The BCCI attitude is the India's vision for it's international place. As in, while we'll condemn the international community for not considering India, we'll celebrate being seperate from the global discourse for maintaining the casteism, religious stupidity and localised monopoly of power and influence under the rich and privileged.

Great Interview Mr Menon and Mr Happymon(I love your name). Mr Menon said that US and China are economically connected at the hip. For all the noise and bluster between China and US, China's economic miracle was powered by US wall Street and Nasdaq companies. They continue to do it. India HAS TO seriously think thru how to navigate this complicated global scenario. It needs profound statesmanship and some hard thinking on how to protect Indian interests. Clearly lacking at present. I love Mr. Menon saying that all endeavours in foreign policy has to be with a single minded purpose of improving the lives of Indians in all respects. As a common Indian I beleive that we should grow our economy at a very high pace. We have actually wasted the last full decade on the economic front. UPA2 and NDA from 2014 is an economic nightmare.
Listening to menon ji is always delighting... even though some of his opinions are formed by almost like a non alignment hangover.....we keep hearing about strategic autonomy,and maximizing options.....we are like man standing on railway platform not getting on any train.....and telling people i am maximizing my options...this is one of the reason why we didn't aboarded industrialization train .....and there is no shame in exporting or sharing our defence and trade it for economic prosperity......look at korea, japan, Australia......

India can never not be part of the Third World, just like any other country can't change their Three Worlds status (e.g., Switzerland is a Third World country). You mean why is India still a developing country. And he already acknowledged it: Nehru was right on the politics, but wrong on the economics. Strong economics leads to a developed country.
Why did we allow build-up of such huge trade deficit against China? Why did we allow import of cheap everyday stuff from China, stuff that 20yrs ago were routinely manufactured in India? Why didn't we impose big tariff against dumping of Chinese cheap stuff on India? And, why are we still allowing unnecessary Chinese imports?
I don't think you understand how trade works. You don't _allow_ "a build-up of a huge trade deficit", you have to trade with them more so that the trade is back in balance. India barely produces stuff, and the stuff that it does produce is done inefficiently and of poor quality. Why would China want to buy this stuff? The reason India buys stuff from China is because it's cheaper and of good quality. You're seriously suggesting that a country that has the world's largest abjectly poor population is going to deny cheap goods to them because of the country's ego/pride?
@@tstcikhthys Really? What part of the word 'DUMPING' don't you understand? Ever tried to understand what it means or why one country does it to the market of other country? Let me educate you: In China All the land belongs to govt. Initially when a Chinese factory starts in China , govt provides it ZERO COST land, water electricity plus a guaranteed supply of labor-force who cannot strike or stop work. Thus, the product this factory makes is cheap because it is heavily 'STATE SUBSIDIZED'. Next, China starts exporting this artificially cheap product to another country whose clueless top officials (read India & Menon-types) don't understand that this 'dumping' is being done to out-compete the native factories, making them unprofitable which eventually forces them to close. This is UNFAIR TRADE. But dumping can happen only if we open our market to the dumper. That is the next sin of clue-less Menon-types. Giving access to our market was a HUGE privilege. In colonial times Europeans had to send armies and navies to pry open a colony's market but Menon-types s of India did open it to our no 1 threat China while sipping cocktails. That is the tragedy. Finally, no, we don't have to buy poison just because it is cheaper. Chinese products may be cheaper upfront but its long-term costs in terms of our own lost factories, lost work-force and lost pay checks are enormous and far, far greater. When an Indian factory closes because its products cannot compete with the prices of the state-subsidized Chinese products, it brings misery to the hundreds of families of the newly unemployed. In past 30yrs this have devastated not just India but even US manufacturing jobs - so much so that West has now forced to erect Tariffs & anti-dumping laws against Chinese products. Plus later this year US & EU will add a pollution tax on Chinese steel & metal because it uses energy from coal.
@@nakshatraroy7442 I hope you realize that _dumping_ is explicitly forbidden as per the WTO. Moreover, dumping is not merely subsidizing something; it's when a country exports things for a cheaper price than what you can get it in their own country. That's not what China is doing. Frankly, the consumer market overall is so small in monetary terms in India that it wouldn't be worth China's while to vastly subsidize and do all that for so little return. And while the things you're pointing out to occur to some extent, they're mostly confined to history. China doesn't need to do that anymore because they have extremely efficient manufacturing techniques and more reasonable labour laws. But more importantly, you have to understand that having good regulations is a kind of subsidy provided by any government. In India, it's illegal for any company (excluding some sectors) over 50 people to fire an employee without consulting the government. Let that sink in. On top of it and many other nonsense regulations, Indian manufacturers and supply chains are hugely inefficient. Obviously, that's going to result in higher costs, lower economies of scale, and poor quality...and, indeed, that's what we have. As for the West imposing tariffs on China, you seem to have misunderstood the situation. The West isn't imposing tariffs on China because they "dumped" their goods on the world; they're imposing them as a political reaction to the fact that they lost manufacturing jobs simply because their labour costs were too high and only now are "realizing" it. Ironically, it's the common people in the US now complaining that goods and services are too expensive because of the tariffs and that they should be lowered/removed. It's also a lot of misplaced anger because most of the manufacturing jobs lost in the US were lost to automation, not to China. Since common people don't have the patience or desire to learn about how an economy or economics actually works, they just look for some scapegoat to pin the blame on, and China seems to be a good scapegoat du jour. While there is something to be said about energy use from coal and how that should be taxed, the other stuff is not so simple, so you shouldn't make it out to be.
