So a product that may compete in gaming/competition but not a competitor to new duty micro red dot sights like the Aimpoint ACRO. Maybe this is laying the technical groundwork for a next-gen evolution of the RMR. But in the meantime, Trijicon is still recommending people carry the RMR while competitors develop products aimed as surpassing the capabilities of the RMR. If they succeed, they'll be at the top of the market. Trijicon had better not rest on their laurels as competitors are close on their heels, or they'll lose a major share of the market.
The RMR adjustable goes for $700 on trijicon's website and I just bought mine for $425 new. The SRO is probably going to be in the $570-$620 range for the first year or 2.
That happens fairly often with high quality optics. There's dudes with very expensive custom chassis 6.5 CM guns wearing glass that costs more than the gun itself.

So... trijicon finally figured out that whatever ruggedness they get from that crappy bunny ear design isn't worth the loss of window size. Thank god they finally figured out top loading batteries are a thing... Next they'll realize that an extra 2 years of battery life isn't worth having glass that is tinted so heavily it makes it seem like you're looking through dyed Reynold's wrap. Then we'll finally have a ... trijicon branded deltapoint pro
Damit!! JUST bought an rmr... didn’t like tint on glass, so went with a full size mro grn dot offset for a secondary sight bc my primary sight aurora access has Green reticle & green/green transitions are much better than green/red. Looks like I’ll now be repurposing the rmr & this new mini mro will make aimpoints new micro arco have some fierce competition. As it seems the rmr& delta point pro are no longer the only two options for micro red dots & when companies compete the consumers benefit bc it drives innovation of great new products & can’t wait to get my hands on a few of these goodies.
Just ordered a CZ P-01c Optics-(not)-Ready model. Whenever CZ gets the idea to finally mass-produce slide plates, it may be just in time for when the SRO becomes available.
If you havent scratched it yet you probably wont have any issues selling it for almost full price so you can put $ towards the SRO. But Id put it up for sale asap. Although im curious how well this design will do with the drop test. All other optics that have the dome shaped top because of the MROs patented design cant be copied all lack the tenancy to resist glass damage on drop test (of course when dropped directly on the top). Although the Holosun pistol optic continued to work and dot actually maintained its zero even after its glass had been cracked, droped again after being cracked, and yet still held. That was Sage Dynamics review.
I would like to see a motion detect feature, like on another sight, whereas the sight will turn itself off when no motion is happening, and as son as the gun is moved it comes to life where you left he last setting. This would greatly enhance the battery life even further.
It’s marketed toward the civilian/competition shooting crowd. As in, the same people who will pay thousands of dollars to, technically, make their gun less reliable but quicker to shoot. I think that’s the point.
No, you're paying for much, much clearer glass, a significantly bigger sight picture, top load battery, and a crisper reticle for only $50 more. The clearer glass alone is worth $50 more, and it still has 2,000 lbs of crush resistance that's PLENTY rugged lol.
Glad it has less tint (in exchange for battery life), but the real question is does it have less fisheye and magnification than the RMR, which drives me nuts.
This with the a circle dot reticle would be great for a tiny pcc. I have a holosun 507c on my 4.5” 9mm ar, and an rmr on my g26L(custom). I wouldn’t swap out my rmr, but I’d replace the 507c with it.
I am all for the motto you get what you pay for to a reasonable extent, but where can you justify the cost of $740 to let’s say sight mark MRDS for $200, obviously I know the quality for one but the site Mark company is far different now than 10 years ago and I’ve purchased several just want to see what yours offers over, For that much more
Begs the question....why? The rmr already does what this does and according to Logan's own words, it will do it cheaper (40ish) and be more durable and have longer battery life....footprint may be the same but the hood is obviously bigger and you give up the concave shape that makes the rmr as durable as it is....only real benefit to this optic is the top loading battery and MAYBE a larger field of view, but if you're shooting both eyes open it shouldn't make a difference....again....why? The acro is gonna unseat the mrds king unless trijicon figures out how to make an rmr with a sealed emitter
From shooting competition the larger window absolutely makes a difference. The RMR is basically unusable in competition with the small overly tinted window. The SRO clearly competes with the DeltaPoint Pro and CMore RTS2. The large window is just plain faster.
this looks great.... but the fact that its MORE Expensive than the RMR, but LESS resitant to breaking is just ridiculous IMO. No Thanks. I'll stick with the 507C till I can Afford an actual RMR. and man you guys have the BEST outro music!! I get that trijicon has high quality products but holy shit theres a few other companies that sell close to if not the same quality optics as them for half the price....their prices are absolutely rediculous

This guy sounds like the "top mounted battery" is a revolutionary feature they have invented. Compare that to some red dots that have been around for years. While you are at it, compare the profile (height) and the field of view. Not to mention the top that looks like little Johnny molded it from cheap plastic in his shed. Look, a car with four wheels that touch the ground! Give me a break.

