In this video I demonstrate how effective the Numatic George is for upholstery cleaning. More demos featuring this versatile cleaner will follow soon. Amazon affiliate link UK: amzn.to/2XeW40Y
I worked in a factory for a while years ago and it had submersion tanks with tones of rusty water that needed draining and cleaning every two weeks. The company had a really old George that did this and had for years. It took an absolute beating. I vowed after witnessing the relentless performance of my his little vacuum I would one day buy one. Mywife has so far vetoed this and bought various Dysons or whatever. They have usually looked cool and do certain things very well at least for a while but become unreliable or have other disappointing attributes. I’m going to buy myself a George soon for cleaning the car and sofas and fulfil this modest ambition. I’m certain it will out live a dozen shiny digital display flashing lights modern crap vacuums the Mrs brings home.
Yeah thanks, picked one up not long after writing the original comment. It’s extremely handy with pets and kids trying to ruin my house and car. It really is a good bit of kit
Revisited your channel to review a purchase I made sometime ago but never bothered to use the George as a wet cleaner till now. The advise given stood the test of time and I'm pleased to say the purchase I made is now returning great results.
I own a George and agree with you about it not being great at large areas of carpet with the large carpet head provided. Mine was bought for cars. I really wished It has better performance on room size carpet but it is superb on seats in the car with the valet/upholstery attachment as your video explains very well. House carpets are very hard work but I get great results as I use the upholstery tool on my home stairs and carpets. I spray, work it in with a brush nozzle by hand and not fitted to the machine then spray again and extract with the smaller upholstery tool. This way I work m2 area at a time it gets really cleaned well and dried as best as possible. After the carpet is fully dry just a normal “Henry” vac over has any loose lint picked up and the pile in the carpet gets pulled up neat. If I was cleaning room carpets more often I would go for the Karcher Puzzi range of cleaners £200 more than George. The grey Puzzi ones are top notch the lance has a handle mid way down it like a lawn trimmer allows you to push down on the pull back suction stroke over the carpet. The Puzzi carpet tool has a wide head better suction with easy visible tanks for cleaning solution and collected dirty water. Plus I would still always use a scrubbing brush on a long handle to work out trapped hairs and loose fibres from the carpet. Rotary brush cleaners of any brand need too much picking cutting out of hair to keep working time to a minimum. Sorry this is so long but thanks for reading. Cheers
George is the best machine I have used for cleaning my stairs and the car. I agree with you about it being the best for car valeting, stairs and upholstery
Hi Roger Many thanks for this video. I've been on the fence about getting a george. but really only for cleaning the cars. So by the looks of it george is perfect for my needs 👍🏼
We use commercial grade van mounted carpet and upholstery cleaning units that run off the engine, including using the coolant to heat up the water to boiling temperatures. Always make sure to avoid over wetting and under drying when cleaning carpets and furniture, and be careful with cleaning natural fabrics and fibres as cellulosic browning may occur.
I still prefer George for carpet washing even if it is harder work i still prefer George. Also for upholestory but i actually Have a Numatic CT370 so its just like George but it has Numatic written on it.
Nice detailed video as always. I love my George, as you say not the easiest to use for carpets but there is no better all round cleaning machine IMO, the versatility is brilliant and what is really nice is that you get all the accessories included, no expensive extras or fancy shampoo needed. It's also quite easy to maintain, my solution tube developed a leak and it was quite straightforward to replace with a new piece of hose. I am missing the float ball in my machine, Numatic don't seem to want to reply to my emails about a replacement though, shame their customer service isn't as good as their products.
I did try that, but they all only seem to want to sell the entire float unit. I just need the ball. I am guessing it is just a hollow plastic ball, maybe I could get away with one of those kiddies ball pool ones.
@@johnrobert6127 I should have updated this. I tried a ball pool ball as I mentioned and it works absolutely fine. Because it is smaller than the original I suspect it blocks the outlet before maximum fill is reached but this is no big deal. I have used it for many cycles now and had no issues.
@@caskwith try poking a hole in it and filling it will a little water to make it a bit heavier, then seal it back up using a glue gun. That way it won’t get sucked up too early.
