You should do a tutorial on how to structure a game / program for those of us that want to learn/use C but are trapped in C++ because using C++ classes and abstraction are a crutch(me)! I'd greatly appreciate such a video(s). For starters, just opening a blank window and a game loop without (again) using C++ and creating a "Game" class with a loop function. Learning how to do that in C would be super helpful. I already use SDL2 which is a C library, so it would make sense to use C, but I'm too stuck on C++ classes and end up just wrapping SDL in C++ code

That sounds like a great idea :) I won't do it right away since I still have to nail the full game architecture down myself but I'll try making a tutorial like that when I feel informed enough to do so!

I know it's been 3 years, but I've finally been doing some C programming tutorial videos 👍 I've got a few on setting up a window, graphics and sound and soon I'll be making one about game architecture.

Great stuff Nick. I agree on using the same character sprites from the overworld. I don't have too much of an issue with the font, but maybe some sort of consistency would be good. Can't wait to see how the C game progress goes. Thanks for the update!

Keep the NPC pictures just like they are in overworld (Thanks to this you will have more space for dialog) , and change the font - it's quite hard to read, the one you use in overworld is great! The speachbubbles in dark blue looks good! :) Will you support Notemon with new content after it will be done?

I'm really surprised you think the regular 3x5 PICO-8 font is more readable than this but I'll try out more options. I hadn't even considered using the same character sprites in the dialogue! I'll have to try that out. That would solve the issue with gender - I want the characters to look androgynous like they do in the overworld and it's tough to maintain that with the greater detail in the higher res sprites. Thanks for the helpful feedback :) As for support after Notemon comes out, it's hard to say. I'll certainly fix bugs if they pop up after launch and balance the Notemon. If there are any things I really wanted to add but decided to cut for the release I'll add them in after. I suppose if new ideas occur to me or if people have interesting suggestions then I'll consider putting them in, and on the off-chance that Notemon sells really well (lots of sales not being my main goal) then I might as well make more content for it :)
