Sir is 22/7 rational or irrational as my school Maths teacher keeps saying that it is irrational number as it's decimal expansion is never ending . But according to my understanding 22/7 should be a rational number as it is in the form of p/q

Your Sir is talking about Pi, Pi is an irrational number whose exact value is non terminating non reccuring, i.e.; 3.1415926.... But when you divide 22 by 7, you get 3.1428.... that is near the value of Pi. We take 22/7 as APPROXIMATE value of Pi, it is not actual value of Pi. And yes, 22/7 is a rational number. Therefore, Pi is Irrational and 22/7 is Rational...Well Magnet Brains' comment should have added this information.......

Sir there are 2 methods for plotting irrational numbers on number line 1st is this one which you showed 2nd is the one in which first you drew a line depending upon the underoot to be found and then extended the line to 1Cm............... So which method should we use ?
