If you aren't aware, Daft Punk produced an animated film called "Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem" which basically acts as a full length music video for Discovery. It is an awesome experience in its own right!
dude you gotta watch it, it adds another dimension and makes something thats already an masterpiece fuse with another masterpiiece. Its like goku and vegeta fusing.@@cavemanjack
That flute sound in Face to Face haunted fans for years because no one could find the sample until like a year ago, and the last sample was found a few months ago. Also the singer is Todd Edwards who also sings Fragments of Time from Random Access Memories.
@@cavemanjackTodd also is one of the pioneers of UK garage and his impact on the scene can’t be understated. It’s so cool how he sings as well, saw him live the other week and he went from playing garage tunes straight to singing Face to Face 😍😍😍
@@cavemanjack There are some really great sample breakdowns of this album on here that you might appreciate. Check this one out for example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5AqHSvR9bqs.html
Now that you're familiarized with 2000s french touch, you should try the album Cross from Justice. You'll find elements similar to Daft Punk's style but with more agression, rock-metal vibes sometimes.
I support this, all justice discography is incredible, i also recommend Sebastien Tellier "sexuality"(produced by daft punk's half, guy-man), such a great album and artist and sadly there's no much reactions or content about it.

I personally think this is their best album and one of the masterpieces of the genre, not a single bad track. Also second that person who recommended to watch Interstella 5555, it's a fabulous companion piece to this album and the animation in it is incredible.
Jack, you for sure need to check out Homework and Human After All. Either as a video or on your own time, purely so you're prepped for the masterpiece that is Alive 2007. Not enough people on RU-vid have reacted to their live album, and it's just a celebration of the first three albums mashed together in the best way possible.
@@cavemanjackReally it is. Alive 2007 is orgasmic to say the least, it is such a magical album. When you hear all the albums that came before and see all the songs being mashed up in such a new and genius way really changes your perspective on the original songs. It really is a legendary record. But please listen to Homework, it is a amazing album and Human After All is also great and way more experimental. But please listen to all of those before Alive.
Can't decide what I love more, your sincere and honest thoughts on incredible music or your moves as you vibe 😅😎 for real tho you're sound and I'm loving the channel!
one of the best albums oat without a doubt. the interstella 5555 movie adds so much to the experience. also checkout the alive 2007 set maybe after listening to human after all! awesome performance
I think one of the most underrated, under-mentioned parts of One More Time is how they leave the breath in between each vocal cut, makes it sound more like a robot, because humans cant take breaths while singing lol.... I always loved their decision to leave those in.
The vocal overlapping is moreso responsible for the feel, rather than just the breaths themselves. The robotic-ness is mainly coming from the AutoTune and the overlapping vocal lines - each line was recorded separately, so that they could be overlapped. For example, at 3:09, that first "One More Time!" call has an exhale at the end of it, but the "we're" in "we're gonna celebrate" happens at exactly the same time as the exhale does, which is the part that isn't humanly possible. Ditto for both "Oh yeah", "alright" and "don't stop the dancing". You also hear it for the last 32 bars of the track, with the "One More Time" line overlayed with the "music" from "music's got me feeling so free". Interesting sidenote, there's also a dotted eighth-note delay and a phaser, but both are set pretty low in the mix.
It's funny you mention it's like they gave Julian Casablancas a really robotic voice - because they literally had him sing into a vocoder for the song "Instant Crush" on their last album, "Random Access Memories".
@@mulrich It's well established that people say it's a vocoder. So is the confusion between AutoTune, vocoders, harmonizers, and talk boxes. But I've heard the track, and I have both a harmonizer and a vocoder in my equipment rack. They're using a harmonizer on Casablanca. It would make no sense to credit him as a vocalist, because vocoders don't capture modulator timbre, just carrier timbre. There'd be no reason to use Casablancas on the vocals because it only takes the spectral shifting (specifically pronunciation of vowels and consonants) of the modulator and no other characteristics. If it was a vocoder, Daft Punk may as well have done it themselves.
@@pc_buildyb0i935 you can sing into a vocoder, which is what was done for "Instant Crush". There's also literally an example of Pharrell Williams doing it as a test for "Lose Yourself to Dance" in the extras for the 10th anniversary edition of RAM. "Among the most consistent users of the vocoder in emulating the human voice are Daft Punk, who have used this instrument from their first album Homework (1997) to their latest work Random Access Memories (2013) and consider the convergence of technological and human voice "the identity of their musical project". For instance, the lyrics of "Around the World" (1997) are integrally vocoder-processed, "Get Lucky" (2013) features a mix of natural and processed human voices, and "Instant Crush" (2013) features Julian Casablancas singing into a vocoder."
