Formada em 2023 esta banda -oriunda do Porto - deu à palavra “romântico” um novo significado. As letras doces sinónimo de exaltada paixão e amor ardente são substituídas por palavras duras que retratam os problemas sociais e profissionais da (atual) sociedade portuguesa.
Letras que chamam à atenção para carências ao nível da habitação, do emprego, da educação, e de outros valores (ideais) que o 25 de Abril de 1974 prometeu e ainda não cumpriu.
Nesse sentido a designação de Novos Românticos, nome de batismo de uma banda composta pelo criativo trio David Félix, Marcos Cândido e Emanuel Ribeiro, nada tem a ver com odes ao amor, mas sim no que já atrás dissemos aliado a um estilo musical que surgiu em Inglaterra nos finais dos anos 70 e que perdurou por toda a década seguinte: o New Romantic.
Com esta sua visão crítica e mordaz da sociedade os Novos Românticos resgatam para o novo milénio o som que virou moda nos clubes de Londres ou Birmingham no século passado, mas com um sotaque e uma alma bem lusitano(a).
Formed in 2023, this band - originally from Porto - gave the word “romantic” a whole new meaning. Sweet lyrics synonymous of exalted passion and ardent love are replaced by hard words that portray the social and professional problems of (current) portuguese society.
Lyrics that draw attention to deficiencies in terms of housing, employment, education, and other (ideal) values that the “25 de Abril de 1974” promised and have not yet fulfilled. In this sense, the designation of Novos Românticos, the baptismal name of a band composed by the creative trio David Félix, Marcos Cândido and Emanuel Ribeiro, has nothing to do with odes to love, but rather with what we said before, combined with a musical style that emerged in England at the end of the 70s and which lasted throughout the following decade: the New Romantic.
With this critical and scathing view of society, os Novos Românticos rescue for the new millennium the sound that became fashionable in clubs in London or Birmingham in the last century, but with a very lusitanian accent and soul.
