I put a note in the video description about this mistake and pinned your comment as thanks for the correction. The next version of this video will have this error corrected.
@@DryHeatAndSand no worries, just noticed the small error. Great vid otherwise, appreciate the info sharing! Very useful for those not in the know of modern munitions/tactics and how they translate to Nuclear Option.
Notching is turning 90° from the radar that is guiding the missile, so that it is on your left or your right-visible on the minimap with the small orange beam. The radar modeled in this game is pulse doppler, which sees things by differentiating the speed of it to the background, so if you are moving sideways you essentially have the same speed compared to the ground, from the radars perspective. Note that only sees movement away or towards it.
notching is a maneuver usually done by rapidly bleeding altitude and turning left or right 90 degrees of the missile / radar, this is because the loss of altitude is to come off as ground clutter and the turning is to try lose lock.
Actually, the PAB-80LR is very stealthy, and can usually only be shot down by SPAAG. At medium speed it closes too quickly for the Boltstrike to gain a track due to its very low RCS (essentially the radar return of it, think of it like shining a light at a black object), and thus the Boltstrike is only capable of launching when it is too late, and the missile does not have the room to turn.
@@kerbalairforce8802 its getting a nerf not too soon, increasing drag and RCS a little. right now they are just incredibly good lol, which shouldnt be the case
Great video. I certainly appreciate you putting up video of all these weapons in action. Didn't know everything was a smart weapon like bombs and rocket pods. I'll probably have to reference this video a couple times before I memorize which does what.
Re: Lynchpin vs tanks: Is it known if armor FACING is modeled? Front of tank heavier armored than front of turret, which is heavier than the sides, which is heavier than the bottom, heavier than the rear, and softest on top? Would be wild if the Lynchpin could be a reliable anti-armor weapon if you're willing to position the launch properly. Also, FANTASTIC video. It's criminal this information isn't in the game already, and you give us data that might never be, like which weapons are easier to intercept than others. Truly, thank you and bravo.
To my knowledge war thunder style armor facing is not applied to ground vehicles, though ships and aircraft do use compartment based damage modeling. I'm pretty sure each compartment uses hit points to run damage assessment.
From my experience the ground clearance to break a lock of RAM-45 missiles is 20m rather than the mentioned 15m. Thank you for making this series, it really helps newcomers (an earlier video helped me when i got the game) :)
Slow motion is a local game keybind you can look up in the settings. Spectator mode is usually available before joining a faction, but you can still enter look about mode before a respawn by selecting objects on the map, including missiles and bombs.