Seriously thinking about trying one of these always had a bissell or vax upright cleaner but find they don’t suck up enough of the water and then the carpet smells damp
I have just got this can you use the pole attachment any way to clean the carpet , with the attachments ? Or is it only handheld? 😖I can’t wait have remaining carpets replaced with hard floors.😶
Ibaisaic hope you're well good sir. I have a question and I think it's the $64,000 one. Does one buy a George or pay for a professional to service carpets and upholstery once a year or hire a cleaning machine? Is it worth it to have George to maintain after a professional clean? Truth be told, George can't be expected to clean as thoroughly as a hire machine or a professional. But is going to clean well enough to justify the initial purchase all things considered? Also, professional upholstery cleaners tend to decry diy vacs such as George. They reason that they leave too much water and soap in the carpet. This attracts dirt and ruins the carpet faster. Obviously a truck mounted machine will extract all the soap and heat water to a higher temperature and therefore clean it better. Hope to hear your opinion on the matter. Cheers
Hello Roger do you know the name of the music on this video when you first start cleaning the sofa as my shazam app is unable to identify it I really fine that catchy kind regards
the karcher commercial puzzi 100 and 200 are the best mashines in carpet and upholstery cleaning!! thats my opinion were ever will that ibaisiac test this kind of mashine give me a thumbs up that he can see😃😉
My George Hoover seems to have lost its suction power when extracting in wet mode. Absolutely fine when back in dry mode. Can anyone help advise me what I can do to fix this? Thank you so much in advance x
a good video.thank you.i like this machine.bissell detergents work very well. can I please ask a question for your shout out when you do it. how long does it take on average to compose your video's from start to finish ?.
It comes with everything for wet and dry cleaning, floor washing and carpet and upholstery cleaning. Here is my latest video on the George ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D13RnVE5rpk.html
I'm starting up a car detailing service & have all equipment apart from a vacuum. I want a wet dry vacuum so was thinking to buy a George vacuum & I'd love to know whether I will be fine with using only a George.. ? any help or advice would be massively appreciated
Yes, a George will be fine as it can be used for dry vacuuming and wet valeting. It comes with a tool kit for dry use and a separate hose for wet shampooing.
Hi will it deep clean the sofas? My friend has her sofa that is really dirty due to the old Tennants. So wondering is this vacuum the best one to recommend??
Yes, it will do very well at cleaning a sofa using the upholstery cleaning tool. This is one of the best cleaners I have used for upholstery, stairs and car interiors.
I have used my Heorge twice now and u get liquid/foam coming out the exhaust. Is this because it is full. How do you know the ball valve has been activated? Thanks
It is probably not full enough for the ball valve to rise and cut of the suction, but excessive foam can exit the cleaner, especially if the surface has been shampooed before. To stop this, add defoamer to the main tank. You will know when the ball valve activates as the motor will sound more high pitched than normal and there will be hardly any suction at the nozzle.
Hello sir, I am seriously thinking about purchasing a GEORGE vacuum here in the USA (probably from Amazon) for my vehicle detailing (aka VALETING in the UK :) ) . I want to use the unit as both a great vacuum cleaner with superior suction capability compared to shop vac's (I've tried multiple ones, purchased 3 different ones over the years that had crappy suction, and they just didn't do a very good job getting the interior dirt off the carpets and upholstery in the vehicles. I've heard (and seen on RU-vid) good things about GEORGE. I also need an extractor and I thought this particular vacuum would be the perfect vacuum to use as a "dual purpose" machine. My question essentially is: "What is your opinion of this machine to be used as a "dual purpose" unit for vehicle valeting? Is it difficult to switch between using as an extractor and then back to vacuum mode? I only plan on using the extractor feature occasionally, every few months probably. I plan on using the VACUUM portion of the unit quite frequently to vacuum out my vehicles. THIRD: "Do you recommend anything else other than GEORGE for valeting? I want the strongest suction unit I can get my hands on for vacuuming vehicles, which comes with a good assortment of attachments such as the round brush, crevice tool, and others. Even if I had to purchase a separate extractor, i'd be fine with that. The good VACUUM is my priority. Thank you so much for your in depth (and comical sometimes) reviews! I just watched your Henry head to head competition video on all the models and I was actually looking at the Henry Xtra before I saw your RU-vid channel. Searching Henry brought me to your channel. Thanks again sir for any information you can provide. Cheers mate. Thank you from Maryland, USA!
Yes, I would recommend the George for car detailing for both dry and wet cleaning. The hose is a good length and has all the tools You should need, plus it has a large capacity. George comes with two hoses, one for dry and one for wet and it is easy to swap between modes. If you go to my channel page and search George you will see all the videos I have made on this cleaner.
