How decent and warm a man is Michael Palin. I'd love to meet him for lunch, but then I know I'd have nothing to say which would meet his brilliant intellect and hold his attention. SO I'll say this, the world honestly loves you, Michael Palin.
6:27 -- This is the most tear-jerking moment. To think that way back when he was but a small comedian making jokes, he cracked one about, "Where have I been? Where HAVEN'T I been?!" and that actually became his life and career.
Thank you Sir Michael Palin for the great moments you given us over the years. heartfelt and beautiful tribute to Terry Jones. God bless you, your family and Monty Python family.
I grew up with Python and Michal Palin’s documentaries and own tv ventures (Ripping Yarns, anyone?), so meeting him as a pre-teen is probably the single best gift my dad gave me that day when he kept me off school to travel to Glasgow for Michael’s book signing. I was far too star-stuck to even speak, and I was pretty overwhelmed emotionally. I guess I viewed him as a grandfather, and this one was still alive for me to meet. 😂 He was such a gentle and kind man to me, and spoke fondly with my dad for longer than he needed to. Doubt I’ll get the chance to meet him again, but what a wonderful human being. His using the award to revere Terry Jones is both touching and expected. Michael is just that kind of guy. ☺️
While they all make me laugh, Michael is truly the one out of all the Pythons who can make me genuinely smile from ear to ear. He has such humility, love for life, and empathy for others. A wonderful man.
I'm not going to cry, I'm not. I would do anything for this man, truly deserving of every honour bestowed upon him and more. Love you Michael. (Also who the fuck disliked this?)
Michael Palin was definitely my favourite out of all the Python's. The characters he played. Spanish inquisition, shopkeeper to John Cleese' customer in the Dead Parrott sketch, Fish slapping dance, argument clinic, the peasant in Holy Grail, arguing with King Arthur about politics, the Nights who say Ni, ex-leper in Brian, Big nose at the beginning, prisoner who says "You Lucky Bastard", Every Sperm is Sacred in Meaning of Life, Marching Up and down in the square. I also love all the characters he played in Ripping Yarns, which he wrote with the late Terry Jones. He wrote and starred in The Missionary. Co-wrote Time Bandits with Terry Gilliam. Gilliam loved Michaels writing and acting. He cast him against type in the brilliant Brazil. Where Michael plays a real evil minister of information. In the documentary, Terry Gilliam tells the story of how he had to say no to the one and only Robert De Niro, who loved the script for Brazil, but wanted Michael Palins part. The ever loyal Gilliam had to tell De Niro that that part was taken by Michael Palin, so De Niro took the part of Harry Tuttle, rogue electrician. Brazil is one of my all time favourite films, along with Life of Brian. Both starring Michael Palin. He played a great part in G.B.H., written by Boys from the blackstuff creator, Alan Bleasdale. Another great Writer. It showed Michaels versatility as an actor. I also remember watching East of Ipswich, written by Palin, but he didn't star in it. He was a member of the greatest comedy team ever. Monty python's flying circus was such a hilarious, yet groundbreaking comedy sketch show, that broke all the rules, and has some of the most famous sketches of all time in it. Dead Parrott, Nudge, Nudge, Spanish Inquisition, Spam, etch. This programme alone was responsible for future shows like Not the Nine O'clock News, A Kick up the Eighties, The Young Ones, Comic Strip Presents, Blackadder, The Fast Show, Big Train. Their Films are now legendary. Holy Grail, Life Of Brian (surely the greatest and most hilarious comedy film ever), Meaning Of Life. What a hugely talented, popular and humble man. He's brought so many people so much enjoyment.
I’m an x London chauffeur picking him up from his house was hilarious there was a load of building work going on and he said Peter piper what’s going on here is this the boys from the black stuff a memory I will never forget I told him my partner at the time was a huge fan he said give me her address I swear next day signed picture saying to Ann lots of love and best wishes Michael palin a friend of Peter piper
Agreed and I’d be delighted to be proven wrong but I think Cleese finds this stuff far too arbitrary and conventional. I think I’m right in saying Palin is the only Python to accept a knighthood?
Two of my favorite Michael Palin moments! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pfRdur8GLBM.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HrcbCW4y9Dw.html
