep trying and yet you don't find that music that envelopes you and suddenly you click something which makes you feel you're like engulfed, you're enchanted, you're possessed by the sound. This is what i'm feeling now having found Novembers Doom. My only regret is why I found them so late.
You guys are unreal. I've been into metal since I was 3 (in 1990) and I have to say that you guys just blow me away. My cousin and I have followed your stuff since Welcome to the Fade and haven't heard a bad song yet. If you guys are ever in Texas you've got some die-hard fans down here! Thanks for the great tunes!
Recently i have listened to oneof the songs of November's Doom and Really now all Day im listening to their songs they are so good band and i think they will hav a very famous reputation so near.
Paul wrote this for our daughter Rhiannon Autumn, she turned 9 today, Happy Birthday baby!!!!!!!!!! And the song that started it all Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This video is absolutely remarkable. I can't believe I hadn't seen it 'till now. It fits the song so hauntingly! Favorited. Novembers Doom are amazing.
I Love this song. The Video helped me like this song I'm sure.Cool Video. The End Records have some Great bands in their Line up.I hope to see them Live someday.
I'm impressed with the personal responses given back from the band members. I agree that many people make too much of a deal out of the genre of the music they are listening to. It amounts to half the arguements on youtube music videos. I'd just like to say to Paul that I love how you write songs about your daughter. It is very beautiful.
I've listened this song from hours now and it just keeps getting better. The point of all this is really great. There used to be 300,000 views, now there's almost 325,000.
Funny how this whole identity thing has become such an issue. Oh well, hopefully Paul cleared this up once and for all for everyone. I'm Larry, the guitarist (the blonde at the beginning of the video here). We like being able to communicate with you guys and answer questions, etc., we're just regular people y'know? We're grateful that you guys support us and watch the videos and comment on it. Keep it up!
Hey i just found this song a few days ago and i gota say wow, ima juggalo by nature, but i can really relate to this, man ur daughter is lucky to have u as a dad, writing songs about her and for her, thts just wicked, mad props to u, i dedicated this song to my daughter cuz if it wasnt for her i wouldnt be around, i can tell from this song ur daughter means the world to you, keep up the wicked lyrics and songs man great music, great band plain and simple
Swallowed by the moon and An autumn reflection makes me remember of my two children that I will never know... Fighting depression for three years now and remembering those innocents children eyes
I love the slow, melodic vocals. The sounds from the vocals alone seem to produce a feeling of despair and despondence independent of the lyrics. Knowing the lyrics only adds to the feeling of immensely pleasurable desolation.
My Lifetime no:1 band is Novembers Doom .. And definetly masterpiece song " Autumn Reflection " .. now Pale haunted album cover completely understanding by all .. Uber perfect clip
Greetings from the Middle East! I'm in Boston right now, and would love to see you guys play there! Keep up the fantastic work! As a guitarist, I'm such a huge fan of the music, and the lyrics are incredibly deep, and it's good to know that the video has so much artistic value in it! FANTASTIC!!!!
