In this video I will cover most of the Radiation Mechanics in HBM's Nuclear Tech Mod and how to protect yourself against it using Hazmat Suits, Liquidator Suits, Armors, Claddings (Armor Modifications), RadAways, Decontaminators and Absorbers. Whenever I've had a meltdown, I just abandon the area and set up a quarantine zone around it. I always build my power plants far from my main area anyways lol. Nice video, now I don't have to have dozens of chernobyls in my world anymore lmao.

it is a bad idea as i have figured out because the chunks with the power plant do not load which means that you don't get the energy

@@Max-zo6rv I use chunk loaders from another mod I have to keep them loaded as well as the ones with the power lines. I have a beefy PC so it can handle tons of chunks loaded at once. Pretty sure I would have noticed this a while ago and resolved it otherwise.

if you're on 1.12.2 here's a tip: make a radiation proof bunker (use sealed exits for fluids) use an airlock (two doors are really cheap to make, but i reccomend using more blast proof doors since the explosion is harsh in case of explosion you can just can it and call it a day but if you don't wanna do it then obtain a remote access block to your reactor, it has a automatic shutdown mode incase something goes wrong

I really want to build a bunker with almost no radiation inside, but with fallout right behind the door (something like survival in the radioactive wasteland).

If im not wrong you missed the tungsten reacher, if it even still exists, which lowers radiation of items in your inventory and nullified pyro-active properties when in your main hand, nonetheless great video man! I can see all the effort that went behind it! ❤

I think in 1.12.2 version concrete protects from radiation and u can actually make a bunker in which u can walk without hazmat suit and live

Sort of. I've tried to do something like this, but looks like It still works only between chunks. Walls and doors will protect, but as long as yo have at least one block missing it spreads. Also, building underground as ineffective as on the surface.

Bro I followed your rbmk tutorial and I had the control rods out for some reason and I needed to change the piping for the steam because I had used the wrong one and so I took the water out of the tank and by the time my dumb brain realized my mistake when the rods started jumping I was running to the control to hit a3-5 and it just exploded and now there is lead surrounding the reactor and I’ve sealed it all off

ALWAYS remove fuel rods and store them in either a spent fuel pool drum or rbmk storage column before making changes in a reactor. I have messed up my designs like this a few times too :( also it is a good idea to shut off your reactor before leaving the world so it doesn't go booom as soon as you join back in

For the dead grass it can recover and go back to normal grass or we need to remove everything? Btw could you build a power plant design that can contain nuclear meltdown from most of the reactors?

Dead grass doesn't go back to normal, you'll need new dirt/grass blocks there. Also I'll try to make a building that can contain most of the radiation in my new Nuclear reactor build

Heres the thing... i wise the giger counter actually had an actually rotating analog dial on it that mives would have been nice instead of having the right click it all the time and i wish the sound was that more of the classic eerie clicking sound we all know and love like that in chernobyl. Any mods that could do that with this mod?

Ntm has it's own radiation system, so I don't think any other mods Geiger counter will work for it.

its a feature in base mc no mods needed, for 1.7.10 press F3+G to enable chunks

I am using 1.7.10, it is the version which is most updates so I recommend you use that too

@@wind_andenergy4611 yeah compatibility with other mods is kinda an issue in 1.7.10 but then again you won't need most other mods case ntm 1.7.10 is like a modpack in itself

@@SavageVegeta very true but some mods add things that truly give the game a tech feel while other things Hbm replaced since they are more efficient and cheaper and same with other mods, like nuclear craft its much easier to make Hbm fuel using nuclear craft uranium isotopes

How do I contain radiation from a working RBMK reactor? I've put the panels on top, encased it in a concrete brick cube, with paintable coated ducts for water and steam pipes to cross inside/outside. But I still get radiation so I have to use radiation absorbers and hazmat suit. Is there anything I can do to to not irradiatie the environment around the reactor so I don't need to build it away from home?

place rbmk neutron absorbers on the perimeter of the reactor inline with the fuel rods.

@@SavageVegeta thanks I got the hang of it. Also I think in certains designs you can alternatively place a concrete column instead of an absorber because then the heat won't diffuse to that concrete column and you can get more steam

First And a bit of suggestions I know bro your main video goal for the channel is HBM but doing a hardcore survival of horror Minecraft in 1.19 cave dwellers, from the fog and the man from the fog will be a preety good series rather than guides I guess we need some spicing up the channel a bit ❤❤❤

Cave Dwellers, a few weeks ago someone recommended this exact mod to me. The thing is survival isn't really my thing bro ... But if someday I'll look to spice up the content I'll definitely keep this in mind. Right now my focus is on megabuilds like Nuclear power plants and oil power plants.

That's why it's a good idea to make a concrete enclosure, that should prevent most radiation from leaking out.
