I tried this out in Guitar Center and speakers surprised me. It’s seems like a good option if portability and simplicity are top priorities for you. I have never used engine os or any numark units and was able to jump on and feel comfortable.
I like Denon's products a lot, but I really didn't like the placement of the speakers on their SC Live. My first controller ia an old Numark (I still have it) and I've been wanting to get a standalone to do mobile sets, recording mixes in public etc., as I don't have my own team to truck around a bunch of equipment 😂. This is seriously making me consider returning to the Numark camp for the foreseeable future.
Im in literally the exact same boat haha a Numark Mixtrack Pro 3 got me through a 6 month DJ contract on a cruise ship.. I brought it to use in the cabin but nope, top deck and in the night clubs with million dollar sound systems lol My pioneer DDJ 400 is taking a toast and im really thinking about t=clicking the buy button haha
The I/O isn't nearly as good as the Prime Go though. No booth out, only a single 1/4" mic input, and no aux input. It has 2 USB ports, bigger jog wheels, and a vertical EQ layout which are nice, but the lackluster I/O is a dealbreaker for me. I'll stick with my Prime Go.
The first thing I see as a plus, is the fact you don't have to wear welding goggles to look at it (I am talking about the pioneer colourful button stuff).
Yeah I'm waiting for the Mixstream Pro Go Pro, with 8 pads, big pitch sliders, booth out and two turntable/line inputs. It would actually be incredible. It wouldn't need to be much bigger and heavy, just a smidgen with incredible flexibility. You could run those Japanese turntables either side... Maybe do a colour matched special edition? Get me in touch with Numark people, Stat.
The Phillips Hue lighting option seems gimmicky. I am a big user of Phillips Hue in my home but I would never use this feature if I had this controller. I also wish they would include 8 pads instead of 4. The touch screen looks very interesting though.
Yep. The most important thing people dont realize about Philips Hue is that it works on the Zigbee protocal which only sends one message per 100ms so that limits how quickly the lights can change and prevents it from all happening at the same time
good review, would have liked to seen you do a transition though. does it automatically pic out bpms on tracks, etc or is this done when a computer is connected? can this accept an aux in say form a vinyl deck? thanks.
Quick question: its this one compatible with rekordbox formated usbs ? i know denns cdjs running engine can import on hardware rekordbox libraries to engine dj format but this one can do the same ? im asking this because sometimes i do gigs with other djs and most of them if not all use rekordbox and i want them to be able to play on this one on the fly without having to analyze with a pc
Yes it is, I sometimes have to edit the beat grids on the spot but it’s not that difficult, just holding the smart scratch button down and adjusting. I had both Rekordbox and engine files
Does it have auto mix so I can switch over to auto mix so I can grab some food etc at the party then back to normal DJ'ing when I return to the controller? Currently I do that with the DJ software I'm using.
Wait I can change how much the eq will duck by? I’ve been using the MS pro for a while and I’ve never seen that option. Have I just missed it or is that new?
Hi I am considering buying the Denon Prime go, but not sure if it worth buying since it is about three years old, and concerned they will stop providing software updates. I will only be using for ceremonies. Should I buy the Numark Midstream pro go, what are your thoughts
No loop in/out buttons or loop encoder Only 4 hotcue pads No beat jumps Filter and fx are post hp section, making it hard to mix over HP HP cue/master mix button in front The decision to include speakers meant compromising on all the mentioned points. Very questionable if you consider the tradeoffs.
@@Crossfader Thanks for the reply, though I guess I worded my question wrong. What I thought you meant is that I could use the speakers on the unit itself as a "cue" monitor on stage, as a replacement for having to cue through headphones. Is that possible?
The SADDEST thing on the first one is... It has already Destroyed 2 of my external hard drives so keep in my mind... 1. You must use a UPS to plug this thing... so no worries in case of power interruptions. 2. Keep away from kids especially when the hard drives are attached to the unit. 3. Always bring back-up drives in case this problems occurs.
What’s the point with all these battery powered controllers ? Any 240 Wh battery will have enough power to plug any controller. To give an idea, with my Ecoflow (but same with any other brand) River Pro, I power a pair of Technics, my Xone92, a wireless Mic and 2 Bose L1 Compact for almost 4 hours. Would be longer with a controller. Just use the gears you already have and buy a good battery. You’ll save €€ and the battery also serve for many other purposes and also to regulate the AC in venues that could have sketchy AC.
yeah but you can take this to the park and do a little party with one thing that you carry around, you have to be insane to carry so much stuff around just to have little fun with friends
Aaaand no tilted display. Anyone that has DJed anywhere where lights are reflecting into your eyes knows what and issue that is. Backpain included when you have to lean over the controller to see the display constantly.
it uses Sd card or flash drive for your music, it has enough ram to hold your currently playing songs from streaming but no device has build in storage; battery is serviceable
If this is a budget alternative to standalone controllers like the Denon Prime series... It looks not bad at all. BUT I'd chance those useless speakers with 4 more pads and a larger pitch bend fader.
