Established in 2006, the National Biodiversity Centre (NBC) in NParks serves as Singapore’s one-stop hub for biodiversity-related information and activities. NBC is responsible for the conservation of both terrestrial and marine flora and fauna in Singapore, including the critically endangered Hawksbill Turtle. The Hawksbill Turtle is one of two species of sea turtles that call Singapore home.
Join our colleague Jerome behind-the-scenes to find out how the NBC team helps to conserve Hawksbill Turtles in Singapore. Through efforts to ensure that these hatchlings have a higher chance of survival, NParks also conducts satellite tracking of these marine wildlife to understand their movements and nesting habits. This helps us to better identify sites in Singapore that are important to these turtles and develop effective conservation strategies.
