I think the Book of James is written so well a non believer can read and understand it. It’s like it was just written in our time.

IT is impossible to have an "at-one-ment" with God without Jesus . He is your ONLY Atonement! No other name was given.

The quote "You must ask God to give you power to fight against the sin of pride which is your greatest enemy - the root of all that is evil, and the failure of all that is good. For God resists the proud" is attributed to St. Vincent de Paul. According to the Bible, pride is a major sin that is present in the hearts of all people. Some ways to fight pride include: Asking God for humility Giving up the desire for praise and notoriety Focusing on the worth, truth, and beauty of Christ Being open to criticism and assuming that there is some truth in it Being quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry

James is a powerful and most relevant book in any time, most especially today's time. A lot of people like to put down James just because its addressed to the tribes of Israel, and they downplay in full ignorance to the fact that if you are born-again you are an Israelite--a child of God, therefore that book is addressed to you Saint/Israelite. I've come to realize this is the excuse false teachers use. But the real aversion is because James addresses sin from beginning to end, it addresses how to address sin and be a child of God walking according to faith. Way too many non-repentent sinners and way too many self-righteous people out there, and their attitude toward everything and anything in James is a sign that sin continues to dwell in them and has not been addressed, and sadly, they most likely won't address it. Their righteousness/blindness has decided James is irrelevant. And this attitude... let's all call it for what it is... this attitude towards James is heresy. And if I was a betting man... they most likely ignore the book of Job as well. Or just dont comprehend it. As you show, Charles, James is so useful and loaded that preaching out of it means taking it and serving it as "nuggets" like its the book of proverbs.

I enjoy your teachings but understand none of us are perfect. An elder is not an ordained minister of the Lord. In organized religion man complicated and made up that heresy. An elder is an older person in the Lord who is mature and an example.

And know this, James is not saying to trust in your works, he is referring to what Jesus stated, ye shall know them by their fruit. You cannot trust in works, if you do, Jesus died in vain is what your belief is. The thief on the cross had no works, only faith at that moment, period.
