Lance is hopping on one leg in the Bye Bye Bye signature jumps. He sprained his ankle in March 2000 during the SNL rehearsals. They modified the final chorus because of that. This is definitely in 2000 and not 1999. 🙂
The title got me confused because of that xD I know No Strings Attached came out on 2000, so whatever performance (Bye Bye Bye in this case) should have come afterwards to promote the album
Prior to its official release, NSYNC performed "Bye Bye Bye" at the Radio Music Awards on October 28, 1999, at the LIFEbeat AIDS benefit concert in New York on December 1, 1999, and on The Rosie O'Donnell Show on Christmas Eve in 1999.

I say this because JC isn’t good at lip syncing (thankfully) and you can normally tell that he’s lip syncing. And I can’t find any evidence of him lip syncing.
@@quentincarey This is definitely lip synced. It sounds exactly like the studio version. You can hear people clapping in the background too so whoever posted this video didn't overlay music. When they're actually singing they sound less polished because they're dancing and jumping around. I know they use backtracks on some of their performances but its pretty rare that they completely lip sync it. I wonder why they did this time? I would just assume that maybe Justin or JC lost their voice or was unable to sing that day.
