I’ll do a better job of really trying to pay attention to intricacies in the plot of future movies. However, I won’t stop saying outlandish shit because I literally say whatever happens to pop up in my head as I’m watching 😂😂 Love you guys a lot! Peace and love, everyone!

I think the reason we don't see what happens once Truman escapes is because there aren't anymore cameras on him. He's escaped his film world, so we don't get to see what happens on film.

This comment section is basically a group of friends showing that one friend a classic movie and sighing with barely restrained frustration when they point out everything BUT the plot

My man is the only guy that can watch a film and not get the plot or idea that EVERYONE apart from Truman is in on it, that EVERYTHING is designed to keep him in one place.

In the cut content, they hint that Marlon fell into drug addiction because he feels guilty lying to Truman for so long. And he's the guy who has to endorse beer on the show, specifically by drinking it. Could you imagine what kind of hell that would be?

Editor's notes were SO ON-POINT with this one, especially the talking too much part lol (Alex always seems to ramble on the longest when he's trying to figure stuff out, and it's always RIGHT BEFORE he's going to be told what's going on lol)

This was made before the internet was everywhere. Before cameras were on our phones. It was way ahead of its time

lol my guy did NOT understand the movie at all. he gets on the bus, the girl recognizes him and alex goes "wait, they ALL KNOW?" lololol

I love the editor notes expressing exactly how we feel. How did he not see the pull back of the giant dome, or the fact that the moon was a command center?

19:00 cars with missing headrests is a very common thing in movies and TV. They remove them so that, if you have to have a camera in the backseat, the headrests aren't in the way of the actors faces.

Please watch this movie again on your own and pay more attention lol. You think it’s good now, with all the stuff you missed you’ll appreciate it even more. They literally showed/explained the massive studio they built for him, and there’s so much background stuff like the neighbor’s trash can had a big ass camera lens poking through the front. Marlon took the candy bars out and put them back in which is why he was taking so long, he was filling time while Truman talked. The new co-worker was replacing Meryl as a love interest (the director said so), and she was a blonde in a red sweater like Sylvia because they were trying to subconsciously influence him to like her. The twins push him up to frame the advertisements on the right. In the photo album Meryl’s fingers were crossed. So many details, and layers.

Good lord. This was like watching Forrest Gump do a sudoku. 😂

A few bits: The twins pushing against the wall was to highlight the advertisement behind him. His best friend "Freckles" has a few deleted scenes that show the actor playing him genuinely being destroyed by the role. Spending time in rehab and clearly being more emotionally conflicted. He even has one scene where he finds Truman during the search and lets him go. Which, IMO is a shame they removed them. There is also the irony of the guy running the show who leaves Truman with no privacy but jealously guards his own. This film is especially great on a rewatch where you can see even more blatant clues. Like the woman running the travel agent still having the tissue from her makeup being put on.

It's so frustrating when Alex doesn't get the point of some things early on (like when she crosses her fingers during the wedding wows, or the travel agent posters intended to keep him from traveling)

Oh. Alex. They literally showed the studio the show is filmed in. they claimed it was one of the only structures visible from space.

If there wasn't video proof I would swear he was watching with his eyes closed

See, this is one of those movies that actually did stay good throughout the years

The weird thing about his wife randomly doing sponsorships//promos in the middle of convos (like for Mococoa) is that Truman wouldn't know this was abnormal. He grew up with everyone around him talking about products like that. He should think those interjected "ads" are perfectly normal.

This was one of the most painful reaction videos I've ever tried to watch, I couldn't even finish it out of frustration with his lack of attention.

31:13 Talked over an iconic line there, dude! Christof saying, "Cue the sun." The Editor's Note at 35:10 got it exactly right.

Seemed to miss it..when he’s talking to his friend stocking the candy machine, his friend takes candy back out of the machine so he has more to stock. Also, when looking at the wedding photos, he sees that his wife had her fingers crossed.

Every time I watch Alex, one question always comes up; "How in the hell is this two second memory man, a lawyer?

