In this video I walk you through a startup and take you to steady state operations with the Nuclear reactor in NUCLEARES. NUCLEARES is a game on steam that lets you play as a reactor operator in which you need to generate power for the city. I go through some tips and tricks on how to startup the reactor, and then simple QoL improvements early on in the game.
I hope this helps you guys get your first startup logged, and remember if you have questions, your AO can help with some simple checklists. If you have questions leave them in the comments, and if you like the video consider dropping me a like and maybe subscribe. I plan on making more content, and hope you will benefit from the video series for NUCLEARES. A new element has been added, the synchroscope. This is used to parallel to A/C sources. This video covers the new update and how to implement it during the startup process.
NUCLEARES is developed by Iván Marcelo Pretti, is in early access, costs $14.99, and is update very frequently. Thanks for watching!

Just wanted to say thank you for the video! Finally got a reactor running and not melting

Awesome! I am glad that my video has helped someone. Your next step is going to be make as much credits as possible and then upgrade your reactor to get more loops. I have been having issues with the turbine generator, so I am trying to figure that out. I hope I can figure it out to come up with a fix. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!

No problem! If you need anything explained or need a video for a feature I can do that, just let me know.

First time ive heard of this game and you made that start up look easy!
@GWHacketts
@GWHacketts 7 месяцев назад
Yeah it was not like this for me when I first tried playing the game. I destroyed the reactor like 3-4 times. I only make it look easy because of how many times I've done a startup and shutdown. Game is pretty fun, idk if you were planning on getting it. It is not for everyone, but it is pretty fun. Let me know if you check it out! Also thank you for watching!(sorry I replied from a different account, so figured I would reply with the actual channel)

Thanks for the walkthrough and explanation of purchasing! When you've got to move a knob in large increments, you can hold down Alt to make it go faster.

6:55 i mean, its cherenkov radiation. the sound is accurate. and it does glow blue. the pulse is exaggerated, but reactors do that.
@GWHacketts
@GWHacketts 4 месяца назад
Yeah I know its cherenkov, pretty cool thing that goes on! Never had experience with commercial reactors, or test reactors

I followed your video and for the first time I was actually able to start the reactor without blowing the whole place up!!! :) Please feel free to make videos longer than 20-30 minutes. Personally, I'd rather watch a 1 hour long video that would explain more and show more about the game as it seems to be pretty extensive and requires some knowledge in advance about how everything works. And even longer than 1 hour to be honest. The manual of the game is good, but I found myself scratching my head a few times reading, as it explain what things are, but it doesn't go into explaining details of how it works in conjunction with everything else, if that makes sense. You got a sub and a like, good work!
@GWHacketts
@GWHacketts 6 месяцев назад
Yeah the manual is kind of lack luster honestly. It has a lot of great info, but just doesn't go into much detail. I haven't made a Nucleares video in bit, but I could definitely make a longer one. I am currently in a 3-loop configuration, but that's on easy, and have wanted to dive into some normal mode. Also, there is a glitch I was thinking of exploiting lol

@@GWHacketts Thank you for replying! A 3 loop system? In my dreams, as I can barely turn things "on" for a while before they blow up again! 😂Jokes aside, I know that this is time consuming and it takes a lot of effort to make a long video like this....but: there's no one else doing it for this game. You probably would be the first, and when it comes to full explanation of things, RU-vidrs tend to leave important things behind, because they don't wanna stretch the videos too long, thinking people will get bored or something, but there's a lot of people playing these more "complex" games that are craving for someone to show more things and in more detail. So, my suggestion: make a schematic of the whole system (even using the one on the control panel of the control room, or even that one in the manual) that shows what is connected to what. Then a "walk around the building" sort of thing, nothing too extensive, just using the schematic to show where things are in the building and how to get to them. And then, maybe taking a bit longer, finishing in the command room, maybe still using the schematics, showing all the panels, what they are connected to, what they control, how they're connected to each other and a brief explanation of how everything is connected together in the end as a whole. Sorry for the long message and thanks for your videos, I found another video of yours very helpful as well, it has helped me a lot to understand how everything works! 👍

So I get the turbine integrity low alarm as soon as I run the steam trough it.
@GWHacketts
@GWHacketts 7 месяцев назад
Make sure before you startup you request a go ahead to startup from the communications tab. If you don't the turbine will reach 51Hz and then destroy itself. Also, if you are bring the plant up at max RX coolant flow and S/G, it could overspeed. Need to make sure that the RPM on the left is about 3060, and the Hz on the right is at 51Hz. There is a blue section that says RPM, and you can adjust that to increase or reduce the frequency, so I hope that helps!

Can someone tell me why my Core Inlet Temp might keep rising too high?
@GWHacketts
@GWHacketts 6 месяцев назад
Maybe your flow is too low, or maybe the core temp is too high? Also, is your S/G valve (A4/B4/C4) open? You can always boost flow in the loop, or reduce core temp by adjusting control rods. If you want to join my discord you can post a screenshot or something so I can see the parameters!

I've managed to do the same but every time I change the bypass valves to match the power output to what is required, the steam generator runs out of steam. what should I do here ?
@GWHacketts
@GWHacketts 6 месяцев назад
Are you turning on the S/G feed pumps? Also make sure you go like 5-10% above coolant pump speed. Also make sure your condenser has level, otherwise you can't feed the generators.
@SuperKillerwatt
@SuperKillerwatt 6 месяцев назад
Is that the primary pumps ? . Also my condenser seems always to be just above the redzone always, cant figure out how to fill it up. All pumps are on in this example. I've been generating power happily for several hours, this only ever seems to come into play when I change the bypass valves thans
@SuperKillerwatt
@SuperKillerwatt 6 месяцев назад
ok turning on the condenser feed pump and letting it fill up properly has helped, it looks like a cold start doesnt fill it properly
@SuperKillerwatt
@SuperKillerwatt 6 месяцев назад
@olivermayo9687 Thanks for all that - had most of that figured out. The issue was on a new game, the condenser volume is way low, and you need to fill it with the freight pump , once you do that things become a lot more even. Currently trying to figure out what a nice primary pump speed is to get close to demand , as you say 60 seems nice

I think the game was updated once again. I can't seem to get it working
@GWHacketts
@GWHacketts 4 месяца назад
Are you using the chemical update? If you don't load the core with boron it can become fairly tricky. Maybe I need to make another startup video solely for the chmical update, since it is a lot different now.