@@SikterEfendi The FOV matches the CMore RTS but is a much tougher optic, so it could do what the RMR can't and double as a duty and competition optic. I take it you've never even seen an ACOG in person lol, same coating and material as the SRO.
Who is spending the kind of dough it cost to get an RMR on your pistol and doesn't have the basic grip fundamentals that they cant track the sight under recoil???
I don't care how good your fundamentals are, a larger aperture makes sight tracking and target alignment faster even on guns with negligible muzzle rise, not to mention on a handgun.
Its no different than a normal gun. I do it everyday. I did have to trim my holster veerry little. I guess it depends on the location on your gun, the gun and the holster.
You can buy holster that have a cut out for red dots. I think bravo concealment offers and optional cut out for a optic on a handgun. I also believe they customize it to the specific optic you have.
@@cathompson58 Its on top of your slide, no where near your hand. People have used it to rack their slide against a brick wall. It won't break off. I guess you can shoot it off.....but normal sights can be shot off too...

I agree with Airbomb, they SHOULDNT cost that much. They're made for rifles.... the 'pistol' models should NOT be more expensive than the freaking pistol you're putting them on.

And no, these are not made for rifles lol; you're going to put a sealed emitter red dot on a rifle because you have the real estate to do so. You get what you pay for in red dots in terms of dot crispness and glass clarity.
Red dots aren't that expensive already, especially you can get exactly the same kind of performance out of a holosun that costs 1/5 as much, albeit at a much lower quality

It would be a nice option. While I run irons with my dots, I know lots of guys who do not like them on their competition blasters. Seeing as that was their market for this, I see their reasoning for not integrating it

Forgive me for being redundant, but the reason the SRO is not recommended for CC- not considered durable enough? I have been looking at the type2 RMR as my first pistol sight, yet this seems better suited to fit my bad eyes. As long as this sustains 6 ft drops and slide manipulations, just appears to be a better version... Current Type2 owners, your thoughts on this as CC sight?
CLAY BLACKWELL My opinion is it’s just marketing speak to try and differentiate the two products. It doesn’t seem to be any less durable a design than a DeltaPoint Pro and those have been LE issued by many departments and adopted by the Army. I think drop resistance is a bit of an overrated concern and I’d give up a little durability for a fair amount of speed. Trijicon is still claiming this to be the second most durable optic behind the RMR. Where I think this might actually beat out the RMR in durability is cycle life. The open battery design on the RMR was one of the bigger weak points in maintaining a good battery connection, see flickering RMR issue. I’m looking forward to Aaron Cowen’s test from Sage Dynamics.
That....and the fact that it's huge for what it is, doesn't use any of the common footprints, doesn't use the standard battery, and the window design creates tunnel vision I mean, I love my T2, but Trijicon clearly has the edge in pistol sized optics
@@seandlax9 No. The ACRO is within a millimeter as tall as and 2 millimeters as wide as an RMR. It's ostensibly the same size. Having talked to a friend who mill Glock slides for a living, the ACRO has a better footprint than any of the others. It cuts less material out of that slide and is easier to machine. Not to mention the fact Aimpoint came out with an adapter plate for most Optics ready pistols. The CR1225 battery it does use is available at Walmart and is less than $2 on Amazon. The sealed design of the ACRO is leagues better than any of the open style red dots because now it doesn't fog. You don't have to worry about getting water, dirt, or cheeto dust in the emitter. It;s the same reason the tube is better on rifles. Trijicon RMRs are stacked rifle optics people put on pistols because they were convenient and available. The Gen1s had flickering issues and the guy who mills Glock slides has killed at least two Gen2s under very similar circumstances to the Gen1s. The dark ages of the Trijicon RMR are over. The future is now old man.
It does not make sense to me that the RMR is going to continue to be their gold standard, which is more rugged and gets better battery life than the new optic, but they are going to charge more money for this new, not-as-duty-worthy optic. It sounds like the increase in price is to catch people who insist on a top loading battery. Sounds like people should just skip the new one and stick with the RMR. If you are the type that would be upset about having to replace your pistol optic battery and re-zeroing the optics every 4 years (or even every year for that matter) , then do yourself a favor and skip the pistol optic.
@@skyhop it does not seem to me that a marginally bigger optic would justify a higher price. By that logic, the Aimpoint M5 optics should cost less than the older M4 optics. My main point here is that the one that the salesman is saying is the more duty-worthy optic is cheaper, even though it has a more durable design and a longer battery life, and the justification for the $50 extra cost is a marginally bigger, more fragile lens? Does not make much sense to me. If I were an RMR owner, I don't see a scenario in which I would feel the need to replace it with an SRO, or to buy an SRO when the RMR was a option.
Well I'm running an RMR and don't feel obligated to switch. I was at indy and tried out the SRO and while for a range gun it'd be nice, it's just too big to daily carry. You're paying for R&D involved in a new optic and new machinery involved in the process of making the sight, ultimately.