The crossfader on these units are weak. Sound cuts out and don’t expect to do any kind of decent transforming. The crossfader is so awful I went through two models and still the same issue. I contacted numark and they ignored my emails. Truly don’t buy if you’re into scratching or turntablism. Outside of that it’s good and loud.
Hopefully This will last longer, than any other previous attempts at DJ controllers unfortunately numark is cheap crap, though I like their controls on some units they're still cheap, still like the style of then odds players and layouts, I think pioneers overrated I've had friends fellow DJs who have had their pioneer units eventually just start to wear out and become non-functional where the denon's out last them.
I don't understand this unit. Speakers aren't loud enough, cramped and small controls, small screen, plastic build, yet an $840 price? Seriously? I bought the old version and sent it back, it was overpriced at $499...no way this is worth approx $350 more by adding a battery.
Here's hoping that denon release a slightly higher end equivalent with full size pitch controls. Aside from that, this looks like a great bit of kit. The speakers, I could take or leave, it seems a shame to have them taking up valuable space, but they do at least fit in with the concept of a portable battery powered all in one unit.
why dont they scrap the speakers, add more 4 more pads on each side, and add buttons for more different fx? It would be perfect!(and also make tempo fader larger)
@@Adam-xs3iq But portable bluetooth speakers exist and some budget quality ones can 100% outperform the performance of the built in speakers. just think its a waste of space, because everyone nowadays has a bluetooth speaker or a sound installation at home
@@djstuc not if you connect them with a small wire(rca to 3.5mm) no latency and not bad because you will only use the speaker on rare occasions. Im curious in what occasions a portable speaker connected with wire is worse than the built in speaker
@@djstuc I am a bedroom DJ myself and never had any noticable lag when connecting a portable box with a wire to my controller(ddj400), but I am also not that experienced so maybe that’s why i don’t notice it. I think that only at a small party(30 people), the monitors can do it’s job due to the volume of the speakers, but is it really necessary? You can dj perfectly fine with the speakers being slightly behind you and not pointed directly at you + using your headphones. I just need a controller that you can use everywhere, without much hassle and with all the fx you need. Im waiting for pioneer’s response
@@djstuc fair enough, if pioneer doesnt release something new this summer, im going to buy either the denon prime go, sc live 4 or the xdj-rr(but i think sc live 4 gives more value for money), my budget is around 1.2k
It is more or less the same as Denon Prime units having. The OS at least is 99% the same, except these filter fx stuffs not yet available in the current / latest firmware. Prime Go also having inbuilt battery but the difference is that Go having more knobs while Numark mobile all in one player having bigger jog wheels. It is not bad anyway. Wondering how long the battery could withstand in full power / volume. I'm still missing the inside SSD bay or at least an M2 slot or hidden USB dock. I'll stay with my Prime unit. I still have not found any better as true stand alone unit.
Agree about that "Pro" labeling, it makes the whole name clunky (Pro Plus, Pro Go) and doesn't match the plastic build, lack of AUX, lack of beatjump, only 4 Pads, small pitchfaders. Cool unit but just "Mixstream" would have done the job.
Good overview.. but I wish people would stop saying the deck colour setting doesn't do anything. It sets the colour for the different channels on the screen, which helps a lot.
I really love this deck, I was using pioneer but now I'm on the mixstream pro it's not so big and easy to carry out for djing together with my 2 jbl 1000 it's great👍
Carefull, as to my knowledge, no any Mixtream pro has a full kill EQ. This is really important as it is the reason i have sensed it back!!!!. Could anyone confirm if this has been finally added to this device ?
8 pads and a long pitch fader doesn't make something "Pro" or not. The pads all have secondary mode so you can access 8 hotcues using those 4 pads. Something like a Numark Scratch mixer you can't do that on. Also, the Pro Go has XLR outs which is very important. Entry level DJ controllers don't have that on them. Also on a device like the Scratch, the mic sounds terrible and can't be used for anything really... thats not the case with the Pro Go. Everything works like it should and you could walk up to a party or event with PA speakers onsite and rock the party with a Pro Go. For about 4 hours on battery alone. To me those facts alone make it a Pro device! Great review though and keep em coming!
I just DJed from a Hot Air Balloon ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BeEtDOjKm7I.html Definitely purchasing now to replace my beat up DDJ-400 that has also been in off road race cars, hanging from a cliff, inside a volcano (literally) and up the deadly Angels landing hike. This will be the progression of my next adventurous DJ sets
