Very cool how they not only made this free but they also don't require product purchase or registration, and it works with any MIDI board not just theirs. I don't know of any other manufacturer who does this. Studiologic have really upped their game in recent years. Their current hardware, design, manufacture, QC and attention to detail is also commendable. Go Italy!
Who ever designed this app has done a great job. The GUI is perfect, with all the most used features easily and sensibly accessible. I used the Studiologic Numa compact 2x, which has these sounds onboard. It has one amazing feature….. that it acts flawlessly as an audio interface….So I can connect my iPad/iPhone via the USB camera connection kit, and any sounds generated by my phone, (I love the VB3 organ app- it’s cheap and amazing) simply output from the keyboard jacks or internal speakers. Wonderful stuff!
I had an old Iphone SE 1st gen that I did not use anymore. It has separate headphjone jacket. Works perfectly with Numa player. So you can use this setup for keyboards without any inbuilt sounds. There is no noticable latency or cracking at all. I can just recommend this!
Nice. Those old SE’s were great. I did a version of “While my guitar gently weeps” on it, using all 32 tracks available on GarageBand. I found Numa Player just by coincidence after using VSTs for roughly two months and searching for a lot of plugins which are free to accompany with my bought NI Komplete 13. and although NI has nice strings, they are mostly 'small' and I love the strings on the Numa Player actually a lot. Also interesting that I didn't notice it while having a StudioLogic Acuna 88 myself (actually two). Also the Acuna surprised me (350 euro for a hammer keyboard, although I'm not a pianist it feels very good).
It's a nice littleapp.The piano's are a bit unnaturally short though.If you hold a note it does fade out too fast, which isn't handy for someone who likes to hold their notes for a while every now and then. But for a free app I guess we can't complain eh? Good stuff! I'd actually gladly pay for a fully featured VST version of this. Maybe I should just get one of the keyboards..i've been eyeing the NUMA piano X, but if has the same issue with sounds that fade out too fast, then I guess I'll have to reconsider
Ta for the heads up. I'm less locked into the freebie iOS app world these days and this looks (and sounds) like a gift from StudioLogic. We are blessed to be living in such times for music making on a budget.
It does seem like a really neat gift I must say. The sounds won’t set the world on fire, but I think the interface is very well set up, with key zones and sustain on/off, plus of course the reverbs...

Sounds great! Gonna download the app today!. I just paid about $14 for an app that only have a Mark 1 sample and $4 for another app that has only the Mark 1. The $14 app is better sounding Wonder if Numar Rhodes have that bark tho. Crazy thing is I'm a vintage synthesizer hardware guy. I used to have the idea of using computers to make music. But these apps are changing my whole out look
So you need an iPad, keyboard, amplifier… so even though the software is free the essential components still cost big bucks. However if it’s all used for paid entertainment the cost of everything is moot
Just wish it had some BASS sounds!!!! Would be perfect then. I have a Numa Compact 2 and a Mixface, have been using other iPad apps but this look great for keys and a few other sounds. Might be useful still for some purposes. (I'm mostly a solo artist or work with drummer and play left handed bass.)
Great demo of a great free product. Just wondering with your ipad, what gen is it? I've been thinking of getting an Ipad for the variious uses I'll have with have an ios device but not sure on how old of an ipad operating system I can get away with. Or will any ipad update to current a os?
The iPad input is via the USB to lighting connector, and the headphone output of the iPad is connected to the speaker via a headphone-to-two mono jacks cable.

Fabulous- thanks Dan! Out of interest, what midi keyboard do you use? I have an old Yamaha digital piano that I’m very fond of but it has velocity input issues (unsolvable as far as I can see) when being used for midi.
Oh. I wonder why that might be - perhaps check that the keys section is set to respond to all keys on the keyboard rather than perhaps just a section of the keyboard? Not sure...
