Newcastle United Football Club is an English professional football club based in Newcastle upon Tyne, that plays in the Premier League which is the top-flight of English football. The club was founded in 1892 by the merger of Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End. The team plays its home matches at St. James' Park. All Premier League clubs have an all-seater stadium, the ground was adjusted in the mid-1990s and currently has a capacity of 52,305.
The club has been a member of the Premier League for all but three years of the competition's history, spending 88 seasons in the top-flight as of July 2020, and have never dropped below English football's second tier since joining the Football League in 1893. Newcastle have won 4 League titles, 6 FA Cups and a Charity Shield, as well as the 1969 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and the 2006 UEFA Intertoto Cup, the ninth highest total of trophies won by an English club. The club's most successful period was between 1904 and 1910, when they won an FA Cup and three of their League titles. Newcastle were relegated in 2009, and again in the 2016 season. The club won promotion at the first time of asking each time, returning to the Premier League, as Championship winners, in 2010 and 2017.
As of the 2019-20 season, Newcastle United have spent 88 seasons in the top-flight. They are eighth in the all-time Premier League table and have the ninth-highest total of major honours won by an English club with 11 wins. The club's top goal scorer is Alan Shearer, who scored 206 goals in all competitions between 1996 and 2006. Andy Cole holds the record for the most goals scored in a season: 41 in the 1993-94 season in the Premier League. Shay Given is the most capped international for the club, with 134 appearances for Republic of Ireland. Alan Shearer returned for one more season in the 2005-06 season. This last season saw him break Jackie Milburn's 49-year-old record of 200 goals for Newcastle United when he netted his 201st strike in a home Premier League fixture against Portsmouth on 4 February 2006, becoming the club's highest-ever league and cup competition goal scorer with 201 goals altogether. On 17 April 2006, Shearer suffered a tear to the medial collateral ligament in his left knee after a collision during a 4-1 win at Sunderland in which he scored his 206th and final goal in what was his 395th appearance for the club.
St James' Park is a football stadium in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It is the home of Premier League club Newcastle United F.C. With a seating capacity of 52,305 seats, it is the eighth largest football stadium in England. St James' Park has been the home ground of Newcastle United since 1892 and has been used for football since 1880. Throughout its history, the desire for expansion has caused conflict with local residents and the local council. This has led to proposals to move at least twice in the late 1960s, and a controversial 1995 proposed move to nearby Leazes Park. Reluctance to move has led to the distinctive lop-sided appearance of the present-day stadium's asymmetrical stands. Besides club football, St James' Park has also been used for international football, at the 2012 Olympics, for the rugby league Magic Weekend, rugby union World Cup, Premiership and England Test matches, charity football events, rock concerts, and as a set for film and reality television.

Cannot believe that supporters would stop going if we sold Bruno but carried on going during Ashley era

The Club had no control over Bruno Leaving if his release clause was met. so if they sold the two players early in the window and then someone came in for Bruno, we would of sold players unnecessarily that we would of rather kept.

Short memories lads you're all going to look very silly very soon with these comments trading is part of football.

The only way we can catch up financially with the 'big 6' is by buying low then selling high to make a big profit that is reinvested in new players. We just have to accept that. Howe said it himself. At least 3-4 years of this to come before we can start keeping our best players.

Surely the acquisition of Paul Mitchell proves the club have ambition. I can not understand the negativity that was shown last night.

George, until recently, you were saying differently. That the club 16:34 were not a selling club, and how well it was being run.

Agree making no sense tonight at all … both deals were too good too turn down and all clubs have to sell at some point

George saying Bruno not going is great and the two young lads going is bad. What are we supposed to do? We’ve had to adapt it’s that’s simple. We’ve sold a young kid who’s never payed and young kid who will struggle to get a game

Every club is a selling club look at who City, Milan, Madrid etc. have sold never mind Chelsea. As for commercial deals we have to realise that we are not any where near the big six yet in attracting multiple high value deals. It will all come in time, mistakes will be made but typically we get into panic mode as a fan base, me included by the way. Take a deep breath, step back and see the big picture is coming along nicely.

Wow this is depressing. We need to meet PSR, we were made aware of it well in advance by DE in his interview. You don’t want him to sell Bruno, but then you don’t want him to sell players that aren’t going to get game time. Other clubs aren’t stupid, they aren’t going to give us money for players we don’t want anymore like almiron and longstaff etc so I literally don’t know what you expect the club to do? Some insane takes on here mind.

Couldn’t disagree more with George’s take on the PSR situation . Whilst I agree the situation which led to Minteh and Anderson all felt panicked and last minute . The very reason we had to sell was the new ownership had spent all they possibly could and more investing in the team ! Selling club get a grip be angry at the rules brought in to stop our progress not the new owners ! Ridiculous take on the situation who are not perfect but well intentioned and restrained big time by the premier league .

Reality is every club is a selling club. Same people would be calling the club if we didn’t buy anyone

Apparent we cant. we give nothing away and if we dont look beyond a small field of Associated Party deals we get stimied and delayed by the EPL Board who demand scrutiny of every penny

I disagree with Mitch....Anderson and Minteh were the unfortunate pawns...If Bruno's clause was activated,..they would have stayed...the club had no control over that release clause..so it was left until the last minute...it became obvious Bruno's clause was not being activated (the club never wanted it activated)...so the deals already in the pipeline for Anderson and Minteh went ahead...never doubt the ability of these owners...(Paul Mitchell)....we play chess....they play 3d chess......with the lights out!

In regards to steves h point of looking out feild of our own saudi linked sponsors. This club can afford to allow " newcastle brown ale " to give an offer to which they can afford just to allow nostalgia to return to the club atleast if for only 1 season. Even if its a badge on the arm rather than the centre piece. It might pay for the pies for 1 season maybe the peas aswell thats on them to strike that deal 😂