You mention about dry cleaning before doing the shampoo clean on upholstery.. But what about if it's mouldy car seats , would you really want to do dry clean first?
Hello would you recommend A Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Or A Miele (dont know which model) We have A Miele for 20 years And it works well but I realized it wont clean everything up I just want a Vacuum that is stressless
Is George any good at cleaning car seats & carpets and dose it come with the and dose it come with the cleaning tool for car detailing as like to detail the car.
Yes it is good for car cleaning and comes with all the tools for dry pick up as well as the small wash tool shown in this video that can be used to clean car seats and carpets.
As long as you don’t overwet the fabric and go over several times with suction only it may be OK. I would test an inconspicuous part of the sofa, let it dry and see what it looks like before cleaning the rest of it.
Hello ibaisaic I have the same Numatic George and am trying to clean an 8 year old carpet that has never been washed and finding using as you suggest gives very limited results with the dirt still there so what would you suggest I do...i am also using the vax ultra+ as the solution.
The George is not great at carpet cleaning using the large spray nozzle as it doesn’t agitate the fibres. You could pre treat a section of carpet by spraying the solution and leave it for a few minutes, agitate the carpet with a brush and then suck up the solution. When the whole carpet is dry, go over it again using water only to rinse it. You may get better results using the upholstery wash tool, but obviously it will take a long time.
@@ibaisaic Thanks for that quick reply ..one thing I forgot to say was that it is carpet on the stairs and not the part we would stand on (tread) but the other part (riser) I have also tried leaving overnight a mixture of Flash multi-surface and stain removal then next morning using the vax ultra+ and warm water inside the Numatic George with that special stairs nozzle but I haven't given it much of scrub to agitate the dirt. Do you think the vax ultra+ would be strong enough with agitation to do the job or is there something else on the market that has a good reputation in dealing with extra difficult carpet dirt?. It is a rental property so this is why it hasn't been washed for years. One more question.. Numatic George vs any Vax model who wins?
Hi I’m just after some advice on Numatic choice. I’ve had a Henry for 10 years and I stupidly sucked up water cleaning my car mats and now it won’t work at all. I gather I’ve killed it. As cleaning cars is a big hobbie of mine I’m contemplating buying George, however my partner thinks it will be too big & heavy to use around the house , all our down stairs is wood floor whilst up stairs is carpet. What would you advise please. Thanks.
i have a big shop vac vacuum wet and dry i once use my portable steam cleaner whit hose to steam clean the couch them proceded to vacuuming the water whit the shop vac did a good job but i had to use 2 machine seperatly not bad but woww george seems to work well i would vacuum the remaining liquid until dry whit the vacuum only . Some people clean the cushion then let air dry id clean and apply solution whit george and vacuum at the same time then id do a few dry passes just me tho how ling did it take ti dry dont take this the wrong way you did a fantastic job just tought of using george whit out applying shampoo and vacuum the couch till dry to the touch speeds up drying time my 2 cents i could be wrong maybe the suction is good enough u would not have to do that
Hiya hope whoever picks up this message is having a great day. I wonder if I could please have just a moment of ur time? Please could u advice me, whats the difference (apart from the price.) between the George upolcleaner & the Henry wash? Would love a reply asap. I'm looking 2 buy a cleaner asap & I trust he henry brand. Thank u in advance 4 ur time. Sam x
A Henry wash is only designed for wet use as it doesn’t come with a filter and cleaning tools for dry use. If you don’t want to use the cleaner as a conventional vacuum, then the Henry Wash is cheaper. It comes with the carpet washing tool, upholstery nozzle and hard floor head like the George. I have a video about the Henry Wash here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1_9CuAw7QdY.html
George is not the same. Look on myhenry.com and you will see that George has a new motor unit with front mounted controls and a new cord storage system.
I've looked at Charles an now George I have a pets & a child with disability who has accidents, Can you help? Please need expertise advice an your the man for it.... Nice1
Charles is a wet & dry vacuum cleaner. If you want to be able to clean carpets and upholstery the George offers a shampoo function as well as wet & dry pick up.
The george is lacking in power being only 1060w my cheap vax-020 has more power at 1300w i'm disappointed in numatic as they do make quality machines but this one isn't worth the £240 price tag.