Never seen this dude as clueless as he was watching this movie lmao

23:00 "and the last thing I'd do is lie to you" Truman never accused him of lying to him, this is why he gives him this look, at that moment he knows he's lying because he's defending himself from something he's not been attacked by.

This was years ahead of its time with regards to how reality tv affects people, it wasn't about Truman, it was about YOU.

As a semi-frequent viewer, I think the part of the audience who are frustrated by this reaction take issue with the fact that you spend so much time trying to think of ways to interject with yelling that you don’t actually REACT to what is happening because you miss it entirely. When you actually engage with the content of what you’re watching, you’re very entertaining. When you’re trying SO HARD to be funny, you miss a lot of what is going on and it really detracts from the experience. I think for a lot of people, reaction content is like sharing your favourite movie with a friend. In this case, rather than getting to see how that friend’s face lights up at the twists and turns etc., you sit there dejected as he yells over the plot with completely unrelated dick jokes. This movie is just drawing out more negative commentary because what is happening is literally told to you and is so obscenely obvious that it reads like you’re more interested in doing a skit than reacting to what you’re watching (which, to be clear, you’re obviously entitled to do. It is your channel!)

There's so much about this film you didn't get or didn't pick up on straight away, but then conversely you noticed something I''ve never noticed after all the years watching this film: that their Ford sedan doesn't have headrests. Thank you for pointing that out to me.

We watched this in grad school in medical ethics (psychology and schizophrenia). We had the hardest year in that class, we had to learn DSM IV and DSM V. The diagnosis of schizo does fit when he starts to find out, but the fact that he was kidnapped/purchased as a "living cell", confuses that he is suffering from "kidnapped" syndrome, you live and accept/protect your terrorist who has taken you hostage (living in the town). That throws it a total 180 deg thinking it that way.

It's SUCH a good movie! I remember being in year 9 (UK) and watching this for some reason in Geography 😆!

For me… this movie is a commentary on Plato’s cave allegory. “We accept the reality of the world we are presented” perfectly captures this movie. Knowing that, we can make our own conclusions of the message behind the movie.

I love you and your channel, bro! One of my favorites! But just watch the movie sometimes. Even just watching you react to moments without hearing you speak on them would be amazing.

I remember living through the OJ trial. People became this engrossed in that trial and some people were lost when it ended. It seems crazy, but never underestimate how crazy the public an be.

Alex does make me laugh, clearly an educated man, married, but so brand new that he doesn’t have a clue. Especially this film, not picking up on any important details going on. I do enjoy watching his reactions but he does get a bit excited at times. Haha

I watched a few of his Patreon exclusive vids and the few where he watches with his friends or editors are much more satisfying. The reason being they are there to clue Alex in on all the shit he is oblivious to and questioning. You know the stuff we usually yell at our screen at him when he’s missing something.

Anyone who likes this movie should watch Baeu is Afraid starting Joaquin Pheonix. Two absolutely mindmelting movies lmao. It's not very popular but it's an awesome film.

A brillant movie. Thanks for the reaction. Carrey pulled it off wonderfully. He's good at more dramatic roles. "Man On The Moon" is definitely another of his movies worth checking out. Perfectly cast together with DeVito and Paul Giamatti (also in this movie here in a minor role in the control room). Also a nod to Noah Emmerich, perfect here in his role. Fun fact: Seahaven more or less does exist in real life, looks pretty much as light and bright as in the movie. It's called "Seaside" and is located about 20mins away from PCB.

Most people would kill for a 9-5 steady job, instead of shift work, or having to clamor for hours, or working multiple jobs to keep a roof over their heads. I don't get the weird attitude towards that. You get a guaranteed weekend. You get steady income. 9-5 jobs typically also have the highest average salaries with the lowest risk. Win-win; work to live, not live to work.

This was a real innovation at the time, Jim Carrey did great in this movie. It shows the serious side of his talent but still shows some of his well-known comedic skills. You need to check out Number 23, its another straight role for Jim and I think it is excellent

Fun detail in film they often remove the headrests from the vehicles because they block certain shots and they obscure faces and interfere with lighting and stuff.
