Between MacDonaldtown and Strathfield, the 2 tracks furthest from where your train was are the UP and DOWN local lines which are used by T2 Inner West and Leppington all stations services to Homebush, express services to Parramatta and Leppington, the next 2 tracks in the middle are the UP and DOWN suburban lines which are mainly used by T1 North Shore and Western line services to Gordon, Hornsby, Berowra, Blacktown, Penrith, Richmond and Emu Plains, T9 Northern line services to Epping, Gordon and Hornsby, the final 2 tracks are the UP and DOWN main lines which are used by BMT services to Central (i), Lithgow, Katoomba, Bathurst, Springwood and Mt Victoria, The Indian Pacific to Perth, CCN services to Gosford, Wyong and Newcastle Interchange, they're also used by the following NSW TrainLink regional trains, NT31 Central to Brisbane Roma St, NT32 Brisbane Roma St to Central, NT33 Central to Casino, NT34 Casino to Central, NT35 Central to Grafton, NT36 Grafton to Central, NP23 Central to Armidale, NP24 Armidale to Central, NP43 Central to Moree, NP44 Moree to Central, WT27 Central to Dubbo, WT28 Dubbo to Central, WP45 Central to Broken Hill and WP46 Broken Hill to Central W=Western Region N=Northen Region S=Southern region T=XPT P=Xplorer UP= Towards Central DOWN= Away from Central

LOL - I used to catch the train from Woy Woy to the city for years. Whenever I do this route these days I can still anticipate the next corner etc. As for Wondabyne a few mates and I once camped there after hiking over from Woy Woy. Way back then it had a set of sculptures that have now been moved on. This video brought back a lot of very old happy memories!

WELL DONE . thank you , i thoroughly enjoyed this video. I have travelled this line many hundreds of times over the past 50 years or so , from the old Newcastle Station to Central , and more recently from the new Newcastle Interchange ( which is horrible , its like an over grown car port with NO shelter from the elements in Winter ) . It was obviously built on the cheap as Newcastle is the poor cousin of Sydney. Thank you again for a great video. Ray

Excellent Rory yes the V sets are my favourite aswell, imagine how many millions of klm they have done over their life.. My father drove them for years. Cowan is the end of the suburban line, not Berowra, unless things have changed. I grew up in Berowra. The Blue Mountains line is a good one, see if you can get a ride up the front on a Vset going up the mountains its definitely different compared to been a passenger..

The V sets are far more comfortable than the horrible H sets. The V sets feel more spacious and less claustrophobic when busy than the H sets. Also the seating is vastly more comfortable on the V sets.

Great video.. Technically the new roof at Central isn't part of Central Walk - that's 2/3 of the way down the platforms. The roof provides a new concourse and elevators to platforms 8-14 when reinstated, highlights the heritage buildings with the new void, and provides access to the new Metro Concourse which will provide access to Central Walk

@@RoryDing A little bit of trivia. Bradfield's original plan had only four tracks, (Main and Suburban, both faster with less curves) from the city running west. Another pair of tracks were to come in from the west under / near Parramatta Road and into the city. They were to then form the original Eastern Suburbs Railway, using the same platforms at Town Hall as the modern ESR but then looping around to the missing platforms in the middle of St James (and through the underground platforms at Central IIRC), then dividing into two tracks making a big loop around the Eastern Suburbs and back again. The current six tracks were a cheaper option squeezed into the available corridor.

I worked on those buildings 6.01 into the video Rory if it wasn’t for a piece of parramatta rope and the safety fence surrounding the building 800 tonnes of concrete corefill mix and 500 x 300 x300 blocks could of came crashing down onto the tracks as there’s only a 2.5 meter buffer zone between buildings and tracks there and they went to high with the block work before core filling the fill didn’t go down all the way to the bottom of the block work it filled only the top section over balancing the wall and then an agitator backing in just touched the wall and the section holding the mix just tipped forward with blocks and concrete core-fill mix 8 meters in all it went every where and the rope and shade cloth stopped it from crashing down onto the track which could of caused a bad accident or fell on a passing train... there was no investigation as they covered it up
