We’ve just conducted an inventory of the numbers of each color lens on the lamps, because we plan to replace all 500 of the incandescent bulbs with LEDs, and want to purchase the correct numbers of the correct colors of LEDs to match the lenses. If a particular lamp has a blue lens, we want a blue LED for the best results. Nate also this video of my test to see if the Bailey Pneumatic meters can be operated electrically via a piece of Nitinol. If so, we can operate the meters without having to restore the entire pneumatic system. What you DON’T see from the front of the panel is that about half the instruments have copper tubes running to them to drive them. It’s a plumbing nightmare back there. The electrical wiring is screwey. Everything is 120 volts AC, mechanical relays and vacuum tubes. Ou ultimate aim is to have a modern minicomputer running software that emulates a live reactor, so the instruments can respond to the control-settings and the whole thing becomes an interactive educational display. That’s part of the more grandiose plan to turn the entire ship into a museum, and open it to the public.
