Thank you Skip, another wonderful teaching. As we are doing this 7 or 8 years after you taught we are fortunate enough to be able to stop and start the laptop, and go back and listen to what you said again. We are so so Blessed to have you teaching us Gods Precious Word. I LOVE the O. T. we have such riches in there mostly not discovered by today's Christians!
I had my first big ah-HAH moment today at exactly 20:20 during this study. I have paused it to write and reflect. God didn't just redeem the firstborn Israelites. He redeemed a very particular and special group of Israelites INSTEAD OF the firstborn that were consecrated to him. He GAVE THEM to the Israelites. Then He made those people into the vehicle via which the Israelites could atone for their sins and approach the sanctuary of the tabernacle safely. The only way to Him was through the Levites. SIMILARLY.... God didn't redeem just ANY firstborn in the story told in the Gospels. He redeemed HIS OWN firstborn through Mary INSTEAD OF Mary & Joseph's firstborn child because His Son would be a very particular and special Man. He GAVE HIM to His children. That Man would be the vehicle via which we still atone for our sins and can safely approach the sanctuary that is eternal life in heaven. The only way to God is through Jesus. WOW. (Un-pauses the video to see if Pastor Skip says that same thing...)
I have a question. Repeatedly in these chapters we read “And the Lord spoke to Moses…”. Where exactly did this speaking occur? If only the high priest (Aaron) was allowed in the Most Holy place (the chamber containing the ark) and even then only once a year - are we to understand that Moses spoke to God in the Holy place - ie the chamber containing the lampstand, table of showbread, and altar of incense?? In other words Moses was not directly in front of the ark and mercy seat but heard Gods voice coming from there?
@@carla5981 Thanks - I was thinking of the large tabernacle later built in the center of the camp that had the bronze altar and wash basin in the courtyard and the large tent containing the Holy place and Most Holy place. This tent of Moses in these verses is outside the camp. So Moses continued to use his own tent even after the main tabernacle was built?
@@rodneyspence7441 the tent of meeting and the tabernacle are the same thing. We read that God spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. Exodus 33:11.
In the other video, Pastor Skip said we are a kingdom of priests in Christ, and that there is no need for priests like in Catholic churches. If that's true, then who are these guys and why doesn't Skip pray for communion?
It’s worth mentioning to any unbelieving friends that the very existence of the nation of Israel is another validation for the existence of a loving caring God. Because how else could a group of 2-3 million people survive in the desert wilderness for 40 years unless a loving caring God was sustaining them with food and water.
