I have decided that your journey should be turned into a Master's level class on the geography and culture of Mexico and Central and South America. In addition, life lessons on economy of travel and life on the road, video production and just plain how to achieve a totally awesome life. Of all the things I have been taught in formalized education, they pale in comparison to the lessons you guys bring every time. By the way, it is a salt resistant algae and bacteria that produces carotenoids that turn the water pink and actually do turn the flamingos pinks as they eat the crustations from the pink water. That information is brought to you by the internet, I had no idea. My life is made better by you videos, keep it up!
Phil! It never fails to bring a smile to our faces while reading your comments. To us this life seems quite "normal" now, however far from it may be. I don't know how we would formalize a class, but maybe a talk at an Overland Expo one day! Very interesting about the pink lake, we were kind of right hhah! Thank you so much for your steadfast support and encouragement.
As a Peruvian-American and a fan of your channel, thank you so much for showing the World how beautiful Peru is. I almost cried when Stacey said Peru is now Mathew's favorite country on the trip. You still have Cuzco, Arequipa, and Puno to go, so it will definitely be your favorite. Greetings from Colorado. PS: I got the TWR Signature Heritage hoodie and love it.
So amazing guys. From Matthews voice overs to the amazing cinematography, the perfect editing, these videos just keep getting better and better! I literally laughed out loud to the rock crawling exit from camp. This is defintely one of the best travel movies on RU-vid. Thank you for all your hard work!
I’ve gotta say from the the first build vids to the travels up until now this has gotta be my favourite vid you guys have made , showing the raw shots of day to day life and the expanse and solitary of that desert camp out really hit the spot 😎🤙
👏👏 SPECTACULAR VIDEO This is in my bucket list... I'm Peruvian and I always wanted to drive thru and camp out by sea in the Paracas National Reserve, it's oftw looks like Mars. Also its history of ancient civilizations all throughout the coast of Peru.
Just another day at the beach........Great job showing us parts of Peru no one else ever does. Concerned about having to climb that rock wall to get out, but Sunday doing his job as usual. Pink Flamingo poop is all I can say! Safe travels and as always - much love 🧡
Hello Matt and Stacy. Your videos keep getting better and better. Like others have said, you are making professional quality videos and it’s a thrill to see a new one pop up, then view and share in your explorations. Amazing isn’t even a good enough description. Once again your video has brightened our day with smiles and laughter and sharing with your joy as your happiness is infectious. This morning after watching this latest video thoughts popped into my head about your endless opportunities in the future, of world travels, companies for the adventure tours for groups, teaching classes to open up eyes of young explorers. The possibilities are endless. I don’t know how you do it but once again I feel like saying that this was the best video. I started to say, “Stop. This is just too good. Ok. Now y’all are just showing off.” All said with a smile and laughter in my voice. Thank you once again for sharing your amazing journey with us. God bless you both. Bryan
Our video brightening your day warms the soul. It fuels our spirits so much we’re pretty sure Sunday runs off these comments. Thank you for taking the time to write it! We hope to continue brightening your day, and perfect our craft. Cheers! Matthew and Stacey
Good evening to you both from the south Okanagan where the yard snow has been melting nicely for a few days now. At risk of running out of superlatives, this video was really other worldly, but in a grand way. Where the dunes hit the ocean and the dunes themselves is something out of a sci-fi movie almost. Wild. The drone shots are fantastic, the music choice remains top notch and the amount and volume of the narration is very, very good. Stay well and safe travels you two.
The wife and I are huge fans of yours from the beginning of your journey and are proud to be supporters of your channel. Psss... we are the Olderlanders on your Patreon. Like others have said, you two absolutely nailed it on this one! The area you traveled, the video you captured, the sound mix, your voice over, and you two being the fantastic adventurers you are, as Brucemarcoux said, this is your best. This episode is one of the best travel videos on RU-vid. Thank you for your service and I plea to others to help support this channel and you two. From my wife and I, Thank You, and hopefully, one day, we can shake hands and say Hi. We live in Austin Tx if you ever pass through and need something from us.
Wow! We appreciate your support endless amounts. Thank you for taking the time to write this. We’re so happy you enjoyed the film. And absolutely, we will most likely be travelling from Texas back to Canada when we’re finished.
Desolate landscapes, dangers trails, super remote in the built overlanding rig, hundreds of miles from civilization, no chance of help or resupply, ultimate adventu.... 2:09 Dude in 3 wheeled tuck-tuck comes rolling by. Haha, but seriously, great video. Awesome locations.
You earned my subscription. Wonder work guys, saw your trip from the first episode and forgot to check back. Somehow the algorithm made your channel pop up on my feed. I am glad it did. May God guard your paths and continue to grow both in this channel and spiritually. 🤙🏽
WOW & WOW! That's some barren dessert and then the ocean and cliffs... Loved it so much. Your drone shots are amaaaaaaazing! Wonderful as always ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Alex says: Pepto Bismol Lake. We're so stoked to bring Ol'Betty here. So beautiful, friends. Meg says: Fry the spices with the onion and garlic first then add the rest of the ingredients.
A true beauty of a video, very sensitively made. I like to adress you guys to be aware of a thing, never air down only one axle on a 4x4, the difference on overall diameter of the tires will be affected and this could put some strain over your transfer case and the las thing we all want is you guys stuck somewhere because of a transfer case failure, hope for the best and a ton of new videos!