The style of sampling in Face To Face is largely the work of Todd Edwards, who popularized that style of chopping up bits of various songs to create new melodies. Face To Face features twenty unique samples, some of which were only discovered recently. I made a recreation of the song and uploaded it to my channel if you wanna see. Face To Face samples: - Evil Woman by Electric Light Orchestra - Can't Get It Out Of My Head by Electric Light Orchestra - Silence And I by The Alan Parsons Project - Old And Wise by The Alan Parsons Project - House At Pooh Corner by Loggins and Messina - Body And Soul by Firefall - All Along The Watchtower by Dave Mason - Faith In The Families by Poco - Nothing Like Love by Rockie Robbins - The Letter by Deborah Washington - You Got Some Imagination by Boz Scraggs - Sometimes A Love Goes Wrong by Carrie Lucas - Everybody's Next One by Steppenwolf - South City Midnight Lady by The Doobie Brothers - Twins Theme by Dan Fogelberg - Tell Me To My Face by Dan Fogelberg - Lahaina Luna by Dan Fogelberg - Be Free by Loggins and Messina - It Keeps You Runnin' by The Doobie Brothers - Jisco Dazz by Herbie Mann
"Julian Casablancas with a robotic voice" ....ooooooh boy, it's time you were introduced to The Voidz. You'll find exactly what you were describing. Human Sadness, TET 2.0, ALieNNatioN, Dare I Care, Alien Crime Lord, etc. Enjoy.
Discovery was one of the first albums i got as a kid (that and demon days). Started me on my journey of loving electronic music and appreciating the art of sampling. Really special album. Should check out entroducing by dj shadow! Not housey or daft punk sounding but its another sampling showcase masterclass of a different feel/vibe from the 90s. Really moody and atmospheric, great sonic journey and one of my all tome favourites
In reality, saying Daft Punk are great is like saying the guys who change the tyres for the Ferrari F1 team win the races or the pharmacist on the russian athletics team won all those medals.. They didn't do the work, they just were talented mechanics..
Not all sounds are direct instruments lots and I mean a LOT are samples of other songs, even tiny notes, yes notes. Like Aerodynamic intro, those are guitar samples from another song.
Dude.. you really have to consider listening to Daft Punk's Alive 2007 Album. Youll get blown away how far they can go with their own music. I promise you youll have a BLAST listening to that album. I SWEAR!
I have been a huge Daft Punk fan since this album came out and it made me find Homework and then of course I was immediately on top of Alive 2007 well before that live album dropped. I had the Coachella set downloaded IMMEDIATELY. All that said I still think my favorite song of theirs all time is still Something About Us. It is just pure perfection IMO.
Something about us is the most heartfelt song on the album. A few more listens and you’ll sink into it more. Doesn’t have the impact or snap of the other tracks. An awesome album overall.
What an awesome reaction video. I really liked it. Too long wasn't my favourite at first either, but now it's one of my go-to tracks when i listen to this album. Timeless and so enjoyable
Hey dude, I wonder if you'd be down to react to some crazy underground music. My recommendation would be "The Mixtape Album" by Dolphin. It covers a variety of different sounds, is under 1 hour and has some funny skits between all the tracks, probably the most digestible album from this genre I can think of for someone to react to. Genre-wise, you'd be looking at hardcore, breakbeat, rave and jungle, as well as some techno & trance, but paired with lots of hip hop influence. Would love to see you react to something off-the-wall like that. Much love
Man that sounds fun! I’ve got a huge list of stuff to check out, but I’m always keen to add things to my list Appreciate you sharing your recommendation
Man, awesome video! Thank you :) Hearing Daft Punk never fails to put a smile on my face (even when it comes to their more melancholic tracks), and combined with _your_ energy this video was like a double serving of good vibes
Don’t think it’d make for a great reaction, but Caribou’s Start Breaking My Heart is wonderful casual electronic listening Stereolab’s Dots and Loops would make for a pretty cool reaction, another French electronic artist, there - Mum’s Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is Okay is also absolutely gorgeous Keep it up man!
If you let yourself go to the album and music it’s actually a good track. Just let yourself sink into it and move. I thinks it’s a good finally to the album personally.