Ahhh i was waiting for a alusive quip into the life of the sky, "cough cough", starlink lifestyle lol wondering if you had it hard mounted somewhere sneaky but it makes sence too pack up and bring it out when necessarily. Saves wear. Holy cow its windy out there. Flamingos are pink from the beta carotene in shrimp i learned that from my uncle who turned himself orange from eating too many carrots lol 😂
Wow that's spectacular scenery! The drone footage was awesome! I want that life! Good for you both..don't give up on your dreams! From the east coast of Canada 🇨🇦..Stay safe 🙏
I had a brand new 1977 Toyota Hilux truck in high school.. I customized it it with 4 weber carbs, a header, and a cam... it was quicker than any z-28 or trans am from 0 - 80 in 5 counties.
You have produced a blend of poetry and adventure that is unmatched. Talent at its best. It is so hard to pick any one part of the video I like more tjhan the other. The TWR on the sand was an excellent touch. Thank you for putting your heart and soul in every video.
I grew up going to Paracas and is my favorite place on earth. ...and yes , is super windy!!!! and the pink lake are the lagoons made by the salt mine ( Saliinas de Otuma) . i have swim in one of those and is very interesting as the water is super dense due to salt, so you float a lot , and every single scratch in your skin will burn!
So many moments of nostalga for me in this video, from the cool skull findA(our family always had a competion at every campsite, first person to find a bone got a special treat that night around the campfire, it was a great way to have the kids go explore while we set up camp), by the way was it an anteater? Even the short shot of the sound of the waves moving the rocks around brought back so many memories of camping on beaches, well done guys, your story telling is getting better as you travel south. PS: Be prepared to have the top done quite a bit when you get to Argentina, it is crazy windy!
What an amazing idea for kids! Maybe we should do that and the reward is first beer 😂 we’re still not sure what the skull/bones are from! That’s so awesome that it brought you to a place, we love to hear that. And yes we hope there is less wind in the fall 🤞🏼 Thank you for watching!
Unbelievably beautiful terrain and you captured it so well! Man you're a long ways south of Vancouver Island now! Great content as always. Be safe-have fun! Cheers from the North Island. (Sointula)
A desert on the edge of the unknown. Awesome video. Looks like fun driving in the sand. All sand different from Baja Peninsula. Roll on Landcuriser chinook. Waiting for the next episode.
I live and adventure in utah. With toyotas, of course.. Watching this video makes me jealous of the remoteness. I always explore the road less traveled. But I'm never far away from civilization like this. I am fortunate enough to have a beautiful woman who is willing to explore and share these experiences (She has her own toyota as well) 😊 We love your content, and we hope we meet someday. Maybe when you're on your way back home to Canada you can stay in utah for a bit. We have a room for ya!
Effin' amazing. From a wannabe hippie pirate to the real deals; travel on. By the end of this video, my heart was pounding and I was thinking maybe I could make it down there too....... Awesome. Thank You
A very beautiful trip and I enjoyed it... As for the Pink Lake, the answer is... The lake turns pink when the temperature rises and returns to its natural color when the temperature drops. The reason is the presence of millions of a type of harmless bacteria in the lake and the color changes. These bacteria turn red as the temperature rises. The lake is not always pink, but the characteristic color of the water changes as a result of the green algae Dunaliella salina, Halobacterium and Halobacterium coccitrobrome, which is a high salt concentration. Once the lake water reaches a salinity level greater than that of sea water, the temperature is high enough and light conditions are provided. Insufficient, the algae begins to accumulate the red pigment beta-carotene. The pink roots grow in the salt crust at the bottom of the lake and the color of the lake is a result of the balance between salina and cotterobrom.
Wow what an amazing place to see. Nice that the desert was so drivable, I'd have concerns of getting stuck in the sand literally in the middle of a moonscape. Another excellent video!
I LOVE a you guys!!! Your content is second to none. When you get back to the island it would be an honour to meet you two in person for a couple of cold cervsas!!!
♥ Ty so much for this beautiful content!!!! I've been completely captivated for 3 days!!!! 🤓 Guatemala is my favorite!!! 😆 The pools and waterfalls 😱😱😱 The rock forest was amazing as well!!!! I'm very curious though.... Is there ever a food that doesn't taste fantastic??!! Lol 🤣😂you are both so adorable 💕
Great editing. You guys are approaching "Expedition Overland" quality, some scenes even better. Love the tour of your rig, very interesting seeing how it works. You guys should offer a Pan-American Highway tour every year where you guide a few vehicles through! Could be a good business.
That’s an amazing compliment, thank you! And dang, that would be pretty crazy to do once a year. I think we will need a couple years just to decompress after doing it once😂
The wife and I always commented. "They never show the inside the Chinook life"... this time you did, and it really upped the profesionalism of the overall narative. Your impecable video editing and musical choices to match the over-all themes is appreciated. Dont ever sell the L.C.Chinook!!!. it is the third character in an amazing adventure.
The water probably turns pink for the same reason the great salt lake turns pink. There is a micro organism that can only survive in a very salty environment. I got some cool footage of the great salt lake in my “Great salt Lake Adventure” video. 18:07
